  • Arrive Terminal 5 - connect to TBIT for flight 2 hrs later

Can I get from Terminal 5 to TBIT without leaving security for a connecting flight within 2 hrs?

Yes, you can. You just take the tunnel to T4 and then the walkway to the TBIT.

    Thank you!

Hello we fly in from Hawaii on Hawaiian to T2 at 11:55pm and have a connecting flight at T4 American leaving at 12:55am. Can we make that flight? Only carry on's. Do we have to go through security again?

You have to go through security again. I really don't recommend trying this connection.

    Thanks

  • Flying Alaska connecting to Cathay Pacific

I am flying Alaska airline from Portland connecting in lax on Cathay Pacific to Hong Kong with approx 1 hour & 50 min layover time. Will I need to re-check my bags since they are in 2 separate terminals?

Are your tickets on two separate reservations or one reservation?

  • connecting from EY to AA flight

Arriving on pre-cleared flight from AUH to connect to AA flight (on separate booking). If travelling with carry-on only, do I have to leave secure area in TBIT or can I use the connector to T4 (since EY flights pre-clear customs & immigration in AUH)? This assumes I'll be able to check-in online for AA flight.

Yes, since you will be precleared you can use the connector to T4. Even if you aren't able to check-in online for your AA flight you can use a kiosk inside security in T4 to get your boarding pass.

Great! Thank you for the info.

  • Alaska Air to Southwest

Flying in from Costa Rica tonight on Alaska Akins flight at 9:15. Our next flight is at 10:50 in Southwest terminal 1. Do we have a chance? Need to clear customs and then get moving!

Considering the late evening arrival, I think it's possible if you don't have checked bags. With checked bags, no I don't think it's possible.

  • Connecting flight, different airlines: Security?

Hi, I am flying into LAX on Alaska, then departing for Cancun on Virgin America. They both use Terminal 3 I believe. Will I need to go through security again at LAX? Thanks.

That is incorrect. Alaska currently uses Terminal 6. You will have to go through security in LAX unless they have more fully merged by the time of your trip and have added some sort of inside-security shuttle between the two airlines' gates.

Oh, woops-- thank you for getting me the correct information. So, let's say I flew to LAX on Virgin or another carrier that DOES use Terminal 3--then I wouldn't have to go back through security, right?

  • Hong Kong to San Diego thru LAX on Cathay Pacific

Arriving into LAX by CX898 and taking CX 7708 (operated by Compass Air) to San Diego...Connenction time is 3:15 mins...Is it good enough and where do I collect bags - LAX or SAN ?? Return from San Diego is AA6031 and onward to Hong Kong by CX885 with connnection time of 2 hrs 20 mins... Is it good enough... Do I need to collect my bags and checkin at LAX or it shall be a through check in to Hong kong

On the way to SAN in LAX you will arrive in the International Terminal, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go to your departure terminal, go through security and to your departure gate. On the return all you have to do is take the shuttle bus to Terminal 4 and then walk to your departure gate in the International Terminal, you don't have to do anything with your bags or go through security. You have enough time for both connections.

  • Connection Bradley T6

Booking Brisbane Aust to Kansas City Qantas 23rd June. After Customs and rechecking bags is it quicker to proceed back through security at TBIT and then go to T6 inside security, if that is possible.

It's pretty much the same. I'm guessing security lines in the TBIT in the early morning won't be bad.

  • Should I ask for and earlier flight?

I am flying from SYD to LAX on June 18 on Delta, arriving in LAX at 6:45 in the morning. I am booked on a connecting flight to ATL at 12:10 pm. Is it worth it to see if I can get an earlier connection? Should I check this when I get to the airport to check-in at SYD?

Yes, if there's like a 10 AM flight and they can move you to it that might be good.

  • Connecting TBIT to T8 : walk or shuttle bus
    Jun 13, 2016

We have 2 hours connecting LAN arriving flight at TBIT to UA flight at T8. Can we walk to T8 without going through the security again at T8? How long does it take to walk? Is it faster than taking shuttle bus then going through security line at t8 again? Thanks for sharing your info. This is our first time connecting flight at LAX.

When you arrive on LAN you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, and go through US Customs. At this point you will already be outside security. You will actually go back through security in T7. It is faster to walk than to take the shuttle.

We're coming in to LAX from hong Kong on Cathay Pacific with a transfer to SFO on Delta. our flight out of hong kong has been delayed. Scheduled arrival in LAX is 12pm and next flight out to SFO is 2pm. Is there any chance of catching the domestic flight? Can we ask to be bumped up the queue through customs to catch the connection?

    There's still a chance.

Flying into LAX T1 at 7:45am and have 2 hrs to do bag collection, customs and get to T6 for 9:50am flight to Alaska. What are my chances of getting on my connecting flight. Is walking my only option. Any suggestions

Where are you flying into LAX from? No flights that require customs arrive in Terminal 1.

  • Connecting from Terminal 7 to 2 & Customs

We have a 2 hour layover to connect flight to Canada around 5:45 on Tuesday morning from T7 to T2. Would we have to go thro' customs & is 2 hour enough time to make our flight?

Where are you flying into Terminal 7 from?

We are flying in from Maui (Hawaii)

There is no US customs when leaving the US. You just have to go from T7 to T2 and go through security.

Thanks for the update, so is 2 hours enough to grab our check in & cross over to T2 for security & check in that early on Tues morning? what's the quickest way to get from T7 to T2?

Yes, that should be enough time. The quickest way is to walk straight across the parking garages from T7 to T2.

  • Walking instructions from TBIT to Terminal 5

Looking for the walking/process instructions from TBIT to Terminal 5. After going through US immigration, collecting luggage, how do I walk from TBIT to Terminal 5

You exit the building and walk to the right. The second building you come to (the one that says Delta all over it) is Terminal 5.

  • Transferring from Virgin America to Air New Zealand

Hi, I'm looking to make two separate bookings, but want to make sure I have enough time first. My first flight is from LAS to LAX, arriving into Terminal 3 at 6.30pm. I then have to claim my bags and get to TBIT to check into an Air New Zealand flight departing at 9.30pm. Is three hours enough time to make this connection on two separate bookings? Also my bag has to be dropped at bag drop by 8.15pm. Do I have enough time to do that?

That should be enough time if the first flight is on-time. The International Terminal where you depart is right next to Terminal 3.
