  • Flying from SD to LAX to Tokyo

Using Delta and will have 2 checked-in bags from SD -> LAX. Never travelled in LAX before, so do I have to go to the international terminal even though I am traveling with Delta for both flights? Do I have to go through customs? Thanks.

No, you do not have to go to the International Terminal. Delta international flights leave from Terminals 5 and 6. All their gates are connected inside security. All you have to do in LAX is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. There is no US Customs when leaving the US.

Can I go to TBIT to shop if my flight is out of Terminal 5?

  • Getting to T7

Hi there I see there is a lot of roadwork and delay around the international terminal. Can I get out of the shuttle at T1 and walk across to T7, rather than wait the 30 mins it takes to go all the way round?

Yes, you can walk straight across the parking garage or the lower level from T1 to T7. it is much faster than taking the shuttle.

    Thanks!

Eva Air flight from TAI PEI gets in at 19:25 and have a flight on Southwest at 21:10. Do we have enough time to disembark, collect bags, clear US customs, recheck bags and get through TSA?

That's barely enough time if everything goes perfectly.

  • Connection from TBIT to Delta (Terminal 5)

Hello, We arrive into LAX (TBIT) from Tahiti on Air Tahiti Nui at 11.05am on Monday 21 March 2016. I want to book a connection (separate ticket) on Delta, who I understand operates from Terminal 5, from LAX to Las Vegas at 15:10 on the same day (Monday 21 March 2016). This is just over 4 hours connection time between the two flights (separate tickets and I don't think there is an interline agreement between Air Tahiti Nui and Delta). Is this enough time to clear passport control/immigration, collect luggage in TBIT and then walk to Terminal 5, check in, drop bags and get to the flight on time for a 15:10 departure on the same day? Many thanks in advance for any help, it is much appreciated. Chris

Yes, a 15:10 flight would be fine.

Thank you that is very useful. Is TBIT about a 10 minute walk to Terminal 5?

    Yes, 5-10 minutes,.

  • Walking vs LAX A Shuttle

Hi, good morning! We are traveling on Jan 1st from AMS to LAX with KLM, according to the itinerary we arrive at TBIT at 11:45am and our next flight to SAN (with Delta) departs from terminal 5 at 2:55pm - both in a single ticket. I am aware we will have to follow some steps when arriving to the US (immigration, claiming bags, customs, re-cheking bags) and I am guessing we will have to go through security again on T5. My question is: would it be better to take a walk from TBIT to T5 or should we take the A Shuttle instead? Which should be faster? Thank you very much in advance!

It's almost always faster to walk than take the shuttle. It's not far from the TBIT to T5.

Great! Thank you. Would it take us around 20 minutes? Do we need to get out of the terminal building to take this walk? Thanks agains!

Yes, after re-checking your bags you will exit the International terminal and walk to your right (with the flow of vehicle traffic). The Second building you come to will be Terminal 5. You will go through security there.

Thank very much you for the quick reply!

Arriving with AA3 from JFK and flying on with AA 297 to HNL has 1:20 layover time. Is that enough?

  • Getting from T6 (Alaskan lounge) to T5 (Delta flight)

I am flying out of T5 on Delta to SYD but considering using the Alaskan lounge on T6. Is the tunnel the best way to connect and if so how long does it take to walk?

Yes, just take the tunnel. It will take 5 minutes.

I land at 14.08 at T4 with AA and have to make an international flight with BA from Tom Bradley at 16.05 on same day It is a Tuesday, I am hand luggage only. Separate bookings. Am I going to make the connection and any tips to speed me through?

That should be enough time. All you have to do is walk 1 building over from T4 to the International Terminal, get your BA boarding pass if you don't already have it, and go through security.

From Melb Qantas flight arriving @ LA 0635 terminal B then connecting flight to New York Qantas departing @0820 terminal B,is this enough time to go through customs and check in etc

Yes, that is enough time. The early morning Qantas arrivals are coordinated so that the they all connect properly to the one that continues to New York.

  • Connection time for international arrival through to domestic flight

Hi, We are flying from Cancun to LA on a Saturday arriving at 825pm and would like to take a separately booked domestic flight onto Vegas. What would be a safe amount of time (or safe time to book flight) to allow clearing immigration with checked baggage as we are from Australia.

You really would have to look at something after 10:30 PM. I don't think you are likely to find a flight that late. Plan on spending the night in LA.

  • which terminal?

Which terminal do flights from Hawaii arrive? I am supposed to pick someone up and they didn't tell me what airline! Thank you...

Hawaiian Airlines uses Terminal 2, Delta Airlines uses Terminal 5 and 6, American Airlines uses Terminal 4, Allegiant Airlines uses Terminal 3, and United Airlines uses Terminal 7. All of them fly to Los Angeles from Hawaii. They will either have to tell you their airline or call you once they arrive to tell you where they are.

Delta changed our flight time so we only got 45 minutes to transfer from Terminal 6 to International Terminal B (SAN->LAX->Shanghai. It's same ticket. Do we have time? I have a 5 year old toddler with me. Do we need to recheck through security?

Yes, you will have to go through security again in the International Terminal. Contact Delta and ask for an earlier flight to LAX.

I'm flying from SFO to LAX on Delta and land at T5. Then I have to get to T2 for flight to Amsterdam. I have 2.5 hour layover. Should I walk to T2? Does it seem like a legal connection?

No flights to Amsterdam leave from Terminal 2. KLM uses the International Terminal. You should have enough time.

Will be flying on Alaska Airlines from SEA to LAX. We arrive at 6:30p, in Terminal 6 (I think) and then must connect with Virgin Australia (Terminal 3 ?), which leaves at 9:55p. Have separate tickets for each airline so we must handle baggage. Is 3 1/2 hrs enough connection time?.

Yes, that should be enough time.
