I will arrive to LAX from BOG (Avianca Flight AV86) to Terminal 2 at 19h20. I then take the flight to Auckland by Air New Zealand at 21h45, which gives me exactly 2h25 to change planes. Although both airlines are Star Alliance members, I bought the two tickets separately. Will I be able to make the connection?
That will be very difficult, although I won't say it's outright impossible.
Thank you for you quick answer. One last question: Will I increase my chances if I take only hand-bagage with me so I don't have to wait for my bags and go right away trough immigration?
Yes, not bringing checked bags will make it much easier.
Hi, I was hoping that someone could assist. I will be flying LHR-LAX on BA, arriving 13:25, then need to choose an onward flight to LAS. I'm looking to take the American Airlines flight at 16:50, would this give me enough time? I will have luggage in the hold. Thank you.
Yes, that would be enough time.
I intend on flying from Los Cabos to LAX landing Terminal 6 at 14.28. My next flight will depart to Moscow at 16.55 from the Tom Bradley Terminal, I will have luggage and golf clubs. Is 2 hours long enough to go through the process of connecting, collect luggage etc. Thanks Matt.
Realistically no, that is not enough time.
I'm booking a flight from Vancouver BC to Tucson, AZ. I go through customs at Vancouver. Delta lands at T-5 and connection leaves from T-2. A) How much time is needed to get to the new gate? B) Do I have to go through security again? (Please say no!) THANKS.
No flights form LA to Tucson use Terminal 2. What airlines are you flying?
Hello, traveling back from Amsterdam via KLM/Delta into LAX; then flying LaX to RNO on American. Is 2h 25m enough time to get through customs and get checked in to next flight? No checked bags.
With no checked bags this is possible but leaves no time to spare - especially since you will have to take the shuttle to the American Eagle remote terminal after clearing security in T6 in LAX.
I am flying from Denver to lax on American and then from lax to maui on United. The airline made a schedule change and I now only have 1 hour and 15 minutes between flights. I know American is in terminal 4 and United terminal 7/8. Will I need to go through security again? Tickets were purchased together and are on same itinerary. We will not have checked bags. I'm still worried that this is cutting it way too close!
You do not have to go through security again. You can take a tunnel walkway inside security from T4 to T5 to T6 and then a walkway at the base of the terminal to T7 or 8. It is possible if the first flight is on-time.
I arrive at LAX from Australia at 6.30am and connect delta to Las Vegas 8.50. Is that enough time
What airlines are you flying? Are your tickets on the same reservation or two separate reservations? Do you have checked bags.
Flying virgin Australia then with delta. Different tickets and yes checked bags
On two separate tickets that will be very difficult. Nearly impossible.
I'm flying from San Diego with United express UA5444 arriving at LAX at 9.45pm and then have to catch UA 839 at 10.40pm at LAX to Sydney all on 1 ticket. Is 55 minutes layover enough time? Do I still have to go through customs since I'm going domestic from SAN to LAX but from LAX, it is international to SYD. My luggage will be checked in at San Diego direct to SYD but I'm still worried about going through customs in LAX...will they still have to screen me and my laptop/carry on right? Do you know the walking time from Terminal 8 to the international airport to catch the UA flight to SYD?
Yes, that is enough time. There is no US Customs when leaving the US. All you have to do in LAX is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. Your flight to Sydney will depart from Terminal 7, which is directly connected to Terminal 8.
Hi there- I'm flying in from Norwegian air to the international terminal at 6:15 and have about 1:45 minutes until my connecting flight out of southwest in terminal 1. I won't be checking bags onto the latter flight as southwest usually allows me to carry on. Is this possible?
It's barely possible if you check in online for your Southwest flight before you leave Europe and your Norwegian flight is on-time and the immigration lines aren't bad and you hurry to Terminal 1. I personally wouldn't try it.
Thank you for this. I would like to add that I do need to also get to baggage claim for my suitcase before trying to head off to terminal 1 for my southwest flight - but I am assuming that you knew this when you said this connection its barely possible? Just making sure that time was calculated in for that. And will I have to go through security again at terminal 1? Thanks again.
Yes, I figured that. Yes, you will have to go through security again in Terminal 1.
Hi. We are arriving from Sydney into LAX TBIT at 6.45am on a VA flight, then have to get to T5 for an 8.25am Delta flight. We have baggage. How will the new connector help us? What's the quickest way to do this?
After you clear customs and re-check your bags you can now go through security in the TBIT and then walk to your departure gate in T5 inside security. It's not really a whole lot faster than walking to T5 and going through security there though. Maybe the lines are shorter at the new checkpoint in the TBIT. The new connector is more of a big deal connecting from T5/6/7/8 to the TBIT than vice-versa, although it does simplify the process a bit for people transiting from the TBIT to those terminals.
Thanks ZAP. Question for anyone else out there; has anyone done this connection recently using the new connector from TBIT to T5 inside 1.5 hours?
