Flying into LAX on Delta from MSP and need to connect to Singapore Airlines to Asia. Any tips? Is it a hassle getting to the international terminal? Do I need to go through security again?
Yes, you will have to claim your bags in Terminal 5 where you arrive, carry them to the international terminal, re-check them with Singapore, and go through security. It's not a far walk.
740pm Seattle Alaska Airlines to LAX @1020pm Then 155am LAX American Airlines to Hong Kong. Do I have to recheck my check in luggage and security TSA again in Terminal 3? Do I have enough time? Thanks
You will not use Terminal 3. You will arrive in Terminal 6 and depart from terminal 4. If both flights are on the same reservation then all you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate in LAX.
Returning on Fiji Airways to T4.
Fiji Airways does not use T4
Returning to LAX an Fiji Airways T2 at 1:25pm and need to clear customs and get to Southwest flight departing 2:30pm from T1. Any chance I could make that connection?
Fiji Airways arrives in the International Terminal. That is a completely impossible connection. You need to change your Southwest flight to give you at least 3 hours.
I am flying from Mazatlan to LAX on Alaskan Airlines arriving at LAX at 17:34 and departing to Calgary on United Airlines at 19:50 will I have enough time? Will I need to go through customs? I know I need to get our luggage and book in with United Airlines then pass through security. I'm hoping this will be enough time.
Yes, you will arrive in Terminal 6, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags with Air Canada in Terminal 2 (United does not fly from LAX to Calgary, if you are flying nonstop to Calgary, you are on an Air Canada flight that leaves from Terminal 2) and go through security. You have barely enough time if everything goes perfectly.
Thanks for your reply. We've decided to take carry on only and hopefully we will have enough time.
I'm flying from SYD Australia and have a 3hr30min layover in LAX. Is this enough time to go through customs/immigrations and switch from international terminal to domestic terminal?? I'm very nervous. Never travelled international before.
What airlines are you flying? That should be enough time.
We arrive AA commuter terminal ABA-LAX, then depart LAX-AKL (assume T-4)... we have a 1+34 minutes between flights, is that too close for xfer? Next option is a 10 hour layover... thx
MEVJ, ABA is Abakan, Russia. Where are you coming from? That is enough time. The shuttle will take you right to T4.
I have booked a 1:55pm flight from LAX-AMS. I will be flying in from Oakland that morning on a different reservation. How much time do i need for my layover in LAX to ensure i make my international flight? no checked bags or kids.
I assume you are flying KLM to Amsterdam. What airline are you flying to LAX?
Hi Zap! Yes, KLM to AMS, likely Southwest to Lax.
I would want at least 2.5 hours.
Hi, I am due to arrive into LAX on a LATAM airlines flight at 6:55pm and on a seperate flight ticket would like to book the 10:30pm Qantas flight to Sydney. Will this be enough time to claim my baggage and go through customs, immigration etc. and re check in and clear security?
That is enough time if everything goes smoothly.
Arriving to LAX from SFO with United and have 40 min to departing flight to Vienna. Is that enough time?
Realistically, no, that is not enough time. You will have to go all the way from T7 or T8 where you arrive to the International Terminal. Even though they are now connected inside security, you have to go through Terminal 6, 5, and 4 to get there.
thanks for your reply. How long does it take to walk from T7 to international, do you know?
probably about 20 minutes.
My daughter is flying alone from Australia (Qantas) to Boston via LAX, on a through ticket. Wondering if she will have enough time to clear customs on entry to US and get to her domestic (American Airlines) flight with a connection time of two hours? On her return from JFK to Melbourne, she will be on Qantas ticketed flights both legs transiting through terminal B with one hour connection- this should be ok?
On her way to Boston in LAX she will go through US Immigration, claim her bags, go through US Customs, re-check her bags at the re-check desk, walk to Terminal 4 and go through security and to her departure gate. On the return to Melbourne, all she has to do in LAX is walk through the new connector building from Terminal 4 to the International Terminal and to her departure gate.
