  • Terminal connection in LA
    Aug 14, 2016
Hi, I am arriving from Doha on QR739 to LAX (Terminal 2) at 02:05pm and my onward travel is at 05:15pm on AA209 to SFO. Do I need to go through customs/immigration, claim baggage and recheck-in with American Airlines ? The booking does not specify the departure Terminal for AA209. Is AA209 connection in the same terminal ? My return is also via LAX. So would the immigration/passport control be in SFO or LAX ? Do I need to collect the bags and recheck-in at LAX ? Please advise

If all tickets are on the same reservation, you will arrive in Terminal 2, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then walk or take the shuttle to Terminal 4 or 6 (your flight could depart at either), then go through security and to your departure gate). On the return, all you have to do is go from your arrival terminal to Terminal 2 and go through security. There is no US Immigration or Customs when leaving the US. You have enough time.

Hi we are arriving at TBIT at 6-30am with virgin australia and have a connecting flight with westjet at 8-45 am is this enough time and do we have to go through customs thanks george

Yes, you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags, go to Terminal 2, and go through security and to your departure gate. If you have two separate reservations you will have to take your bags with you to T2 to re-check with Westjet. This is a very difficult connection.

Hi thanks for your help i forgot to say the connecting flight on westjet is to Calgary Canada i think it is on the one booking

Our Delta flight from Seattle to LA has been delayed so now we have 1 hr to make our connecting flight to Belize. Is there enough time to make it? Do we have to go through any additional security? Oh, we leave for airport in 2.5 hrs and jsut got notified by Delta.

If both flights are on Delta all you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. There is no additional security. You have enough time.

Flying from Tahiti on Tahiti Nui arriving at LAX at 1010am. Need to book a connecting flight to Chicago with American or United. What is a safe departing time for this booking? Would a 1250am flight allow enough time?

    I wouldn't book anything before 1:15 PM.

  • How much time do I need to go from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1?
    Aug 11, 2016
I am flying in on Hawaiian Airlines arriving at 5:30 a.m. & departing Terminal 2 at 7:25 a.m.? Is 2 hours enough time?

Without checked bags that should be enough time. With checked bags that's a bit more difficult. I assume you meant departing terminal 1?

Yes - departing from Terminal 1 - THANKS!!

Yes, you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go to your departure terminal, go through security and to your departure gate. If I fly on AA from Vegas to LA, then change to international flight, do i still need to go through security check again? Will my baggages be transferred from AA to my international sector with my ticket on one reservation? Is it enough time with only 1hr50min layover at LAX?

If both flights are on AA then all you have to do in LAX is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time.

  • Connecting Flight
    Aug 10, 2016
hi I am flying from Indonesiaa to LA with China Airlines. I will be arriving at terminal B LAX 2.50PM, and I'll be continuing to Dallas with a connecting flight using Virgin America at 5.20PM. Will I have enough time to make it to my next flight as i still have to go through the immigration and luggage checking process? And will there be any shuttle bus available?

That should be just enough time. It's much easier to just walk from the International Terminal where you arrive to Terminal 3 where you depart than to take the shuttle bus (which will take you away from Terminal 3 first).

Hi, I arrive at LAX at 6.35am on a Qantas flight. Have I allowed enough time if I book a 9.55am American Airlines flight to Vancouver? Booked separate tickets with checked luggage. Thanks!

  • Terminal B to 7
    Aug 9, 2016
I'm travelling Sydney to LA then onto Orlando on Sep 3, my layover is 2 and a half hours, so I have to get from Terminal B to 7 in that time. Would it be enough? I've read that it will be, but also that it might not be. Seeing as it will be a Saturday would it be busier at LAX? Thanks

Saturday is the least busy day of the week. You should have enough time.

Oh thats good to hear! Thank you :)

  • from Terminal 6 to terminal 4
    Aug 9, 2016
I'm arriving from Toronto to LA at T6 and than departing LA to Auckland NZ from T4. Layover is 1 hour and 20 minutes. How long it takes to walk from T6 to T4 or should I use a shuttle? thanks

Are both flights on American? If so you should take the pedestrian tunnel from T6 through T5 to T4.

Yes they are. Thanks a lot for the tip. By the way how long it will take me thru that tunnel from T6 to T4?

It shouldn't take more than 15-20 minutes. Be sure to check your exact departure gate on or the monitors.

G'day. We're arriving into LA from Brisbane on Virgin. We have a Delta flight from LA to Nashville (3 hours later). We booked tickets seperatly. Once we collect luggage and clear customs, where do we recheck out luggage to get it on the Delta flight to Nashville?

Since you purchased two separate reservations you will take your bags to Terminal 5 to re-check them with Delta.

Thanks for the info. Greatly appreciated.
