Good Day Helpful Advisor(s),
1) I will be arriving LAX via Qatar Airways at 1.25pm, and will be taking Virgin America to Las Vegas at 3.35pm (approximately 2 hours gap). Is this do-able or should I take a later flight.
2) I need to collect my baggage and re-check in for Virgin America, needn't I?
Thank you very much. Appreciate some feedback.
This is going to be very very close. I reccomend booking a connection of 2h30m+. If it was all one airline, I'd say that you could go with it, and if you miss the flight, the airline will rebook you. However, since it's two different airlines, neither Qatar nor Virgin America would rebook you, meaning you'd have to pay out of pocket. Id say take the later flight.
Thank You Very Much Andy! I will choose a much later flight.
Hi, I'll be travelling to Hawaii, going through LAX as our onward connection to Hawaii. Will I need to recheck into our Hawaii flight or will this be arranged as a transfer (using same airline) . If so, please advise on appropriate connection times required. Thanks
From where are you flying into LAX and with which airlines are you flying?
Hi, I'll be flying in from London Heathrow on British Airways. the onward flight to Oahu was also booked through BA but possibly operated by American Airlines.
In LAX you will arrive in the International Terminal, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, walk to your departure terminal (either 4 or 6, go through security and to your departure gate. At least 2 hours is recommended. Your flight to Hawaii will indeed be operated by American.
thank so much for the help. we have a 4 hour change over and 3 on the way back so fingers crossed that will be sufficient.
what are the choices and best for 2 elderly people
please reply
If you have time then take the shuttle that runs outside security. It's slow but you won't have to carry your bags the whole way then.
I am departing LAX to SYD on Qantas at 10:30 pm. What would be the minimum connection time I should allow arriving from NY? The flights will be on separate tickets. Would American Airlines be the best option as they arrive at Terminal 4?
Yes, American would probably be the best option. I would plan on arriving in LAX by at least 8 PM.
Thanks, will we need to collect checked luggage on arrival at LAX, and re-enter security at TBIT or can luggage be checked through from NY if flights are on separate tickets from New York to LAX on American then from LAX to SYD on Qantas?
Since AA and Sydney are OneWorld partners, the agent in JFK should be able to tag your bags to Sydney if you show your Qantas reservation. However, they are not obligated to.
I'll be flying American into LAX from Arkansas with a 58 minute connection time to fly American to Tokyo. Is this doable?
Yes, you will go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time, as long as your flight from Bentonville/Little Rock is on time.

I arrive on a code-shared United/Air New Zealand flight arriving at T7 at 8PM and need to go to TBIT to make a midnight flight. Is this enough time. Not sure if I get a Air New Zealand boarding pass or if I need to check in at LAX at the counter. It was bought as a code share ticket.
United should be able to issue your ANZ boarding pass. You have plenty of time.
Im flying on 2 different airlines Qantas and American.

AKL(New Zealand)- LAX on QANTAS and LAX-MBJ (Jamaica). If Qantas does not put a tag on my bag to final destination, Jamaica, is there a counter at customs where American will? Will this be fast?

We only have a 2 hour layover, not a lot of time.

Should we not check bags and do carry on only?

Thanks all!!
Qantas does not fly from Auckland to LAX - both flights will be on American. If both tickets are on the same reservation then your bags will be tagged through to MBJ but you will still have to claim them to go through US Customs in LAX. This is a somewhat difficult connection, carry-ons only would make it easier.
I am arriving from Sydney at TBIT Mon 6.30am and need to be on a flight from Term 2 to Canada with checked in luggage departing 8.35am . will i have enough time.
If both flights are on one reservation, you have enough time. If they are in separate reservations, you will probably be short of time. If there are separate reservations, I recommend not booking this itinerary as you will have to pay out of pocket for a new flight to Canada if you miss it in LAX.
Can a US citizen arriving on China Air at 9:20 pm with no checked baggage make an American Airlines departure at 10:40 from T4?
That is not possible. You need at least 2.5 hours to be safe at LAX, to pull off this connection. You will have to go through customs and immigration, walk to Terminal 4, check your bags with American, and go through security. A 1h20m connection is impossible.
I'll be taking a flight via PAL from Manila to LAX and AA going to BNA. Ill be arriving by 7.30pm and my next flight is 10.25pm. Will this be enough time?

What is also the procedure in LAX? Do i need to get my baggage and go thru immigration and re-check in my luggage?
Btw this is on the same ticket reservation and will arrive in TBIT.
You will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go outside, walk to Terminal 4 or Terminal 6 where your flight will depart (check the monitors or and then go thorough security. You have enough time.
Is terminal 6 near? Is it better to walk or take the shuttle?
There is no shuttle outside of security. You will have to walk. It's not too far.
There is a shuttle outside security but it is slow and gets stuck in traffic. It's best to walk.
