  • FLYING QANTUS FROM WAS TO AUKLAND NZ

My Qantus flight from Was arrives in LAX at 10:25 pm and the outbound Qantus flight to Aul leaves 11:10 pm. Is there enough time to make the 11:10 Qantus flight?

Qantas does not fly from Washington to LAX. That flight will be on American. You have just enough time if everything goes smoothly. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Actually both flights will be on American.

We are thinking of flying into LAX on on Hawaiianairlines arriving at 3pm, how much time would we need to get bags and re check into an international flight to London (booking totally separate ticket, told they will not check bags through)...doing same lay over on the return...is 3 hr enough time?

3 hours is just about what I recommend. More on the return would be nice but isn't totally necessary.

I'm looking at a delta flight from RDU to HNL. It has a 35 minute layover at LAX. Should I pick a flight with a longer layover?

It's possible but it doesn't leave any time to spare. It's up to you and what your risk tolerance is.

Bought ATL to LAX tickets with FF points on DL. Have 3 hr layover in LAX before boarding my DL flight LAX to Sydney - which I purchased - so 2 different tickets. DL assures me I can check my bags all the way through since Both tickets are on D L. Hope they are right! It looks as if domestic & International DL flights depart term 5 at LAX- yes?

Yes, that is correct. You should have plenty of time - even if for some reason you do have to claim your bags and re-check them.

Hi! I am flying from Denver to LAX with United... I have a 3 hour layover where I will fly to Guadalajara with Volaris. Will this be enough time? I am checking 1 bag under the plane. Thanks!

Yes, that should be enough time. You will have to transfer your bag yourself to Volaris.

Thanks! I've heard that volaris can be a stickler at not checking in exactly 3 hours before the flight-this will be impossible for me... this just has me a bit nervous!

Hi, I am travelling from Heathrow-L.A.X-Auckland, i arrive at 3.05pm and depart at 10.40pm all booked as one ticket direct with A.A. My question is will i have to collect my luggage or will it be checked through to the Auckland flight automatically, and if so will i have time to visit Manhattan Beach? Thanks.

Yes, in LAX you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then you are free to go where you want. Be back at the airport by 8:30.

Hi, Thanks for the reply, so i can recheck my bag straight away, a few hours ahead of the actual flight? Thanks.

    Yes, you can.

Thank you, i have been struggling to determine if it would have been better or easier for me too take a large rucksack rather than a conventional suitcase in case i couldn't check it in hours ahead so i could leave for a few hours, Thanks again.

Hi! Arriving LAX via AA at 3pm and departing also with AA going to SFO at 4:40pm. Do i have enough time to clear the immigration and customs and to recheck my bagagge for the next flight? Thanks

Where are you flying into LAX from?

Im flying from Bahrain-Heathrow-LAX-SFO via AA..thanks

That is barely enough time if everything goes smoothly. If you miss your connection you will be rebooked on a later AA flight to SFO.

The rebooking is free of charge?thanks

Flying with my family through LAX from Costa Rica to Las Vegas. All with Delta on the same itinerary. The layover is only 1 hour and 15 min. Is that enough time?

That will be really difficult if not impossible, especially if you have checked bags.

That's just enough time if the first flight is domestic and everything goes smoothly.

Hi there, I'm looking to book a flight from Hawaii to Las Vegas is a 1 layover enough? I'm from the UK my first flight into the US two weeks earlier.

What airlines are you flying? Are your flights on one reservation or two separate reservations? Do you have checked bags?

Hi there I'm looking to fly from Hawaii to las vegas is a one layover long enough? I'm from the UK but I'll be flying into Washington two weeks earlier before heading to Hawaii. Will I have to collect my bags all will the airline do that for me if both flights are with the same airline?

If both flights are on the same airline then you won't have to do anything with your bags in Los Angeles and all you would have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. 1 Hour would be enough time.

  • 6 hr layover at lax with 2 snall children

Arriving at LAX at 3:50pm (via Virgin America) and leaving at 10:35pm (via Virgin Australia). Travelling with 2children ages 2&4. Any suggestions for passing 6 hr 45 min layover? Stay in airport? Leave airport? Suggestions, Please?.

I would stay at the airport. There isn't really enough time for you to do much and it will be the middle of rush hour when you arrive.

I humbly disagree with the previous post. It depends how old your children are. I often travel with my kids and staying in LAX for over 6 hours would KILL me! It is the WORST airport in the nation. Nothing to do! I would look at a place called Marina Del Rey Fishermans Village. About 15-20 min away by cab. Not an amusement park, but enough to keep kids busy walking around looking at seals and boats, grab a snack etc for about 2-3 hours. Best thing is, no FREEWAYS to drive on at that time!

I'm planning a trip from vancouver to San Jose, Costa Rica with a lay over in lax on delta airlines the lay over is 1hr 40mins. Will this be enough time? And will I have to collect baggage or should it go straight though? Thanks

Yes, that is enough time. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Vancouver. All you have to do in LAX on your way to SJO is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

After clearing US customs we want to meet Santa Monica based son for dinner before our 8:30pm flight to PDX. Do you advise dining at airport restaurant given layover time of 3 hours? Where?

The only restaurants outside security is the food court in the international terminal, and the food there is atrocious. Also, you don't really have time anyway.
