  • Alaska Air from Fairbanks to LAX and checkin on Cathay Pacific to HK

I am booked on a flight from Fairbanks to Anchorage to LAX on 22 May 2015 and arriving at LAX on 23 May 2015 at 0650 hours, We have then to check our baggage in with Cathay Pacific for Hong Kong leaving at 0940 hours. Will there be enough time to collect baggage with Alaska Airlines and then travel to the Cathay Pacific Terminal at LAX to check in. Do we have enough time as we have just under 3 hours for al this to happen? Please help. Thank you

Yes, that will be PLENTY of time. You will have your bags by 7:20. Then it's maybe a 10 minute walk to the International Terminal where the Cathay check-in desks are.

Hi thanks for your response. Will I need to go through security and immigration on arrival st LAX with Alaska Airlines from Fairbanks and Anchorage before collecting my baggage? Will I have to then go through another security area with Cathay Pacific?

Arriving into LAX from Melbourne on new United Dreamliner. Arriving Terminal 7 and departing Terminal 7 for Orlando, also on United. Connection time 2:20. I have not found any relevant post about the process in Terminal 7 for UA international arrivals and was wondering if I will have enough time?

Yes, you will have enough time. You will arrive in T7, go through US Immigration, go claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then go upstairs and through security. You should have plenty of time.

I'm flying into LAX for a wedding next weekend, looks like I'll come into Terminal 1. Other family members are arriving about 30 minutes before me, in Terminals 4 and 5. We all need to meet up somewhere to head to our hotel. The other family members are somewhat limited in their mobility. Even though they're getting in earlier it would be best if the Terminal 4 and 5 people could meet up somewhere close to them, and then I can go to them. Any suggestions? Thanks!

The lower level curbfront between Terminals 4 and 5 is probably the best place.

I have a flight booked from Melbourne to Tom Bradley International Airport at LAX which arrives at 6.30am. There's a flight to Kingston, Jamaica at 8.40am from terminal 3 or 4 - would I be able to make it? The only other flights are at 11pm!

It's possible. I'm guessing you would be buying a separate ticket on American connecting in Miami? You will have to hurry with your bags to T4 and re-check them. You should have enough time, but it doesn't leave much time to spare.

Yeah separate tickets so would need to get baggage etc. So it's possible? That's great! Thanks so much for your help

Yeah, I would guess that you'd be out of customs by like 7:15. After you exit customs follow the signs for arriving passengers, not connecting passengers, then exit the International Terminal, then walk to your right (with the flow of traffic). The next building you come to will be AA's terminal, Terminal 4.

Do I have to leave the TSA secure area to check my bags when I arrive from IAD on Virgin America transferring to Virgin Australia to Sydney?

If you purchased your tickets together you won't have to do anything with your bags in LAX. However, you will still have to exit the secure area as you will arrive in Terminal 3 and depart from the International Terminal, which is located next door, but is not connected to T3.

Hi, Im traveling from HNL-LAX-LAS on AA. Our return is LAS-LAX on UA with connecting flt to HNL on AA. My concern is, is there a tunnel/shuttle that allows me to connect from UA's T7/8 to AA's T4 without having to exit the terminal/airport and re-entering all over again going through security? Your folks help will be greatly appreciated.

Upon arrival at T7 or T8, you can walk to T6 inside security and then take a shuttle to T4. https://www.aa.com/i18n/aboutUs/whereWeFly/terminals/terminal_LAX.jsp

haven't booked yet, but i will probably be flying from toronto to palm springs with a connection in lax. the connection time is 90 min. we have customs pre clearance in toronto, which should be allowing the first flight to arrive as a domestic flight rather than an international flight. assuming the first flight arrives on time, would i have enough time to get from terminal 2 to terminal 7/8? thanks

Yes, that should be enough time. The fastest way from T2 to T7 is to walk straight across the airport through the parking garages. It's maybe a 15 minute walk. You will have to go through security again in T7.

I am arriving on a flight from south korea have to connect onto a united air flight concerned with customs and going to united terminal from intl. that I could miss my flight have only 2 hours why is it set up that have to exit one terminal go to another re check in and then proceed thru security all over again

LAX was designed before international airline hubs existed. That's why it is spread over so many terminals. 2 Hours will be difficult. However, any time you enter the US, you have to go through security again, so in that regard LAX isn't any different. It is a difficult, but makeable connection.

AA just changed my arrival in LAX to 8:55am. I have to connect to AS for a 9:45am departure. Separate tickets. Carry on only. Flying First on AS. Can we make the connection? Thanks

Yes, I think you can if you check in online for your AS flight. AA runs a shuttle bus between T4 and T6.

NZ flight arrives 10:30 AM, American Airlines flight departs 12:55 PM terminal 4. Assuming on-time arrival, can I make this connection?

Yes, you should be OK. If you purchased flights together you can drop your bags at the re-check desk after customs in the International Terminal. Otherwise you will have to take it to Terminal 4 and pay a checked bag fee. Either way you should have enough time. Terminal 4 is directly next to the International Terminal (to your right as you exit the International Terminal).

Also, I should point out that Air New Zealand will be moving from T2 to the International Terminal soon. Those are the instructions for the International Terminal. If you arrive in T2, the instructions are similar and you still have enough time, but it's a longer trip between Terminals.

We are flying from Chicago to LAX (using Spirit) And then are thinking of a flight from LAX to Cabo 45 minutes later (using Alaskan Airlines) Can we make it from terminal 3 (where Spirit is) to terminal 6 (where Alaskan Air is) in LAX in 45 minutes? Do we have to go through security again? To complicate matters my wife will be gate checking her wheelchair... Is this even possible?

No, that's not a possible connection you should not have booked this.

And let me explain why - assuming your spirit flight is on-time, you will have to spend at least 5-10 minutes waiting for the wheelchair, then it is approximately 15-20 minute walk from T3 to T6, by a fast walker. With a wheelchair I imagine it will be much slower. Then you will have to go through security in T6, then get to the gate. There is no way you can make it.

Hi we fly into Lax terminal 4 via american airways and fly out of terminal 3 via us airways with a connection time of 75 min both domestic flights. what is the fastest way to do this tight connection?

American & US Airways passengers may use the shuttle stopping at T3's gate 39 & at T4's gate 44.

  • T4-TBIT and lounges

We are flying into T4 on AA. Arrive around 6:45pm. Our TN flight leaves at 10:40 from TBIT. My tickets were purchased separately so I assume not ability to connect the PNRs and get the bags checked all the way (dfw-ppt). Is that correct? I'm an admirals club member but that doesn't help with the one world lounge in TBIT, correct? We are fly TN business class so we have access to their shared lounge in TBIT, however I hear that isn't very nice. Is there anyway to go to TBIT and complete the bag check / boarding pass and go back to the admirals club. Is it even worth it, if that was possible.

No, it's not really worth it. Just use the TN club. The TN check-in counter doesn't even open until 8ish anyways, so there's no point in trying to go elsewhere.,

We are flying into Hnl-lax with BA (under AA) and then on to LHR also with BA after 11hr layover, does anyone know if our luggage will be checked all the way to LHR, or whether we will have to collect luggage and re check in for the international flight later? The flights were all booked as part of a One World RTW ticket. Thanks for any advice!

If your flight to LAX arrives the same day that your flight to LHR departs, then your bags will be checked through to LHR unless you request that they not be.
