  • Can we make our connection?
    Jun 25, 2014
We are US citizens arriving LAX at 12:30 PM from Fiji on Friday Oct 31 2014. We Have a flight on Southwest which leaves at 3PM but we have to collect our bags and check back through with Southwest. do we have enough time to make this flight?

Yes, if your flight from Fiji is on-time you should be OK. You will have to bring your bags with you to T1 to check with Southwest. Also try to check-in for your southwest flight online before you leave Fiji.

  • Arriving and departing Terminal 2 but on different airlines
    Jun 25, 2014
Hi everyone, we arrive from Cancun to LAX Terminal 2 with Virgin America at 8.10pm. We then have another flight at 10.30pm with Air NZ to Australia also at Terminal 2. As these are not connecting flights as such (ie. different airlines and tickets booked seperately) we know we will have to clear customs and security first before checking in our bags again but are unsure where to go exactly for this. Is it true that there a check-in/security processing area above Terminal 2 for Air NZ?

Yes, that is the same terminal. However, you need to be checked in for your NZ flight 2 hours before the flight. I think it will be very difficult for you to be out of customs and to the ANZ check-in counter by 8:30.

Thanks for your reply. We have already spoken with somebody regarding the tight time schedule and we will certainly be cutting it very fine but hoping to be ok. Do you know if it is correct that we are to go to the ANZ check-in/security processing directly upstairs above terminal 2?

It's not really "above" Terminal 2, it's on the departure level of Terminal 2, above where you will come out from customs.

  • terminal 8 to tbit
    Jun 24, 2014
flying from Vancouver with air Canada arriving at terminal 8, then need to get to TBIT for a connecting flight to Fiji with Fiji airways air pacific . what is the easiest way to get from terminal 8 to TBIT, and will I have to re check baggage and go threw security and customs once arriving in LAx , all flights were purchased togeather thanks

Air Canada does not use Terminal 8. Air Canada uses Terminal 2. Terminal 8 is used by United and United Express. The easiest way to get from either T8 or T2 to the TBIT is to walk along the curbfront. Air Canada and Air Pacific do have an interline baggage agreement, so your baggage will be transferred. You will pre-clear US Immigration in Vancouver. In LAX you will have to go to the TBIT, get your Fiji Airways boarding pass, and go through security.

United and Fiji AIrways also have an interline agreement in case your YVR-LAX flight is operated by United/United Express.

thanks for the info, the booking confirmation says my flight number is air Canada but is operated by united airways and says terminal 8 so im not sure. im just assuming I will arrive at terminal 8. would it be quicker to walk from either Terminal to tbit or catch the transfer bus

Yes, if it's operated by United then you will check-in with United in Vancouver and arrive in Terminal 8. It's usually fastest to walk unless you're a very slow walker as curbfront vehicle traffic at LAX is horrible, meaning the bus moves very slowly.

thanks, my layover time at lax is 2 hours 17 mins, hopefully that is enough time to get from T8 to tbit and threw security get to my gate

  • walking between terminals

I need to get from T2 to T7. Can I walk along West Way or East Way or through Parking buildings 1 & 9. Are these routes faster than walking around the terminal?

  • LAX to SMF
    Jun 18, 2014
Hi, I am traveling with a 1 yr. old baby arriving in LAX at 14:10 via Etihad and catching another flight to SMF via American Airlines at 16:50. Will 2.5 hours enough for us to get into our connecting flight? Pls. advise. Thanks.

  • Can I make T3 Arriving 10:30pm Leaving TBIT 11:30pm?
    Jun 16, 2014
I'm a Canadian and have an hour to get from a flight from Detroit on Spirit (Terminal T3) to a flight on Korean Air to Seoul (TBIT Terminal). Can I make it? What if I don't have any checked luggage? How long does it usually take to get through security at TBIT?

  • LAX SW to Delta connection
    Jun 14, 2014
Arrive SW T1 at noon depart Delta T5 2:20. Checked bags and two kids. So about two hours to retrieve bags, change terminals, check bags, and get thru security. Are we crazy?

  • Enuf time to get from T4 Arriving 6:05 AM Leaving 7:35 AM T 1
    Jun 20, 2014
Is there enough time to get from Term 4 Arriving 6:05 AM Leaving 7:35 AM Term 1. Thx very much.

You do not arrive at the "S Terminal". You will arrive at one of the numerous domestic concourses. To get to an international flight you just have to take the Plane Train, which runs inside security, from your arrival concourse to your departure concourse. 58 mins should be plenty of time if your first flight is on-time.

  • Is 90 minutes enough to connect
    Jun 10, 2014
Im wondering if I have enough time to connect with my flight from LAX to Las Vegas. We are coming in from Puerto Vallarta to LAX and have 90 minutes to clear customs, etc. Both flights are Delta.

  • Customs/Immigration
    Jun 6, 2014
Any idea how busy customs/immigration are at TBIT around 6:30am, I will be arriving there July 11 and have a connecting flight at T5 approx 3 hrs later

Do I have enough time if I am coming from Cancun on Volaris and landing at 9.54pm to make it to my flight from LAX to Australia on QANTAS taking off at 11.50pm?

Is your arrival domestic or international. If international it will be really tough as you probably won't make it to T1 in time for Southwest's bag cutoff.

Thx very much. No checked luggage. Should have mentioned: Coming into LAX from Kona on American at 6:05 AM (T4) and going on to Southwest flight to DEN at 7:35 AM (T1). If I get off plane by 6:30 and need to be at Southwest gate at 7:00 is there enough time to walk through terminals, not parking garages?

I'd walk through the parking garages.

  • domestic to international connection
    Jun 11, 2014
Hi I am arriving on United Express from ABQ at 342pm, I depart on Delta at 638pm for Tokyo, is that enough time to connect... my travel agent is saying it's not a legal connection...

You could take a train to Termini and spend maybe an hour or 2 there before you would have to come back.

  • Tranfer time between T6 and TBIT
    Jun 10, 2014
Arriving at T6 from Anchorage at 10.15pm 15/8. Connecting to a China Airlines flight that departs at 01.55 on 16/8 from TBIT. Will I have enough time to make this transfer and flight? These are separate flights so I have to pick up my bags at T6 and get them checked in again at TBIT. Thanks.

If you bought your tickets together they will be transferred automatically to China Eastern and checked through to MNL and you won't have to claim and re-check them in YVR.

Thank you so much for the info.

  • Arriving Skywest and departing Air Canada
    Jun 3, 2014
I will have 1 hr 45 min to make a connection in LAX.. I don't think there is anyway of doing this inside a secure area. Means exiting the building and then shuttle, walk (what do people recommend) and going through security again. to get to Air Canada in terminal 2. What is your suggestions for a smooth transition? This will be about 7 a.m.

  • 1 hour connection time with United
    Jul 22, 2014
I will be flying into LAX from Denver on a United Airlines flight, then onwards to Narita on a United Airlines flight also. The connection time is 1 hour and 1 minute only. Would that be enough time to make it to the next flight? I believe the terminal for the incoming and outgoing flights are both in terminal 7. Thanks.

If you're in the same terminal, that should be OK. You'll do int'l check-in in Denver, and then just have to deplane and head to the other gate. If it's another terminal, it'll be tough. Are you sure you aren't heading out from TBIT?
