  • Qantas to Delta
    Jan 8, 2016
I will be arriving on a Qantas flight at 6:25 AM, and need to make it to Delta Airlines at 8:50 AM. Do I have enough time? Will I be able to check my luggage thru at the international terminal? Any good advice, I'm old and traveling by myself.

If both tickets are on the same reservation and your bags are tagged through to your final destination, then you can re-check your bags in the International Terminal, otherwise you will have to take them with you to Terminal 5 to re-check them with Delta. You should have enough time.

I am flying in on Qantas and out on Delta. My luggage will not be checked through. Would I still be able to use the international desk? Or will I have to drag it with me from the International Terminal to Delta, and check it in there? And again, will I have enough time to do all this?

If your baggage is not checked through you have to take it from the International Terminal to Terminal 5 to check it at the Delta check-in counter. Yes, you should have enough time.

  • Is 2hrs 15mins enough for a Delta connection
    Jan 6, 2016
Hi! I am departing Brisbane on Delta Air lines flight DL6795 and landing in LAX at 06:30 before catching another Delta Airlines flight to JFK that leaves at 08:45. Will 2hrs and 15mins be enough time to make this connecting flight?

Also, it says on my itinerary that the flight landing in LAX lands at the Tom Bradley terminal, will this change anything?

And to add to that, it says it's operated by Virgin Australia so now I'm a littler worried

That should be enough time. You will arrive in the International Terminal, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go outside and walk to Terminal 5 and go through security.

  • the minimum connecting time
    Jan 5, 2016
My flight from Sydney via Delta arrives at LAX at 6:10am. My flight to MSN via United departs at 8:10am. Is this enough time to go through customs and likely switch terminals? I travel with a carry on size luggage and hopefully would not need to check any bags.

Without checked bags I think you can make it, especially if you check in for your United flight online before you leave Australia.

If I'm flying delta internationally do you know if it still lands in the international terminal? or if it lands in terminal 5 where delta is according to the airport map?

Yes, it arrives in the International Terminal because the immigration facility in Terminal 5 is not open that early in the morning.

  • International Connection
    Jan 5, 2016
I'm going to be arriving into LAX on a Qantas flight from Sydney arriving at 2:15pm on a Tuesday afternoon. My next flight is from LAX to Mexico City on Delta (operated by AeroMexico) at 5:45pm. Will this give me enough time to clear immigration and check in for my next flight?

Yes, that should be enough time. Since your flight is operated by Aeromexico it will depart from Terminal 2.

  • connecting flight
    Jan 5, 2016
Arriving at Terminal 1 by southwest airlines at 9:40 pm and connecting to Tom Bradley int'l. flight leaves 11:40, is there a fastest way to get to TBI from Terminal 1, I have my baby with me so any easiest and most convenient way to connect is greatly appreciated. thanks

This is a very difficult connection if you have checked baggage as you will have to claim it from Southwest in T1 and bring it with you to the International Terminal. I recommend changing your flight to LAX to an earlier one.

I actually did changed my Southwest flight arriving at 4pm to LAX, what is the best way for me to get to TBI? the bus would a hassle because I have couple of luggage plus a 4yr old

You can actually walk along the upper or lower level curbfront between T1 and the International terminal

  • LAX domestic to Tom Bradly
    Jan 5, 2016
Arriving LAX from Seattle at 6:30pm need to get to Tom Bradley to board a 9pm flight to New Zealand. How do I get there in time without having to rush. I am not able to walk fast.

What airline are you flying to LAX on?

That should be enough time. It's not a long walk from T6 where you arrive to the International Terminal where you depart.

  • Wheelchair passenger
    Jan 5, 2016
Flying United from PHX to LAX with a wheelchair passenger. Then taking United LAX to Montreal with 1H55m in between. Will i have enough time to connect? What is the best way to proceed with a wheelchair passenger? thanks.

United does not fly from LAX to Montreal. Please double check your itinerary. Does it say "Operated by Air Canada" for that part? If so you will be transported from Terminal 7 to Terminal 2 where you depart. You should have enough time.

Thank you for your answer...and you are correct - it is operated by AC for the MTL leg of the trip. Going from T7 to T2...will this require us going thru security again? Should we walk this or take the shuttle? Can anything be done for handicapped people and their party?

You can request wheelchair service by calling United and they will take you to Terminal 2 - they may take you inside security using a van. They will take you whatever way is fastest.

  • AA1092 to AA73
    Jan 4, 2016
Hi, we have a connection in LAX from AA1092 arriving from Dallas at 8:15pm to AA73 departing for Sydney 9:50pm. This will all be on the same booking. I believe we should arrive and depart from Terminal 4, but can you tell me whether we will have to collect and re-check bags or clear immigration at LAX? Do we think there will be sufficient time for this connection?

