What do I need to do to transfer between terminals if using a wheelchair?

If you arrive with your own wheelchair notify your airline attendant that you will need a Skycap to get you down to the shuttle bus connecting all terminals outside (your wheelchair will be retrieved from the aircraft hull). If you need a wheelchair on arrival you need to contact your airline way in advance, so that a representative can meet you at the gate. The Airport shuttle bus is equipped with a lift. On arrival at your connecting terminal, you will need a skycap to get you to your gate. You may also want to contact the LAWA (the airport operator) Coordinator, Lawrence Rolon, at 424-646-5005 and/or open the Guide for Individuals with Disabilitities at http://www.lawa.org/uploadedFiles/LAX/pdf/Guide%20for%20Individuals%20with%20Disabilities.pdf

  • Distance from terminal 3 to terminal 5

How long does it usually take to travel from terminal 3 to terminal 5 please??

You can either walk or take the shuttle bus between T3 & T5. (a) You can take the LAX bus Route A on lower arrival level island in front of each terminal, under sign 'LAX shuttle airline connection', which runs every 12-15 mins. (next stops TBIT, T4,T5 - 3 stops or about 7 mins.) (b) or you can walk from T3 to the right, around the bend, passing TBIT (international terminal), around the bend to T4 and on to separate T5 - estimated time 15-17 mins; in both instances you need to go through security check at T5.

Thank you for the quick response, How far would you say it is from t 3 to t 5? and if we are arriving on a flight and making a connection why would we have to pass through security? Thanks

We are 4Psgr arriving at T2 by AF at 02.15PM connecting DL T5 leaving 03.24PM to LAS. This is our first time travel how could we proceed to cash our flight Thank you for reply and your cooperation

    1. You need to first find out if Air France transfers your bags at LAX to your connecting Delta flight - if not, you would have to take your bag from T2 to T5 & check it in at Delta counter. 2. As an international arrival at LAX Airport, you need to go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance and - if transferring to another flight - re-check-in bag (the tag should indicate layover and final destination Airport Codes) - estimated time: 35-40 mins. 3. Thereafter you need to exit T2 and take the LAX bus Route A on lower arrival level island in front of each terminal, under sign 'LAX shuttle airline connection', which runs every 12-15 mins. Your next stops after T2 will be T3, TBIT, T4, T5 - 4 stops or 10 mins. 4. At T5 you need to go through security check before proceeding to your gate. (T5 has gates 50-69). No time to waste!

I am flying from HNL to LAX on delta airplan and then departing LAX to Bos on United airplan 50 mins later. Are I have enought time to tranfer and whichwaythe paster way get in. such a short layover I worry my bag won't get transferred in time. Thanks

Prior to arrival at LAX, you need to find out if Delta (arriving a Terminal 5 - T5) transfers your bags automatically to your United connection. If not, you would have to claim your bags and re-check them in at the United counter at either T6 - gates 60-77 or T8 - gates 70-77 - your ticket & the overhead screens on arrival will indicate gate Terminal & gate number). You have two options to connect between terminals: (a) walking: T5, T6, & T7 are connected by underground tunnel; a short walkway from T7 leads to T8. (b) taking the bus: The LAX bus Route A on lower arrival level island in front of each terminal, under sign 'LAX shuttle airline connection', which runs every 12-15 mins. and takes from T5 to T8 about 7 mins. In either case you will need to go through security check at your departing terminal before proceeding to your gate. If Delta is not delayed & will transfer bags, you have plenty of time; otherwise hurry!

  • T7 to T4, 90 minutes

Am flying into T6 on a United flight from Sydney. Have 90 minutes to get to T4 for an American Eagle flight back home - it was the only way to do it without a 24 hour delay. Will have carryon only. What is the best, fastest way to get from T7 to T4? Will I have to go through security again? I will only have a carryon bag, nothing to declare. Any help appreciated!

On arrival at LAX you need to go through passport check, go through customs clearance and proceed to the ground level; there go down the escalator and take the tunnel to T5; go up the escalator at T5, step out and walk to the left to T4. You will have to go through security check at T4 before moving on to your connecting gate. You have enough time.

How do I get from Terminal 6 to TBIT without taking the bus?

At LAX on arrival at T6 go down to the ground level, take the excalator down to the tunnel connecting to T5, go up escalator, exit T5, and walk to the left passing T4, and around the bend to TBIT, where you need to go through security check before proceeding to your gate.

  • Delta/KLM San Diego to Amsterdam

We'll be flying from San Diego to LAX on a Delta flight operated by Skywest, then getting on a KLM flight to Amsterdam (on the way to Bucharest). What will we have to do when we land at LAX?

While I have no Skywest listing, Delta uses at LAX Airport Terminal 5 and KLM Terminal 2. On arrival at T5, you need to exit the terminal and take the LAX bus Route A on lower arrival level island in front of each terminal, under sign 'LAX shuttle airline connection', which runs every 12-15 mins. Your next stops will be T6, T7, T8, around the bend to T1 and T2 - five stops or about 12 mins. At T2 you will have to go through security check before proceeding to your gate. HOWEVER, make sure that Skywest will transfer your bags to KLM connecting flight - if not you need to claim your bag on arrival and re-check it in with KLM at T2.

