  • Philadelphia to Melbourne through LAX with 1 hr 50 min connection
    Sep 28, 2016
I wanted to make sure I have enough time to connect. I booked flight from Philadelphia to Melbourne, AU via American. I will arrive at LAX on AA 717 at 9:05 PM and have to go to Int'l terminal to catch Qantas flight at 10:50 PM. Travelling with my two daughters 10 and 12. I am hoping I do not need to retrieve and recheck luggage. I would think this amount of time is doable on a Wednesday night. Should I be worried? Can I walk to Int'l terminal from I believe terminal 6?

Yes, you can now walk inside security from the AA gates in Terminals 4 and 6 to the International Terminal. You have enough time and don't have to do anything with your checked baggage on the way to Australia.

I have 2 different reservation with AA: flight from SFO to LAX by America Airlines, the other Qantas flight which redeem AA miles. Will America Airlines print my boarding pass at SFO?

If you show your Qantas resevation to the agent in SFO they should be able to check your bags through to Melbourne but they are not required to. If they do not then it will make your transfer much more difficult. They will not be able to issue your boarding pass. Try to get it online. if you can't you'll have to try to get it at the check in counter in LAX (if your bags aren't checked through) or at the gate (if they are checked through).

Sorry, that response was for Hoang who hijacked your question. Hoang, you didn't post the times of your flights so I don't know if you have enough time, but no, AA will not issue a Qantas boarding pass on a separate reservation.

I have about 2 hours. I am sorry may be I did not tell you clearly. I booked both flight with American Airlines and have both America locator numbers, except the second reservation the flight is Qantas since they are partner and redeem the points. AA still can not print my boarding pass or check my luggage to final destination?

  • Delta to Virgin-Atlantic
    Sep 26, 2016
Flying from SMF to LAX to LHR! Booked thru Delta, but flying out of LAX on Virgin-Atlantic. Will we have to collect out bags? How long will it take us to from terminal 5 to terminal 2?

If everything is on the same reservation then you don't have to do anything with your bags. I'd want at least 90 minutes to change terminals and go through security again.

  • Attiving rom Panama on COPA with 3 hoirs for connection to Skywest
    Sep 26, 2016
I will be arrive at noon from Panama on Copa Airlines and have 3 hours to make a connection with SkyWest. Is that sufficient time. Also I believe COPA arrives at terminal 6. Is the Immigration, baggage pickup and Customs services conducted in that Terminal or -do we go to the International Terminal for that. (on Foot or by bus).. I am ticketed on one reservation. Where do I deposit the baggage for the connecting flight with SkyWest. How do I get to the SkyWest terminal and how long will that take by walking or/and by airport shuttle.

What airline is your Skywest flight booked through? Skywest operates flights for 4 different airlines from LAX. Yes, all your immigration procedures will take place in Terminal 6. Is your Skywest flight United Express, Delta Connection, American Eagle, or Alaska Airlines?

The reservation says operated by SkyWest DBA United Express. Thanky you for your prompt reply.

Then you will depart from Terminal 7/8, which is right next to 6.

    Thanmks for the information

  • Change to another terminal?
    Sep 26, 2016
I don't fly often but I am coming from Sacramento and flying to LAX, then from LAX to Cabo San Lucas, MX. I am flying from American Airlines all the way. Once I land in LA, do I need to go to the international terminal...meaning grab my bags, etc. and restart the whole checking in process or am I ok within my terminal since I am already in the American Airline area? It says I have 51 minutes layover? Is that enough time? Help!

No, all you have to in LAX on your way to Cabo is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. 51 minutes is enough time. There is no US Customs when leaving the US.

  • International flight
    Sep 26, 2016
I will be flying from Abu Dhabi to LAX and catching a connecting flight to SLC. This will be my first time flying back into the US. Do I need to recheck my baggage and how will I know where to go? I will have my toddler with me and want to know what I'm doing so it all goes smooth.

You will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Abu Dhabi. What airline are you flying to SLC and are your tickets all on one reservation or two separate reservations?

  • Terminal B to 6 (2 hrs)
    Sep 23, 2016
I am arriving by Cathay Pacific flight from HKG to LUX terminal 6. After that I need ti catch Cathay Pacific flight to LAS from terminal 6. Both flights are on same ticket, and I have 2 hour in-between these flights. My query is that good enough to move from terminal B to 6, and do I need to do immigration at LUX. Also, do I need to collect my check-in luggage (for customs) and again to do the check-in at terminal 6. Although Airline mentioned that 1.5 hrs is required, I want to understand the process so as not to miss my flight to LAS.

