Long Beach Airport LGB
serves the densely populated area of Long Beach, California, and is presently one of the busiest airports of its size in the U.S. It also offers California's lowest airfares - recently quotes as being the 'most affordable airport in the U.S.'. In early 2014 it had received three awards for 'Best Food & Beverage Program', for 'Transportation Project of the Year (2013) & for 'Terminal Preservation'. LGB Airport is between Los Angeles and Orange County, in southern California, accessible from Interstate Hwy. 405 (San Diego Frwy) to the south, connecting west to I-710 and east to I-605.

The FAA started phased implementation of the 'SoCal Metroplex project', whereby by April 27, 2017 LGB may receive each 5 new arrivals, 5 new departures, and 3 new approcach procedures.

The well-maintained passenger terminal at Long Beach Airport, built in early 1940, was designated a Cultural Heritage Landmark in 1990.
