  • Delta Flight From Sydney Connecting Southwest Flight to Tucson
    Dec 4, 2015
    1
I am arriving at Terminal 5 at 6:10am on a Delta flight from Sydney. Purchased connecting flight separately on Southwest airlines from Terminal 1 at 8:35am foolishly as a friend told us we would have plenty of time to make the connection. Will be 4 travelers in all with luggage that we will have to pick up and recheck.. Please any advice on how to make this connection will be greatly appreciated!!! I just dont see how we will clear customs and immigration in time!!!

It's possible. It doesn't leave you a lot of time to spare but you should be the only flight arriving at that time. If you hustle to Terminal 1 you can make it.

  • Connecting from South West or American to New Zealand Air

I have a round trip reservation on New Zealand Air. I need to make my own reservation on probably American or South West to connect the New Zealand. I will have to check in and re check my luggage. How far are these terminals from each other. I will need to allow plenty of time. Thank you.

American's terminal 4 is right next to the International Terminal that Air New Zealand uses. Southwest's Terminal 1 is about a 10 minute walk. You will need about 2.5 hours each way.

I will be arriving at 630 Am from Sydney Australia via United will I have enough time to go thru customs recheck my bag and get to the next United Terminal for an 8AM flight to Newark

That should be enough time. You will arrive in the International Terminal (United flights from Australia arrive there because the immigration facility in Terminal 7 isn't open that early), go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then follow the signs for connecting passengers and re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then exit the International Terminal, walk to your right (with the flow of vehicle traffic) for about 5-10 minutes until you get to Terminal 7, then go inside, go through security and to your departure gate.

I will be arriving LAX 630 Am from Sydney Australia and connecting to a flight to Newark at 8 AM Will I have enough time to go thru customs, recheck my bag and get to the proper gate

What airlines are you flying? Were your tickets purchased on the same reservation or separate? I can't answer this without that information.

  • Connection of two ours - Terminal 4

I'm arriving to LAX from London with British airways at 6:40pm (Terminal 4). Then I continue with American Airlines to San Jose CA. My flight is at 8:45pm. I need to recheck my luggage. Is it enough time?

If your flight from London is actually operated by British Airways it will arrive in the International Terminal, not Terminal 4.

Also, that should be just about enough time. if your bags are tagged through to SJC you can re-check them at the re-check desk in the International Terminal, but if they are only tagged to LAX you will have to bring them with you to Terminal 4 to re-check.

UWill I have enough time arriving LAX via southwest at 8:25 am to Alaska air to ZIH at 10:00am. On the return flight arrive LAX 6:15 pm leave on southwest 8:55pm

Yes, that should be sufficient time for your connections. However, note that if your Southwest flight is late on your way to LAX from ABQ it doesn't leave you much time to spare. Also note that you will have to transfer any checked bags yourself between Terminal 1 and Terminal 6 and vise-versa.

I arrive in LAX international at 715am, will I have enough to clear customs and check in for my domestic flight to Orlando at 9am? It is a separate booking, different airline.

What airlines are you flying? I can't answer your question without that info.

  • Terminal 2 to Terminal B

Hi - I am arriving into LAX at 6:35pm in terminal 2 (avianca) and i have a flight to Sydney with Qantas in terminal B at 10:30pm. Is this enough time? I have booked on separate tickets and will have checked bags,

That should be enough time. After you clear customs in Terminal 2 just take your bags with you to the International Terminal to re-check them. It's usually faster to walk than take the shuttle, but you should have enough time to do either.

  • Getting from 1 airline terminal to another

We are flying into Lax via southwest arrive at 7:50 Next flight leaves Alaskan at 9:50 what do we do? Also on return get in at 6:10 and leave via southwest at 9:30

You will arrive in Terminal 1, claim your checked baggage if you have checked bags, walk straight across the parking garages to Terminal 6, re-check your bags, get your Alaska boarding passes if you don't already have them, and then go through security. On the reverse you simply do the reverse. You should have enough time.

  • New Zealand to LAX then to Detroit

I have a flight on Air New Zealand arriving at 2:10pm on Saturday Feb. 27. If I get an American Flight leaving at 4:20 pm, think I will make it? I can't book them through.

That would be barely enough time assuming everything goes smoothly.

I am flying in to lax at Terminal 5 and at 12:10 pm, and have a connecting flight out of terminal 2 at 1 pm. can I make that? Do I have to go back thru security?

Will you have checked bags? Were your tickets purchased on one reservation or separate? I assume you're flying Delta into Terminal 5 - what airline are you flying out of Terminal 2? I need this info to answer your question. You will have to go through security.

i booked both trips separately. I fly in on Delta and out on Sun Country

With checked bags this is completely impossible. Without checked bags it's barely possible if you check in online for your Sun Country flight, your Delta flight is on-time, and you run to Terminal 2.

Flying in from Sydney on New Zealand Air in February at 2:10 pm (Tom Brady terminal). Fly out of Terminal 1 on Southwest at 4:10 pm. Will this work? Thanks!

It's possible, but you'll have to hope your flight from Sydney is on-time and the lines at immigration are short and then hurry to Terminal 1. I suggest walking to Terminal 1 rather than trying to take the shuttle.

  • YVR - LAX - HNL

We're arriving at LAX on Air Canada Rouge from YVR and transferring to United for our LAX - HNL leg of the trip. We arrive at 11:35 and leave at 13:00. We will clear customs in YVR and the tickets were booked together. Will we have enough time and what terminals are we going to be going through?

You will arrive in Terminal 2 and depart from Terminal 7. You can walk straight across the parking garages to get between the two terminals. You just have to go through security in Terminal 7. You should have enough time.

Thanks for the quick reply. Will we need to gather our checked luggage or will those be sent through automatically?

Yes, your bags will be transferred automatically.

  • Terminal 8 to Tom Bradley / Customs?
    Dec 1, 2015

We are arriving in LAX from Vancouver, BC on United landing at Terminal 8. Then need to get to Tom Bradley terminal to fly with Air Tahiti Nui to Tahiti. Separate reservations. Do we need to claim our bags & go through customs? And what's the best way to get to Tom Bradley terminal? Is signage good? Who can you ask for guidance?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Vancouver. At LAX you will claim your bags from United and take them to the International Terminal to check with Air Tahiti Nui. You will make a left when you exit Terminal 7 (where the United baggage claim is) and then walk for about 10 minutes (against the flow of vehicle traffic). The fourth building you come to will be the International Terminal, it's fairly obvious. Last time I was there the Air Tahiti Nui check-in counters were in the back left of the check-in area of the International Terminal. You will go through security after you check-in.

Flying from Tokyo to LAX with 1 hr 10 min connection to JFK, is that enough time to get through customs, immigration, etc.?

No, you need at least 90 minutes if all tickets are on the same reservation and 2.5 hours if you have two separate reservations. You need to contact your airline or travel agent and be rebooked.

Thank you for your help!! Delta shouldn't even offer this flight combination if flyers can't make it.
