  • Flying Mont > Aust via LAX stopover, will I need to recheck bags?

Hi, I am flying Montreal to LAX (Air Canada) and have a 12 hour stopover and am then flying Qantas to Brisbane, Australia. Will I need to collect bags at LAX and then recheck them?

If your tickets were purchased on two separate reservations then you will need to claim them in LAX and re-check them with Qantas in the International Terminal. If they are on one reservation then they will be transferred to Qantas.

Thanks. I booked them on SkyScanner in one transaction so I guess that means they'll be transferred

How much time do I need to go from Terminal 8 to Terminal 2 in LAX airport? I have 1 hour and 10 minutes to connect? Walk or airport shuttle? Thanks in advance for your help.!

I would walk. You have enough time if your bags are checked through to your second flight or if you don't have checked bags. You will have to go through security again in Terminal 2. The walk takes about 15 minutes. The fastest route is to go straight across the parking garages from 7/8 to 2.

I'm travelling with children from Brisbane to Lax in October on QF15 arriving at 6am. I'm looking at booking a flight to Orlando - there is one on VAmerica at 8:55am or a delta flight at 9:50am. Will this be enough time to clear customs, collect baggage and then get to terminal and check baggage in? Thanks

    Yes, either flight would work.

    Ok great! Thank u!

I am flying with American to LAX and connect with Quantas to Brisbane on one ticket. Will I have to physically leave the building to go to LAX International Departures Will my luggage be checked through?

Oh, meant to include that I'm coming from Toronto, pre-clearing US customs!

Your baggage will be automatically transferred but you will have to leave Terminal 4 where you arrive and walk nextdoor to the International Terminal and go through security.

I am flying from Seattle to LAX on Alaska Airline and then from LAX I will be flying Qantas back to Melbourne. Since they are all OneWorld partner I was wondering if it is possible for luggage to be checked all the way through?

If all tickets are on the same reservation then your bags will be tagged through to MEL.

Unfortunately the flights are not on the same reservation so I guess I will have to pick up my luggage at LAX?

Yes, in that case you will.

I know that when I exit Tom Bradley I need to turn left to get to terminal 2. Are there stairs/escalators to access the higher departure levels at T2.

Yes, along the T2 and T3 curbfront there are numerous escalators between the arrival and departure levels.

  • International flight to LAX connection flight to NYC

I am flying from Brisbane, AUS to LAX on the 12/1/16 and I arrive at 6:30am. I then have a connecting flight to JFK with Delta airlines at 8:30. Firstly, how do I get to the international terminal to the domestic terminal and will my bags to directed straight to my connecting flight without me having to collect them? Will I have enough to get to the different terminals? Lastly, What if my international flight is delayed?

You will arrive, go through US Immigration, claim your baggage, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then walk to Terminal 5 (two buildings down from the International Terminal), then go through security. You should have enough time. If your flight is delayed you will be rebooked on the next available Delta flight to JFK. Since you are arriving in the morning you have a whole day to be rebooked so you don't have to worry about getting stuck.

  • Transfer time from Bradley to united airlines for Las Vegas flight

Arriving at LAX from London at Sun 7 Feb1855. Agent has booked us on United Airlines 2232 to Las Vegas. We will have bags to check in. On the way back on Sun 14 Feb we have been booked on American Airlines at 1630 to arrive at 1742. Our flight to New Zealand leaves at 2145. We will have same bags. Have we enough time to catch each flight?

Both connection times sound sufficient if everything is on the same reservation.

I am flying into LAX arriving at Tom Bradley at 2050 and then onto Miami at 0035 (almost 4 hours later) from LAX Terminal 4. Do I need to go through security and if so, would I have time to meet a friend briefly at Terminal 4?

Yes. you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk. At that point you will be outside security and can meet your friend.

Do you think I will have time to get from terminal 1 to terminal 5. My flight arrives at 6:30 and and the connection leaves at 7:25 on Tuesday morning.

Will you have checked bags? If so I don't think that's enough time. What airlines are you flying?

No checked bags. Only carry ons. Southwest and Delta

Then if the flight is on-time, you are already checked in for your Delta flight, and you run, you might be able to make it.

Hi, My son and three friends are looking at flights and the return part of the journey may be DFW-LAX-LHR there is a stopover of 1.56 at LAX, none of them are particularly seasoned travellers (never done a major international) would the 1.56 be enough time to do transfers between terminals and clear security. All stages are with American Airlines or their partners. Many thanks.

Yes, 1 hr 56 minutes would be enough time. If they are flying in on AA and out on BA they just have to go from T4 next door to the International Terminal and through security.

  • Connection to Toronto, CANADA

I am arriving LAX on Qantas at 6:35 am on a Saturday and want to book on a separate reservation to Toronto to arrive in Toronto as early as possible. How soon could I expect to book a flight having to go through immigration, collect baggage and find the right terminal.

I mean much time do I need to allow for clearing immigration, collect baggage, go through security in order to book the earliest flight possible to Toronto. I believe there is an American flight that leaves at 8:15 am - would I have enough time to make that flight.

The 8:15 flight wouldn't be possible. I wouldn't book anything before 9 AM, preferably 9:30.

We are arriving with Qantas from Sydney at 6.25 am and have a connecting flight to Mexico City with Areomexico departing 9015 am . Will this be enough time?

That should be just about enough time. You will arrive in the International Terminal and depart from Terminal 2.

Thanks. Hopefully we have no holdups through customs etc.

  • Domestic-International and vice versa

What is the general time I need to allow on both ends to make a domestic-international connextion at LAX? I am arriving on Southwest at 1.55pm and my Air New Zealand flight to London leaves at 4.55pm. I am arriving on Air New Zealand, from London at 7.35pm and my Southwest flight leaves at 9.50pm I'll be checking a bag and sitting at the back of the plane. Are both of these times doable?

Your connection on the way to London should be doable, but on the way back it will be pretty difficult. It's not impossible though, especially at that time of the evening when things get a bit quiet at LAX.

thank you so much for your reply. Do you think that paying for Global Entry would make a significant difference on the return flight from LHR-LAX (and continuing on domestically via Southwest)?

    Yes, global entry would help
