Hi. We are arriving from Sydney into LAX TBIT at 6.45am on a VA flight, then have to get to T5 for an 8.25am Delta flight. We have baggage. How will the new connector help us? What's the quickest way to do this?
After you clear customs and re-check your bags you can now go through security in the TBIT and then walk to your departure gate in T5 inside security. It's not really a whole lot faster than walking to T5 and going through security there though. Maybe the lines are shorter at the new checkpoint in the TBIT. The new connector is more of a big deal connecting from T5/6/7/8 to the TBIT than vice-versa, although it does simplify the process a bit for people transiting from the TBIT to those terminals.
Thanks ZAP. Question for anyone else out there; has anyone done this connection recently using the new connector from TBIT to T5 inside 1.5 hours?
my flight on hawaiian arrives terminal 2 5:30 am. how do i get to terminal 2 to catch southwest flight; how much time needed to get baggage and do i need to go through security again to get to terminal 1 for southwest flight?
You walk. I wouldn't book a Southwest flight before 7:30.
My flight from SYD lands in LA at 6:05. I have my flight to dallas at 8;30 and then i'll fly dallas to mexico. I'm wondering do I have to go through immigration if my final stop is not in the USA. I am not staying the U.S at all, only transiting through 2 destinations.
This is all booked through the same airline (qantas), through the same booking (ie. SYD-MEX (via LA and Dallas) but it's a code share with american airlines
Yes, in LAX you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate. In DFW you just go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You will go through Mexican Immigration and Customs when you get to Mexico.
Hi, due to arrive in LAX, Terminal B from SYD at 6.05AM (AA72). Connection to JFK has been changed to 8.00AM departure (AA82). Itinerary does not state LAX terminal. Flights on same ticket. Is this do-able? And what will we have to do to transit? Thanks!!
Yes, that is just enough time. You will depart from Terminal 4. You will arrive in the International Terminal, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, follow the signs for connecting passengers, go through security and to your departure gate.
Hello we are flying with virgin from London Heathrow and have a stop over in Lax for 3 hour before catching our American airline flight to Honolulu. Booked together through our travel agent, will we have to collect luggage and re check in and go through customs at lax?
Yes, in LAX you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk if they are tagged to Honolulu. Then walk to Terminal 4, get your AA boarding passes if you don't already have them then go through security. You have enough time.
Arriving LAX on AA182 in Terminal 4 from Shanghai, need to get to Terminal 6 for a flight to SJC. Will use the tunnel from T4 to T6, but where is the immigration and custom to go? In T4 or T6?
You will arrive in T4 or the International Terminal, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security in Terminal 6, then go to the gate for the shuttle to the American Eagle remote terminal.
Thanks ZAP. My tickets are on the same reservation, and the connecting flight to SJC is also AA (Operated by Compass Airlines as American Eagle). Do I still need to get the luggage?
Where do I re-check in the luggage？In T4 or T6?
You will re-check your bags right after you clear customs in whatever terminal you arrive in. Yes, you have to claim your baggage to take it through US Customs.
