I have a connecting flight Toronto to lax terminal 2 , 9 hr layover then connecting flight lax term 7 to Melbourne - 1 do I have to collect my checked baggage and take over to t7 - also we were going to leave airport for a while bc of long layover - we can check bags and then leave for a few hours is that ok

If you purchased your tickets together your baggage will be checked through to Melbourne. Yes, you can leave the airport.

  • Alaska flight PDX to Cabo, 1 hour connect through LAX

Is an hour long enough to make a connection from one Alaska flight (domestic) to another (international)? I'm considering a fight from Portland, connecting through LAX, to Cabo and the connection is 61 minutes. Thank you.

Yes, that should be enough time. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Is a half hour enough time from when we land to when the next plane takes off in LAX?

  • Going through LAX from Vancouver on way to Mexic with our dog in cargo

Will we have to pick up our dog when we land in LAX on our way to Mexico. We have about 1 hour between flights?

No, you should not. You will pre-clear US Customs in Vancouver so your dog should be transported directly between aircraft at LAX.

  • SW to HA separate bookings

We are traveling via SW to LAX and then changing to HA to fly to HNL. SW is in T1, where do we pick up our luggage to then check-in with HA to go through security to T2 for the flight to HNL? we have 5 hours from landing to lift off between flights but it is a Saturday at noon.

You will go to the baggage claim in T1, get your baggage, carry it to T2, and go to the Hawaiian Airlines check-in counter to re-check it, then go through security.

  • 1h20 min stopover, is it enough time?

Hey everyone, I'm flying from Sydney (Australia) to NYC (JFK). I have a connection at LAX. I arrive terminal 5 (from Sydney) and leave from the same terminal 5 to JFK. Apparently I will have to get my bag, go through U.S customs. check-in my bag, and go through customs again... Do you think 1h20 min is enough time to do all this? I'm flying with Delta all the way, and both flights have been booked together as part of the same ticket. Thank you so much for your input.

That should barely be enough time. You go through US Immigration (where they check your passport), collect your bags, go through US Customs (where you hand in a form stating what you are bringing into the country), and then re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then you go to the departure level and through security.

Do you think I should try to change my flights then or is it doable? Would you personally risk it? Thanks again for your time.

I would risk it. As it's all the same carrier if you do miss your connection they should take care of you, there's lots of options to re-book you and get you to NYC.

Great! I'll take my chance then. Thanks again for taking the time to answer my questions. Much appreciated! Max :)

  • Connecting from International to Domestic

Hi We will be arriving internationally from London into LAX (reward/miles booking) and then getting a domestic flight to LAS - either on Delta on AA. As we will need to clear immigration and collect bags and then re-checkin bags for domestic - either Terminal 4/5 - what would you suggest is the min. requirement of time between flights? London flight arrives 12:40 (June, 3) So I have options of departing LAX: Delta : 15:05 or 17:05 (Terminal 5) or AA: 16:35 (terminal 4) Any advice would be most helpful thanks

Any of them should work. The 15:05 is slightly risky if you are delayed, but I don't think that risky.

thanks I went with the 16:35 many thanks

  • Connecting TBIT - Teminal 4

Would be arriving at TBIT at 12:40 (on A380, long to disembark maybe ?) and need to connect to terminal 4 for a flight at 15:25. Enough time ? Also, with flights on a same tickets bought through Brtish Airways (second flight is with AA) will I have to collect my luggage, clear customs, and dop it once its done ? Thank you ! Ps: other connecting option is more than 4 hours, but more expansive ...

Yes, that should be enough time. You will arrive in the TBIT, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then walk from the TBIT to T4 (which is adjacent to the TBIT), then go through security and to your departure gate.

    Thanx

  • Enough Layover TIMe?

Will I have enough time to get to terminal 8 from terminal 4 with an hour layover?

If you bought two separate tickets and have checked baggage, absolutely not. With no checked baggage or if tickets were purchased together, barely if you run.

How much time I need to go international terminal from southwest terminal 1

The walk itself takes maybe 15-20 minutes. However, if you are arriving in the International Terminal you will have to go through US Immigration and Customs first. Note that you will have to take your baggage with you to Terminal 1 as well as Southwest does not interline baggage with any other airlines.

I am arriving from New York on a united flight into terminal 7 and have a connecting flight with Air New Zealand (all on one ticket) from Tom Bradley terminal to Melbourne (3 hour lay over). Do I have to go through customs at LAX to collect bags and recheck in and how do I get from one terminal to the next ( i am happy to walk if this is quicker than shuttle buses) and is the 3 hours enough time to do this?

Note that Air New Zealand does not fly from LAX to Melbourne nonstop. If you are flying nonstop to Melbourne that flight will be operated by United as well from Terminal 7. You will not have to go through Customs at LAX. There is no US Customs upon leaving the US.

If it is on one ticket then your bags should be checked through Melbourne at the United check-in in New York. You will not need to re-check your bags with Air NZ at LAX. Air NZ fly to Melbourne via Auckland, NZ so you will be held in the AKL transit lounge. You will uplift your bags in Melbourne after Australian Customs and then go through the Australian Immigration check point (they are checking for undeclared fruit and drugs) where your bags will be scanned

we arrive air Tahiti at 10 15 am and depart Southwest 12.05 is that enough time to clear customs and recheck bags

Barely. You will have to hope lines at immigration are short and absolutely sprint to Terminal 1 to get there on time with your bags.

  • SFO to LAX land at 21:15. Connecting flight to MELB,AUS at 22:15

The flight from SFO lands at terminal 7 with United and our connecting flight to Melbourne leaves from terminal 7 also. I am just inquiring as to whether or not this will be enough layover time to catch our flight. Do we have to go through customs at LAX?

That should be plenty of time. You do not go through US Customs when leaving the US. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Arriving QF 6:50am; Flying to SEA 8:50am. Global Entry. Booked separately but will check luggage through to SEA from SYD. Enough connection time?

Yes, that should be enough time. The walk from the International Terminal to T6 shouldn't take more than 15 minutes.,
