  • FRA-LAX-HNL in 93 minutes?

Hi everyone, Arriving on Lufthansa at 4.40pm from FRA in September. Then leaving on United to HNL at 6:15pm. Is it enough 93 minutes layover for migration, customs and change of Terminal from Tom Bradley to T-7? Do I need to drop-off again after clear customs my cheched and tagged luggage? if yes, where? at Terminal B or at T-7 ? Many thanks !

You will arrive in the TBIT, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, follow signs for connecting passengers, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then exit the TBIT and walk to your right. The fourth building you come to will be T7. Go inside and through security. You have just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

Thanks! I hope it works! Drop-off at Tom Bradley Terminal after clear customs. Great!! that's clear now. I will move fast on walk between terminals and I'll try to ask permit to avoid ques at migration lanes. On the other side, in case of a late arrival of the incoming flight (Lufthansa), does United rebook myself in the next following available flight, even taking care of my accomodation and meals if I'm rebooked the next following day? Thanks in adavance for your time.

  • DEN->LAX->MEL

Hi, I arrive from DEN to LAX at 8:20PM, and depart LAX to MEL at 10:20PM. Will this be enough time to make the connection? Both flights are with United, on the same ticket. When I arrived (MEL->LAX, LAX->DEN), I had to go through security again at LAX. Will I have to do this on the way out too? Thanks

It looks like MEL->LAX arrived at the TBIT terminal, and LAX->DEN departed from T7, and there's no secure transit from TBIT to T7 so this is why I needed to go through security again. But from what I can tell, on my way out DEN->LAX arrives into T7 and LAX->MEL departs from T7, so I shouldn't have to go through security check again, and 2 hours should be plenty of transit time. Is this correct?

You actually had to go through security again on Arrival because you were arriving on an International flight - everyone who does that and has an onward connection does, even if it's in the same terminal. On your way to MEL all you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate in Terminal 7. You have enough time.

Travelling from Houston to LAX to catch a connecting flight to Vancouver. Have about 3.5 hour layover. No checked baggage. Carry on only. Do I have to go through security again after landing at LAX ?

And I am flying AA from IAH and again to YVR.

No, you do not have to go through security at LAX. All AA gates are connected inside security.

Hi we arrive at LAX at at 315 pm with Lufthansa and have a connection to Maui at 539 pm with United. All legs are under the same ticket and are in First Class. As Belgian citizens we are not eligible fro the GE program. We have checked bagage. Can we lake this connection? Is there a fast track for immigration if you fly First Class?

Yes, that should be just enough time if everything goes smoothly. There is no fast track for immigration for first class passengers, but you are eligible to use the kiosks like US and Canadian citizens if you have entered the US on ESTA previously.

Hello. My flight from Narita with ANA arriving at Bradley Terminal at 9:50am and departing at 12:45pm for Reagan National at Terminal 4 with AA. With checked baggage. Tickets not under same reservation. Is 2Hr 55Min enough time for everything? Thanks.

Yes, that is just enough time if everything goes perfectly. Check in for your AA flight online before you leave Japan. You will have to transfer your bags yourself to T4 to re-check them with AA if you have checked bags.

Thanks ZAP! "just enough time" meaning no extra time for coffee break... sigh

  • LA terminal 6 to terminal 4

Arriving on American at Terminal 4 at 5:30pm need to get to Terminal 6 for another American flight at 6:30pm. Do I have enough time to make this connection? What's the best route between these 2 terminals?

There is an underground tunnel that connects terminals 4 and 6 inside security through Terminal 5. That is the fastest way. You have enough time if the first flight is on-time.

    Thanks Zap!

For those who might know; I have a flight arriving KC-LAX in terminal 4; my connection to Sacto is in terminal 6 with a 37 min layover. Same airline/reservation (American). It seems tight but is it doable? Any advice?

It'll be difficult as your flight to Sacramento will actually depart from the American Eagle remote terminal, which requires taking a shuttle bus from Terminal 6. Also, note that the Kansas City-LAX flight on AA often appears to arrive in Terminal 6, so that will help.

Hi I have a flight from Sacramento arriving at LAX at 8:26pm (terminal 6) and departing for Nadi, Fiji at 11:30 pm from TB. This is for Sept 2nd. Is this enough time to make it?

Yes, that should be enough time.

    thanks

I'm arriving at Lax next Tuesday at 16:15 from Madrid at Terminal B. I have a 2h5 min for a connection to San Francisco with AA from terminal 6. No checked luggage. Both tickets under same reservation. Is enough time? Thanks

Sorry, my mistake, the time for the connection is 2h05min

Yes, that should be enough time.

  • walking route from T-6 to T-1

Is it possible to walk from T-6 to T-1 in less than 40 minutes? and what is the route

Yes, definitely. Though the timing depends a bit on exactly what you are asking. If you have a 40-minute connection from when your arriving flight gets to the gate at T6 until your departing flight leaves T1, then no. But once you clear baggage claim in T6, you can walk to T1 in about 10 minutes, or catch a shuttle. There are multiple ways to walk this, but the fastest is to walk directly across the airport (rather than around the terminal loop). You'll go toward the theme building (space age structure) and just follow sidewalks across to the terminals on the other side. You'll come out by T2, and T1 is just to your right.

Just to clarify, the reason I said you can't make a 40-minute connection is the security time. But your question appeared to be just about the walk itself. That is only 10 minutes, max.

I arrive from a Portland flight at T1 and must reach a flight at T6 in 40 minutes -- will have to go through TSA inspections again?

forgot to mention I have only carry on baggage (no checked baggage)

Yes, you will have to go through security again. That is not enough time.

Canadians Arriving from Papeete into Lax at 10:55 am. Hoping to make a West Jet flight at 12:40 pm. Basically 1 hr 40 min if everything on time. Is this sufficient connecting time. Thinking we have to change terminals as well

With checked bags, no I wouldn't recommend trying that. I would recommend at least 2.5 hours.

Sorry, my mistake. Arrive at 10:15 am from PPT for west jet flight to YYZ departing at 12:40. So 2 hrs 25 min if everything on time.

We both have Global Entry as well if that helps.

  • Arrive Terminal 6, depart Tom Bradley

Arriving Terminal 6 on Alaska and flying to Hong Kong Cathay, single ticket. Will I need to go through security at Tom Bradley terminal or is there a way to walk directly to my departing cathay gate?

You can now take a pedestrian tunnel from T6 through T5 to T4 and then take the new pedestrian walkway to the International Terminal inside security.

I have about an 1hr 50min Layover in LAX. I have to go from terminal 4 - 6 do I take a shuttle bus or walk and go through security again?

Neither. You can walk through tunnels inside security. You have plenty of time.
