  • United connecting flights- 52 min layover
    Dec 21, 2014

My arriving and departing flights are both with United, arriving from Houston - IAH and departing for Honolulu - HNL on the 29th. Should the terminals be the same and should I be worried about a 52 minute layover?

  • Connection time between Term 7/8 and Term 2

We will be arriving into LAX on United at term 7 or 8 at 8:36am and our flight on Hawaiian Air leaves from Term 2.at 10:00am. Carry-on bags only. Is 1:30 enough time to make the connection between terminals and pass thru TSA again? Thanks.

Yes, but you should make sure to print out your Hawaiian boarding pass ahead of time online. Then just run across the airport to T2 and get through security. If your first flight is on-time you should be OK.

My mom's flight TK009 is delayed and it will arrive LAX @ 5.17pm. Her next flight is Southwest 4483 departing @ 6.55pm. Would she make it to her flight on time? Thank you!

She will have to really hurry if she has checked bags to re-check at Southwest.

  • How do I get from terminal 2 to terminal 4
    Dec 15, 2014

I'm flying from Hawaii to Dallas and have a connection in LA - I am coming in on Hawaiian Air at terminal 2 and flying out on American Airlines, Terminal 4. I looked at a map - are their terminals connected or do I have to exit terminal 2 and walk through the parking lots over to terminal 4??? I have a 2 hour layover.

You have to exit Terminal 2 and walk across or around to Terminal 4. 2 hours should be enough time. Check in for your AA flight online before you leave Hawaii.

  • LAX terminal change

I am on a flight coming from PHX to LAX arriving at 7:08 am (terminal 4), however my connection flight is in Terminal 6 and it departs at 8:10 am. The kicker is that I have to check in because I'm switching airline. Do I need to be concerned?

What airlines are you flying? If you do have to collect and re-check your baggage you won't have enough time. If you won't have checked bags you can do it if you check in online before you leave Phoenix.

Sorry for the Caps but i really need some help.... I will be getting into LAX from Sidney Aust(Quantas) at 6:30am and connecting to a Southwest Airline flight to Kansas City MO at 8:45 Am.... I have one big luggage to pick up... I need to know will i have enough time to make it to the southwest terminal in time to make my flight..... How far will i have to walk.... After traveling that many hours, i would be highly upset if I missed my flight and had to reschedule.... If anyone have an idea how i should preceed to my southwest flight, please give me a helping hand... It would be very much appreciated.. Thank You

You should have enough time, but you will have to hurry. The fastest route from the International Terminal where you will arrive to Terminal 1 is to walk. When you exit customs you will follow the signs for passengers ending their journey in Los Angeles, then walk to your left against the flow of vehicle traffic as you exit the building. The third building you come to will be Terminal 1. It is a 10-15 minute walk. I'm guessing you will be out of customs by around 7:15, that leaves you about 45 minutes to get to Terminal 1 and get your bag checked with Southwest. Check in with Southwest online before you leave Australia to get a better boarding position.

  • Departed from Newark, connecting in LAX, traveling to Sydney
    Dec 10, 2014

If anyone can give me a straight answer here, I'm in a panic because my flight from Newark was delayed and has shortened my connection time. I am flying United. Arriving in Terminal 7, Departing from Terminal 8. I believe my luggage is checked all the way to Sydney. Will I have to go through security again in Lax and when will I go through immigration? In Lax or Sydney? Please help!!!!!

No, you will not have to go through security or immigration in LAX. You will go through Australian immigration when you get to Sydney. You should have plenty of time. All United gates at LAX are connected inside security. Both gates will probably be in Terminal 7, no gates in Terminal 8 are large enough to handle the plane that flies to Sydney.

  • Transfer Southwest to Qantas: 3 hours enough?
    Dec 10, 2014

Flying into LAX on Southwest with checked bags, arriving 7:15 pm. Connecting to Qantas, flight leaving 10:20 pm on a Sunday in February. Separate tickets. Is this enough time? How concerned should I be with possible late arrivals on Southwest?

Yes, that should be enough time. Delays at LAX are rare, so if you have a delay it will be at your origin city or wherever your plane is coming into your origin city from.

  • Terminal 1 to Terminal B for Eating purpose

Can I go from terminal 1 to Terminal B (International) for eating. They have good restaurant there. or Can I directly check in to Terminal B with Terminal 1 flight.

There is a food court in the public area of the International terminal but I wouldn't exactly call it good. Terminal 1 is not connected to any other terminal inside security.

  • how much time for TBIT to Delta
    Dec 8, 2014

Arriving at TBIT 10:30 am 1/21 on Air New Zealand, can I make a 1:10 Delta flight (flights booked separately)?

Yes, you should be able to. You will have to take your bags with you to T5 to re-check (follow the signs for passengers ending their journey in Los Angeles, not connecting passengers, when you exit the International Terminal).

  • How much time to get from United Express to Southwest
    Dec 4, 2014

I know I'll need to catch a shuttle and reenter security. Since i am not TSA on Southwest, I would like to know how much time I have to 'do it all' and be at the Southwest gate?

close to 2 hours if you have checked bags. You can do it in 70-80 mins without checked bags.

  • Fly in from Tahiti, time to make connection to CHI?
    Dec 3, 2014

I am looking to book a flight and here is the dilemma. We will be flying back into LAX on Thursday, April 30 from Tahiti at 10:55 AM (travel arrangements already purchased through an agency). We need to get to Chicago and unfortunately the only decent option is to fly out at 12:55 PM. I read there are new kiosks to help speed up the US customs process. Will this be enough time to get through customs, get our checked in bags (likely 2), and re-check in through security and to our gate? We are due to arrive at the International terminal and plan to fly out to Chicago via Delta. Thanks.

It's sort of pushing it. I would want a little more time, but 2 hours is probably doable. I made the same connection in October - we arrived at 10:25 and flew out at 1:10 and had comfortably enough time, but didn't have a whole lot to spare. There are lots of nonstop flights to Chicago on United, American, Virgin America, and Southwest. Why are you stuck to Delta, who does not fly LAX-Chicago nonstop?

American is another option but we have Delta frequent flyer miles and get upgrades (free check in bags, possible 1st class, etc). If push comes to shove, I'll go with American but was curious if anyone thought it would be enough time (but part of me doesn't want to chance it since flights come in late all the time). Also, you're right, there are no non-stop flights (I can't imagine why there aren't) so we'd also have a short layover in MSP. Thank you for the reply.

I need to transfer from terminal 3 to b Korean airline do i need to fo though security screening again

Yes, you will have to go through security again. Depending on the airline you are flying into Terminal 3, you may have to bring your bags with you as well.

Can I go from terminal 1 to Terminal B (International) for eating. They have good restaurant there. or Can I directly check in to Terminal B with Terminal 1 flight.

I am arriving from Hong Kong at 1315. Is it probable to make a 1545 United domestic flight. Carry on baggage only.

Yes, that should be plenty of time. You can check in online for your united flight before you leave Hong Kong.

I see my United flight departure is 1324 not 1345 -- still ok? Arriving on Cathay Pacific @ 1315. Thanks!

    ARGHHH - haste makes waste - arriving @ 1315 Cathay Pacific - departure United @ 1524 not 1545 -- thanks