There is no US Immigration when leaving the US. All you have to do in LAX on your way to Australia is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have plenty of time.

  • LAX changing terminals
    Jan 4, 2016
Arriving international at T3 and departing T6. Do we have enough time (Two and a half hours) to go thru passport, collect bags, customs and back into T6

No International flights arrive in Terminal 3. What airlines are you flying and where are you flying from and to?

My mistake about T3. We are Arriving American at Tom Bradley International at 1455 hrs and leaving on American at 8:15 T6. We have global passes to expedite passport and customs line

American does not the International Terminal. Where are you flying from?

Arriving from London and flight itinerary shows the TB Intl Terminal? Thanks for your assistance

Does the flight also say "Operated by British Airways" next to it? If so then it's correct and it arrives in the International Terminal. Anyway, 2.5 hours should be enough time for your connection.

Itinerary does not refer to British Air, but it does say arrival at Intl Terminal -- We are flying out of LAX to London earlier in the month on American air, and that departure is from Terminal 4

If the flight is indeed operated by American it will arrive in Terminal 4.

  • Coming home from Panama
    Jan 3, 2015
Hi, We will be arriving from Panama City, PA on Wednesday July 27 at 5:15 pm on United and am wondering if we will have enough time to make a Southwest flight at 7:30 pm? Is it just enough time with no room for any hiccups? There is a southwest flight at 9:30 pm that we could book just to guarantee we will be good but if we don't have to hang out in the airport for an extra 2 hours after a long day of traveling that would be great! Thank you for your advice!

United doesn't fly from Panama City to Los Angeles. If that flight is nonstop it will be operated by COPA. I think you could make the 7:30 flight.

  • Frankfurt - LAX -> Las Vegas
    Jan 3, 2015
Landing in LAX with Lufthansa flight from Frankfurt Wednesday Jan 6th at 12.50 PM and have a connecting Virgin America flight at 1.40 PM to Las Vegas. First part of my question is wether I will be allowed to take a connecting flight before immigration? Did not think of this before now. Second part of my question is whether I have enough time to travel between the respective gates. I arrive at the international terminal and Virgin America departs from terminal 3. Thanks!

That connection is completely impossible. You need a later flight to Las Vegas. You have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US customs, re-check your bags, and go through security in LAX.

  • Connecting Flight
    Jan 4, 2016
We land at LAX via domestic flight at 9pm on a Friday night (Easter weekend). We have 1 hour 5 minutes to get from our Delta flight to Air France. Will be have enough time? How long will it take to get to the international terminal?

That should be barely enough time. Getting to the international terminal only takes 5-10 minutes but you will have to go through security when you get there.

    Thank you

  • Flying into LAX with United then flying Air New Zealand
    Jan 2, 2015
My daughter is flying into LAX on United from Houston(originating in Tulsa) and then flying Air New Zealand. Will she have to recheck her bags? Will a 2 hour layover be enough time?

If both tickets are on the same reservation then she won't have to do anything with her bags in LAX. Just go from T7 to the International Terminal and through security. She should have enough time.

    Thank You.

  • Terminal 4 to 6 in 1 hour and 15 minutes
    Jan 2, 2015
Flying on American to terminal 4 and out on Alaska in Terminal 6. Is 1 hour and 15 minutes enough time to make the connection? I assume yes via the tunnels. Still yes if the tunnels are unavailable for some reason? Thanks!

Yes that is enough time as long as the first flight is domestic. I see no reason the tunnels wouldn't be open.

  • connect delta to virgin australia
    Jan 2, 2015
Hi, My itinerary is VA 6519 operated by Delta from JFK to LAX arriving at 7.25PM then connecting onto VA 8 to BNE departing 11.05PM. My question is: 1) is there enough time? I think my bags will be checked in at JFK but I assume I will have to go through security/TSA rubbish again at LAX because Delta arrives at Terminal 5 and apparently virgin australia departs from Terminal 3 (is that an international terminal) 2) WIll I have to go through security again? 3) Will I need to collect my bags and recheck them + collect boarding passes at LAX? Id guess not but I dont know. 4) Anything to be wary of making this connection? Thanks. Goat.

Your Virgin Australia flight will actually depart from the international terminal, their check in desk is just in terminal 3. You will have to go through security in the International terminal. You don't have to do anything with your bags. You have plenty of time.

Thanks Zap. Your help is much appreciated. Hope you have a smashing 2016
