I'm arriving at LAX from Dubai on Aug 20 at 8:00PM at TBIT. I have to go through customs, collect my luggage, re-check in and make it to the next flight at 10:45 to Phoenix on United (Terminal 6 or 7)
That will be difficult. Your United flight will depart from Terminal 7 or 8 - check in and security are in Terminal 7. It's not impossible but things will have to go smoothly and you'll have to hurry.
Thanks a lot ZAP. I have two individual tickets for Emirates and United. Will I be able to check in my baggage through the re-check desk at TBIT? Or will I surely have to carry it all the way to terminal 7?
You will have to carry it to Terminal 7.
Travelling with AA in SEP from sydney to LA. FLIGHT change over in Lax. Do i need to clear customs and reclear by check luggage before i go to domestic terminal and recheck in. or bags will dieectly at vegas i can directly walk to domestic terminal for Vegas flight. Layover time 3 hrs.
Yes, you will arrive in the International Terminal, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, walk next door to Terminal 4, and go through security and to your departure gate. You have enough time.
We arrive at LAX on Delta from Tahiti around 6:30pm but do not leave for Salt Lake until 7:00 the next morning on the same ticket. Can we leave security and get a hotel? We really hate to spend the night there
Delta does not fly to or from Tahiti. When you clear US Customs you will be outside security and free to go where you want, including a hotel. You won't be able to re-check your bags until the morning so you'll have to bring them with you to the hotel.
I guess it is an Air France, code share Delta flight we take from Tahiti to LAX. The flight then onto Salt Lake the next morning is a Delta flight. Both flights are on the same ticket. Will we recheck bags after clearing customs from Tahiti? I have always done that. That would mean we would not have bags with us for the hotel stay in LA. Is that correct? It would certainly speed things up the next morning if we did not have to check bags. I assume because both flights are on the same ticket we will have boarding passes. Is that correct? Would we just need to go from our hotel, go through security and then onto security? What terminal would we be going out of to go to Salt Lake on Delta? How much time should do we need to allow in the airport? Would we need to go to the Delta desk again?
I fly from SFO to LAX by AA and then fly Qantas to Sydney but both reservation are with AA. Can I ask them to ship my luggage to Sydney? 2 hours layover at night (flight to Sydney around 11:35 PM) is enough?
Yes, your luggage will go straight to Sydney. All you have to do is walk through the new secure walkway from your arrival gate in T4 or T6 to your departure gate in the International Terminal. You have enough time.
Thanks. Should I call AA ahead or just wait until I am check in?
You don't have to call them about anything - your bags will automatically be tagged to Sydney when you check-in.
I have a 9 hour layover from a flight from LAS to MCI via LAX and since I am going to be there for awhile. My flight is on July 9th. What kind of time am I looking at to get through security if I want to leave the airport and go sight seeing for a few hours?
I would try to get back to LAX 1.5-2 hours before your flight. You have plenty of time to sightsee if you want.
Hi, I will be arriving in LAX-Terminal B from Hong Kong on Cathay Airways at 2.50pm, and departing to Costa Rica via terminal 5 at 1am via Delta Air Lines. Any recommendation on what I can do during the layover of 10 hours? Thanks
Take a taxi to the Santa Monica Pier.
Thank you. But how about the luggages? Is there a place I can store? I've contacted Delta Airlines and they said I can only check in the baggage 6 hrs prior to departure, and I can't leave the airport once I've dropped the baggage.
You can leave the airport once you've checked baggage - there's nobody to stop you. However, if you want to go have dinner right after you arrive you'll have to take your bags with you.
I have to transit from ZAC (20:30 arrival terminal 2) to NADI (23:30 departure terminal B). The two travels are on different tickets so I have to check out and check in my luggage. Is it possible?
It's barely possible if everything goes smoothly. You'll have to hurry to the International Terminal with your bags re-check them before the the Fiji Airways desk closes.
hi! I start a flight at 7:30a to 10:30a from BWI to LAX, and I have 1h40m for transiting to catch an international flight at 12:10p same day. Can I ask it is possible to catch flight in time?
What airlines are you flying? Where are you flying to? Are your tickets on the same reservation or separate? Do you have checked bags? I can't answer your question without that information.
I fly from BWI to LAX (Alaska Airlines 739 ). In LAX, I have 1h40m to transit and catch an international flight to Incheon ( Asiana Airlines 201). I have 2 checked bags. I think when i come to LAX, I have to check in again with Asiana Airlines.
In that case you have barely enough time if everything goes perfectly.
Flying Melb -LAX then DFW late this month. Change of plans and I dont need to be in DFW anymore. Can I get my bags, clear customs and exit LAX instead (not board the DFW flight)?
Yes, you can, but if this is the outbound leg of your trip, the rest of your itinerary will be canceled if you no-show the flight to DFW.
Hi - I need to overnight near LAX between flights. Am looking for something very clean and convenient with a shuttle. Any suggestions?
There are lots of major chain hotels right near LAX that are all decent and have shuttles. I believe I stayed at the Holiday Inn about 15 years ago.
