  • Sydney - LAX - Vegas

Hi, I am looking at purchasing a flight to Vegas from Sydney with United, and can see that there is exactly 90 minutes in transit time in LA on the way there. Will this be sufficient time to transfer gates/terminals? This fare is being offered on the website but I am still a bit wary. Thanks!

You don't have to transfer terminals. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate in terminal 7 or 8 to your departure gate in Terminal 7. 7 and 8 are connected by a walkway inside security. That's plenty of time.

Hi everyone, my wife and I arrive on Virgin America from Cancun to terminal 2 at 2145, and then fly Virgin Australia to Brisbane from Terminal 3 at 2350, all booked on the same reservation. We will have checked luggage. Is that enough time for us to clear customs, immigration etc and make it to the Departure Gate?

Yes, that should be enough time. Note that while Virgin Australia's check in counters are in Terminal 3, their flights actually depart from the International Terminal. so after clearing customs and re-checking your bags at the re-check desk, if you already have your Virgin Australia boarding passes, you can head straight to the International Terminal.

Hi everyone, i have connect flight from pdx to lax on sep 7 at 7.15-9.39 pm and lax to Tokyo on sep 8 at 1.20-5 am in separate ticket. What should i do with my suitcase? Do you think it enough time to recheck my suitcase or not? Or should i bring only carry on? How to get international from T,5? Thank you

You should have enough time. Just walk from T5 to the International Terminal. It should take less than 10 minutes.

Hi everyone I have a flight from Honolulu to LAX and from there to London heathrow. Both Flights are with UNITED. I only have a 2 hour layover in LAX. Would this be enough because it is the same airline i am traveling with? The ticket was bought together so i think luggage will just be sent to the next plane. Thanks

Yes, all you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both in Terminal 7. You have plenty of time.

  • Westjet Terminal 2 to TBIT

Hi we arrive Tminal 2 on west jet from Vancouver and are heading t TBIT. 2 questions - do you know if we need to collect our bags and clear immigration for the US before heading to TBIT? Do we walk or the the shuttle - we are not young but willing. Thanks for the help. Annie

You will pre-clear US Immigration in Vancouver. if both tickets were bought on the same reservation your bags will be checked through to your other flight. If you purchased two separate tickets then you will have to claim your bags in T2 and take them to the TBIT to re-check with your second carrier. If you can, it is almost always faster to walk than to wait for the shuttle.

Thank you for setting our minds at rest. Very kind

  • From GuangZhou to LAX then to Toronto

Hi everyone, I have flights from GuangZhou arrives in LAX TBIT at 7:40pm, then to Toronto from T2 at 10:10pm. Would i have enough time to go through immigration? The flghts were booked separately so I would have to check-in again. Good thing is that I don't have luggages. Also, any suggestions on how to transfer between terminals? Would walking be an option?

    Many thanks in advance!!!!

Yes, at that time that should be enough time, especially without checked bags. Just walk from the TBIT to T2. It should take less than 10 minutes.

Thank you so much!!!! Very much appreciated!!!

hi, i'll be arriving from tokyo w/ layover at lax then take another flight to go to sfo all under delta under 1 ticket/itinerary reservation. i have 2hrs and 30 min layover in lax, is this enough time? would i have to go to immigration then collect my bags before my connecting flight? also, will i go to the sign saying "connecting flights"? thanks.

Yes, that is enough time. Yes, you have the procedure correct, I'm not totally familiar with the signage of the international arrivals hall in Terminal 5 where you will arrive, but the re-check desk should be fairly apparent after you clear customs.

    Many thanks!

Is there a shuttle bus inside security that runs between t6 and tbit? I'm trying to avoid going out of security.

No, there is not. There are no shuttle buses from any terminal inside security to the TBIT.

Arriving tomorrow on United @ 1930 and changing to ANZ @ 2230. I see you recommend walking as opposed to using shuttle. Approx how long at a normal or slightly fast pace? Thanks for the info.

It's about a 10 minute walk at a normal/slightly brisk pace. You should have plenty of time, especially if your bags are checked through to ANZ.

I booked an Air Tahihi Nui flight from JFK to LAX to PPT (Papette, Tahihit) all on the same ticket. The Air Tahiti Nui flight from JFK is operated by American Airlines and arrives at LAX at 9:54pm. My flight from LAX to PPT leaves LAX at 11:40pm which allows 1 hr & 40 minutes for American to transfer my luggage to my connecting Air Tahiti Nui flight. I am assuming this is doable otherwise Air Tahiti Nui would not have packaged the flights this way. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Yes, that is enough time if your flight is on-time, but you will have to stop at the Air Tahiti Nui ticket counter to get new boarding passes, even if AA is initially able to issue them.

My mother in law is coming in on US Air from PHL and then transferring to American Eagle in Sept. Does US Air come into terminal 6 ... is there a bus that will take her to American Eagle?

Yes, US Air is currently using Terminal 6. You can walk inside security from T6 to T4 via underground walkways (passing through T5 first)

wondering if anyone can help. I arrive in LAX at 0655 at Thomas Bradley airport and have a flight out to ny at 0910 from terminal 5. Is that lots of time

That's enough time assuming both tickets were purchased on the same reservation, but it's not "lots" of time.

thanks, yes, ticket all done at same time. actually flying from nova scotia to Brisbane and then back to Canada via LA/NY to Halifax.I know this is a very hectic airport.

I depart from San Diego and arrive at Terminal 8 LAX at 7.50pm, and I have a LAX-Melbourne Australia flight from Terminal 7 departing 10.30pm. Have I allowed enough time to make it on to the flight to Melbourne?

Yes, that is plenty of time. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. 7 and 8 are connected inside security.

I would just walk, but you have plenty of time to take the shuttle if you want to and that's easier for you, which it probably will be.

I'm coming from Tokyo and will arrive at Terminal 6, i need to get to Terminal 5 for a flight to SD, my final destination. I have checked in bags, so do i need to get the bags, then immigration and then get to terminal 5? or can i get to terminal 5 directly without collecting my bags?

You will have to collect your bags to go through US Customs. What airline are you flying from Tokyo? No airlines that fly to Tokyo use Terminal 6.
