  • United Connection TBIT to Terminal 7

Hi iFly, We are flying from Cancun to LAX to Melbourne with UA (same ticket) with a 2 hour connection. On arrival at TBIT we need to clear passport control, collect luggage and clear customs. After customs we have been advised we can bag drop our checked luggage at transfer desk. Our flight from LAX to Melbourne departs terminal 7. Are we best to proceed through the security screening checkpoint in the sterile connections area at TBIT and make our connection airside to terminal 7 via the walkay to terminal 4 and tunnels to terminal 7; or are we best to walk outside to Terminal 7 and do security screening again at terminal 7. Your advice is much appreciated.

You will arrive in T7 I believe. But other than that, yes, the procedure is correct and the same. The security line in T7 late in the evening is probably shorter than the one in the TBIT.

We arrive on an AA flight at 11:04 PM and have another AA connection at 11:50 in Sept. Not sure of gates but is this possible to connect and do we need to go through security or anything again?

Where are you flying from and to? I can't help you with the limited amount of information you have provided.

Coming from Kauai Island (LIH) and then to Chicago (ORD). Single ticket.

All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You do not have to go through security. All AA gates in LAX are connected inside security. You have enough time if the flight from Lihue is on-time.

    Thanks ZAP

Traveling from SLC to Hawaii on AA with checked bags on first class. How do I go from terminal 6 to 4 without security?

There is a tunnel that runs inside security. Also, your flight from SLC will likely arrive at the American Eagle remote terminal so you will have to take a bus from there.

I have 90 min of layover. Will it work with tunnel?

Yes, that should be enough time.

Hi we're landing at TBIT via Air Tahiti at 11am on a Thursday. I'm trying to book a flight from LAX back home, it will be a separate reservation (probably Delta) and I will have checked bags. Most of the available flights have a narrow window (1.5 - 2 hours). I have Global Entry, if everything goes very smooth how long does it take to make the transfer?

With Global Entry that would allow just enough time if the Air Tahiti Nui flight arrives on-time.

Im landing from Salt Lake City with Delta at 3.57. I should take an AeroMexico Connection at 5.45. Global Entry isnt working today... Can i make it?

Global Entry doesn't matter for that flight since Aeromexico doens't participate in Precheck and there is no US Customs when exiting the US. Yes, you can make that connection.

Also where would I pick up my bags if I'm getting to terminal 7?

The United baggage claim is on the lower level of Terminal 7. All domestic United flights use the same baggage claim area.

I'm arriving at LAX terminal 7 airplane united airlines. Can anyone tell me what gate I'll be going through?

United.com will have the exact gate the day of your flight. All United gates in Terminals 7 and 8 are connected inside security and have the same entrance and exit.

  • Cebu to LAX to Denver

I will be going from Cebu to LAX on Philippine Airlines flight on PR152 arriving at 1900 then have connecting flight on separate ticket at 2115 LAX to Denver flight AA5931. Will I have enough time to make my connection? US Citizen w/no checked baggage just a backpack.

With no checked bags I think you should have just enough time as long as the flight from Cebu is on-time (which it often is not).

Thanks, I'll keep my fingers and toes crossed.

My JL flight from NRT to LAX will arrive at TBIT ! Can I ask about the process of transfer from TBIT to T4. My next flight is AA to Dallas ! I have 2h15' to connect at LAX ! I am overseas student so please help for the first time to US ! :)

You will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, follow signs for connecting passengers, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go outside, walk to Terminal 4 (the next building oveer), get your AA boarding pass if you don't already have it, and go through security. You should have enough time.

where can I get the AA boarding pass in T4 ? Can you help me the way from TBIT to T4 ? I heard that there are the airside connector so can I use that way ?

  • FRA-LAX-HNL in 93 minutes?
    Jun 30, 2016

Hi everyone, Arriving on Lufthansa at 4.40pm from FRA in September. Then leaving on United to HNL at 6:15pm. Is it enough 93 minutes layover for migration, customs and change of Terminal from Tom Bradley to T-7? Do I need to drop-off again after clear customs my cheched and tagged luggage? if yes, where? at Terminal B or at T-7 ? Many thanks !

You will arrive in the TBIT, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, follow signs for connecting passengers, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then exit the TBIT and walk to your right. The fourth building you come to will be T7. Go inside and through security. You have just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

Thanks! I hope it works! Drop-off at Tom Bradley Terminal after clear customs. Great!! that's clear now. I will move fast on walk between terminals and I'll try to ask permit to avoid ques at migration lanes. On the other side, in case of a late arrival of the incoming flight (Lufthansa), does United rebook myself in the next following available flight, even taking care of my accomodation and meals if I'm rebooked the next following day? Thanks in adavance for your time.

They will rebook you but they probably won't get you a hotel. They may give you meal vouchers. There is also currently a 7:33 PM flight to Honolulu (I don't know if it operates into September, but it's a possibility they would be able to get you to HNL that night).

  • DEN->LAX->MEL

Hi, I arrive from DEN to LAX at 8:20PM, and depart LAX to MEL at 10:20PM. Will this be enough time to make the connection? Both flights are with United, on the same ticket. When I arrived (MEL->LAX, LAX->DEN), I had to go through security again at LAX. Will I have to do this on the way out too? Thanks

It looks like MEL->LAX arrived at the TBIT terminal, and LAX->DEN departed from T7, and there's no secure transit from TBIT to T7 so this is why I needed to go through security again. But from what I can tell, on my way out DEN->LAX arrives into T7 and LAX->MEL departs from T7, so I shouldn't have to go through security check again, and 2 hours should be plenty of transit time. Is this correct?

You actually had to go through security again on Arrival because you were arriving on an International flight - everyone who does that and has an onward connection does, even if it's in the same terminal. On your way to MEL all you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate in Terminal 7. You have enough time.

Travelling from Houston to LAX to catch a connecting flight to Vancouver. Have about 3.5 hour layover. No checked baggage. Carry on only. Do I have to go through security again after landing at LAX ?

And I am flying AA from IAH and again to YVR.

No, you do not have to go through security at LAX. All AA gates are connected inside security.

Hi we arrive at LAX at at 315 pm with Lufthansa and have a connection to Maui at 539 pm with United. All legs are under the same ticket and are in First Class. As Belgian citizens we are not eligible fro the GE program. We have checked bagage. Can we lake this connection? Is there a fast track for immigration if you fly First Class?

Yes, that should be just enough time if everything goes smoothly. There is no fast track for immigration for first class passengers, but you are eligible to use the kiosks like US and Canadian citizens if you have entered the US on ESTA previously.

Hello. My flight from Narita with ANA arriving at Bradley Terminal at 9:50am and departing at 12:45pm for Reagan National at Terminal 4 with AA. With checked baggage. Tickets not under same reservation. Is 2Hr 55Min enough time for everything? Thanks.

Yes, that is just enough time if everything goes perfectly. Check in for your AA flight online before you leave Japan. You will have to transfer your bags yourself to T4 to re-check them with AA if you have checked bags.

Thanks ZAP! "just enough time" meaning no extra time for coffee break... sigh