I am arriving at T5 on a domestic flight at 930 PM and leave from TBIT at 1130 PM. No checked bags. Is this enough time? What is the minimum transfer time?

As you have no bags to deal with, you have plenty of time for transfer at LAX: I suggest you walk: exit T5, walk over past T4, around the corner to TBIT, go through security and on to your connecting gate. (The LAX blue bus on the isle across from each terminal runs every 12-15 mins, but goes the other way around, making seven stops at each terminal to TBIT - another 18 mins or so).

how much time will it take me from international airport to terminal 5?

At LAX, arriving at the Bradley (TBIT) terminal and exiting it, you have two choices to get to T5: Either walk (to the right) around the bend passing T4 to T5 - taking about 10 mins; or using the shuttle bus route A on lower arrivals level island, which runs about every 15-20 mins and would take about 5 mins. In both instances you need to go through security check at T5 before moving on to your gate. (T5 has gatess 50-69).

There was a shuttle inside security when Delta had a codeshare with AE. It may have stopped. Do I have to exit security on 5 and go thru it again on 4?

At LAX Terminals 4 and 5 are not connected. You need to exit T5, walk over to T4 & then go through security check at T5. If you have checked bags, make sure Delta transfers bags to AE, if not you need to claim your bag at T5 and check it in with AE at T4, before proceeding to your gate.

I am arrving via Delta at Terminal 5, then retrieve my baggae and proceed to tom Bradly termunal for my international flight and check in at Philippine airlines. How do I get to TB after getting my baggages? Thank you.

On arrival at LAX Airport at T5 you have two options: (a) exit T5 and walk to the left to T4, walk around the curve to Bradly - 10 mins.; (b) take the the LAX bus Route A on lower arrival level island in front of each terminal, under sign 'LAX shuttle airline connection', which runs every 12-15 mins. Your the next stops are T6 to T8, around the bend to T1 to T3 and around the curve to Bradley - 7 stops or 18 mins. In either case count in the extra time for baggage checkin, security check & gate connection. At Bradley, past ticket counters A to F are the escalators (at A & F) leading to the TSA Screening, and past that you have in the center bus gates 107-112 and bus gates 113-118, as well as Gates 101-108 to the left, and gates 119 -123 to the right. Look at overhead screens to find your connecting gate number.

I willchoose to walk because I have two pcs of baggages to check in.Thank you so much for your reply. At least I will know what to do.

  • Short layover/checked luggage

I am flying IAD to LAX next week on UAL 731 (777 aircraft) and then departing LAX to San Luis Obispo 46 mins later. According to my research I will most likely be arriving at gate 74 and departing from 71. Should I be concerned about my checked luggage getting on my flight to SBP? I'm elite status on UAL but with such a short layover I worry my bag won't get transferred in time. Thanks!

You won't have to worry about baggage transfer if your flights are via United /United Express. However, keep in mind that United uses T6 (gates 60-77)& T7 (gates 70-77), and United Express uses gates 80-88. If you need to transfer from T to T, keep in mind that T6 & T7 are connected by a tunnel, and T8 has a short walkway to T7. Transfer would also involve going through security check before proceeding to gate. You would have to hurry. Do scan the overhead screens on arrival for your departing gate!

We are arriving at terminal 4 and departing at terminal 4. How do we get from the arrival area to departure area?

When arriving at LAX, Terminal 4, look at overhead screens for your connecting flight number and gate. Terminal 4 has gates 41-49. Follow signs to your connecting gate.

  • Can I make TBIT to Terminal 4 in 2 hrs?

My trip is Sydney-Los Angeles-Orlando...arriving on Qantas to TBIT (Terminal B), then have only 2 hrs before I have to leave from Terminal 4 on American for Florida. Will I get my checked bag and go thru Customs then check it in again? How do I get from TBIT to Customs to Terminal 4? The 12-15 min for shuttle bus I'm reading about seems like a long time, better to walk/run? Would like to know if this is a nail-chewing, hectic deal time-wise or no biggie. Thank you experienced travelers!

    1. You need to contact Qantas to make sure they transfer your bags at LAX to your connecting American Airlines flight - if not you need to take your bag to Terminal 4 and re-check it in with AA. 2. Qantas is listed as being in Terminals 4 (gates 42-49) and the International Bradley terminal ("TBIT" or TB" - gates 107-123) - you ticket should indicate terminal/ gate. If arriving at T4, Qantas bus will shuttle you to TBIT for Customs procedure. 3. When exiting T4, TBIT is to your left around the bend, a 5-minute walk (the bus goes the other way (TBIT to T4-T8 over to T1-T3, back to TBIT). Whether you need to re-check-in your bag at T4 or go straight on through security and on to your gate - you have enough time.

I only have a one hour layover between flights from SLC and to Sydney. The SLC flight normally comes into Terminal 5 and the flight to Sydney takes off from Gate 53. I can't seem to locate Gate 53. Does anyone know if I should be able to make the conncection on time?? Thanks!!

At LAX Airport, Terminal 5 with gates 50-69 serves Delta and Virgin Australia - all you need to do is switch over to your connecting gate 53.
