London Southend SEN Airport Overview

London Southend Airport SEN is Greater London's, Britain's & Europe's fastest-growing airport - operated by London Southend Airport Co. The evident success of London Southend Airport is attributable to its continuous upgrade, and its promise that passengers wait no more than four minutes to go through security, and arriving passeners with only carry-ons travel from plane to train within 15 mins of exiting the aircraft.

SEN Airport is located about 40 miles east of Central London, and 38 miles from Stratford, and is just off motorway A127, which in turn offers access to motorways M25, A13, A12 & on to Central London - taking about one hour.

With over 970K passengers annually, and a recently extended runway, London Southend Airport is mainly served by EasyJet Airlines offering year-round & seasonal European destinations, and presently by  Aer Lingus (operated by Aer Arann) to Dublin. Flybe will offer summer services to Newquay in Cornwall, and Thomson Airways, operated by Volotea, offers seasonal Palma de Mallorca flights.

The new on-airport Holiday Inn is within a short walk from either the passenger terminal or the railroad station.

The new passenger terminal opened in 2012.  It opens daily 4am & closes 45 mins after last scheduled flight arrival.  All scheduled flight passengers are requested to arrive two hours prior to flight departure.  Each airline differs as to checked carry-on baggage (contact your airline).  Aer Lingus Regional check-in closes 45 mins before departure (contact: aerlingus.com/travelinformation/traveladvice/web-check-in/ );

Services & amenities inside the passenger terminal:  The ground level with gates 1 & 2 offers  Moneycorp currency exchange, rental car counters for Hertz & Europcar, 'Stobart Airport Shopping', WHSmith, Arnold & Forbes Cafe. The Mezzanine level reached by escalator has the 'Stobart First Class Lounge', with access to the Laker's Bar. The recent terminal expansion by 90 meters now offers for more check-in desks, baggage dropoff points & security screening lanes; an extended Departure Lounge &  Arrivals area, improved baggage claim facilities, a larger immigration area, and more food & drink & retail concessions throughout the terminal.
Parking include Short- & Long-Stay carparks; Long-Stay 2 is opposite the Control Tower; Long-Stay 3 is opposite of the hotel, west of the terminal.