I mean LAX instead of LUX

Your flight to LAS will not be on Cathay Pacific, it will be on American. In LAX you will arrive in the International Terminal, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, walk to Terminal 4 or 6 where your AA flight departs, and go through security. You have just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

  • Conexion AA in a sunday
    Sep 22, 2016
I am arriving into LAX at 9:03 TBI gate 151. I have no check in luggage, and I a have a connecting in the Terminal 4 gate 41. all the flights with AA. I have 2 hours 12 minutes between flights. Is 2 hours going to be enough to clear customs and move to another terminal? thanks

Yes, that should be just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

  • Delta to Vegas from Terminal1
    Sep 20, 2016
I am arriving into LAX at 2:35pm on 22nd (Eitihad Terminal5). I have no check in luggage, and I have a connecting to Las Vegas (Delta) from Terminal1. It is on a seperate reservation. Delta departs at 5:40p. I have 3hours 5 minutes. Is 3hours going to be enough to clear immigration, customs, move to another terminal, clear TSA security? What can I do to accelerate the process, if I am getting delay? This is my first time in USA, would be it be wise to request someone in the queue to allow me ahead of them if I think I am getting delayed? Would americans take offense from something like that?

Etihad does not use Terminal 5 and Delta does not use Terminal 1. You will arrive in the International Terminal. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Abu Dhabi, so you will be led to a special baggage claim, claim your bags, then take them to Terminal 5 to re-check them with Delta, then go through security and to your departure gate. You should have enough time if your Etihad flight is on-time.

Sorry, my bad. You are correct. Delta is from Terminal 5. I would be arriving in the International Terminal. Why do you say that I will be pre cleared in Abu Dhabi for Immigration? My Delta flight is to Las Vegas, it is not on the same ticket as the one till LAX. So, are you saying that even if I am on two different tickets, I don't have to clear immigration and clear security at Terminal 5?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Abu Dhabi because they have US Immigration and Customs preclearance there. That means that you won't when you arrive in LAX. You will still have to go through security in Terminal 5 after you re-check your bags with Delta.

  • 3 hours connection
    Sep 19, 2016
Hi! I will arrive from TLV with ElAl at 6:30am and will have 3 hours connection, before flying to PDX with Delta. These are two separate reservations. Will I have enough time to collect baggage, go through custom, move to different terminal, etc? Other option is to take a later flight, but it will be 6 hours connection. Which flight would you take? Thanks!

That is just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

  • Delta to Air Tahiti
    Sep 19, 2016
We will arrive into LAX on Delta at 20:50 and have a flight on Air Tahiti at 22:40. Any way to make it with checked bags if ticketed separately or should we do carry ons?

I highly suggest only doing carry-ons, the Air Tahiti Nui check-in desk will close at about 21:10, leaving you only 20 minutes to get off the plane, claim your bags, and get them to the International Terminal, assuming your Delta flight is on-time.

  • American Airlines to Air china
    Sep 19, 2016
We have separate tickets from mia to lax 9:14 to air china 11:30. Do you think we will have enough time. My seats are right next to the exit so i will get out fast in the american airlines.

With checked bags that will be difficult but not impossible. With no checked bags you should be OK.

  • 3 hour layover Southwest to TBIT
    Sep 19, 2016
Hi! I will be arriving at Terminal 1 at 830pm for an 1130pm flight to Incheon on Korean Air. Is 3 hours enough time to make the connection, security, immigration, etc?

That's just enough time if everything goes smoothly. You just claim your bags from Southwest in T1, take them to the TBIT, check them with Korean, and go through security. There is no US Immigration when leaving the US.

  • American connect to air nz
    Sep 18, 2016
We are travelling PHX to LAX on American and then to Auckland on Air NZ.We assume American will use Terminal 4 and Air NZ TBIT. Will we need to collect and relodge luggage at LAX? I assume we can walk between terminals?

You will likely actually arrive in Terminal 6. If you purchased two separate reservations, yes, you will have to claim your bags from AA and re-check them with Air New Zealand in the TBIT. Yes, you can walk between terminals outside security along the curbfront.

  • Customs
    Sep 18, 2016
Hi flying Delta Sydney to Calgary with Lax as transit. Is 2 hours layover enough to connect westjet-code shared delta ticket. Any info on customs baggage and security

You will arrive in Terminal 5 or 6 or the International Terminal, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go to Terminal 2 and through security. You have barely enough time if everything goes perfectly.
