I am arriving to LAX via Denver gate 7 11:45pm going to Taipei depart 1:05am how much time do I need between flights? Is this ennough time?

What airlines are you flying? Did you purchase your tickets separately or together? If purchased separately you do not have enough time.

Looking at china airlines not purchased together no baggage carry on only

arriving in to lax via united airlines

Even with carry on only that would be very difficult, if not impossible.

My flight lands at lax at 11:30 not the 11:45 I posted before

  • Landing in LAX terminal 8 and then to Bradely for a flight to Japan
    Mar 10, 2015

We land in LAX from PHX and we have a gran total of 60 minutes before our flight heads out of the International Bradley Terminal for Japan. What are my best options to make it to Bradley quickly? Is this even possible in 1 hour? Are there buses that run on the tarmac that will take us or do we have to get shuttled through the terminal. To make it more interesting, one of the travelers has arthritis.

There are no tarmac buses from Terminal 8 to the International Terminal. You can either walk or take the shuttle bus on the curbside. It is possible in one hour. This assumes your tickets were purchased together and thus your bags will be transferred. Also please note that if your LAX-Japan flight is operated by United you do not have to go to the international Terminal

Thanks so much!! I also just checked that we don't have to go to the International terminal... Normally we fly the Japanese airline and I was nervous. All good - this will be a super easy connection!

  • Is 2 hrs enough for Int'l connecting to domestic? Int'l Passports.

We're arrriving on DL284 from Narita (at 11am) with a 2 hr connection to MSP on DL211. Would it be enough to clear immigration, customs & transfer the luggage? It's on a through ticket to MSP.

Yes, that should be enough time. Everything will be handled in Terminal 5.

Thanks for ur quick reply! Appreciate that!

  • enough time for Duty free at LAX
    Mar 10, 2015

I'm flying from San Diego to Lax and taking a flight to Montreal without check-in bags. I believe I should wait for my duty free shopping for wines until Lax because I have to go through security again, but 80 minutes layover is enough to go through security and purchase the duty free??

Unless you purchased two separate tickets you will not have to go through security again at LAX. However, you will not be allowed to do duty free shopping at SAN anyway because you will not have an international boarding pass departing SAN.

  • Baggage from International to Domestic

Hi. I have 2.5 or so hour layover in LA from Sydney this Saturday. Do I need to pick up my baggage and then go through customs to transfer?

Yes, you will go through US Immigration, claim your baggage, go through US Customs, then re-check your baggage at the transfer desk, assuming it is tagged to your final destination.

I will be arriving at TB 6.30am on Delta from Brisbane and have to catch Delta flight at 8.25am to Cancun from T5.How do I get to T5 and will I have enough time?

Note that your flight from Brisbane will be operated by Virgin Australia. Assuming you bought both tickets together, You will arrive in the International Terminal, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then exit the international terminal and walk to your right. The second building you come to will be Terminal 5 - it's about a 5-10 minute walk. Get your Delta boarding pass if you don't already have it and go through security. You barely have enough time if everything goes smoothly.

  • Connecting flight UA to AC at LAX
    Mar 9, 2015
    3
We have a connecting flight on April 21th in LAX from UA to AC with 6 Hr 38 min. layover. Arrive at terminal 7 and depart from terminal 2. Will our baggage be passed through to our final flight and will we have to go through security at LAX? Can this distance be walked without too much effort?

Is your UA flight domestic or International? If it's domestic and you purchased your tickets together your bags will be transferred. Yes, T7 to T2 is quite walkable, you just walk straight across the center of the airport through the parking garage. You will have to go through security again in T2.

This is the homeward part of the flight purchased through Aeroplan and Air Canada. Depart from YYZ to SFO on AC; connect to UA to HNL on March 30th. and return from HNL to LAX via UA on April 21. Connect to AC at LAX and depart to YYZ. Will boarding passes be emailed for both AC and UA within 24 hours of departure from YYZ on March 30 or will I have to contact UA direct for boarding passes. As there is a 6 hour + layover at LAX on return, what type of activities are available, restaurants, etc. at LAX?

Yes, UA should issue both boarding passes when you check in in Honolulu. There are some restaurants in LAX. There is a food court outside security in the international terminal. But other than that most restaurants are small and located inside the secure area of the terminals.

40 minute layover, arrive in terminal 5 and have to go to terminal 2. Is this going to be possible? Thanks in advance!

What airport are you talking about? Where are you coming from and going to? What airline or airlines are you flying?

  • connecting on Delta from Sydney

Hi, Delta is noting only a 1 hr 10 min connection is legal for customs and to get to the next flight in LAX -DL 16 cnx DL 80 to ATL - is customs really that quick? I have waited that long for my luggage in other airports.

No, that is insufficient. You need at least 90 minutes.

  • Layover LAX to London Heathrow

Sacramento/LAX/Heathrow 95 minute layover. Is this enough time to get from Delta to Virgin Atlantic terminal and will it be enough time for our luggage to be transfered to Virgin Atlantic. Tickets bought through Delta which is partners with Virgin Atlantic on some oversea flights. Will Delta trasfer our luggage for us.

Yes, Delta will transfer your luggage and should issue both boarding passes in Sacramento. All you have to do is walk from T5 to the International Terminal and go through security. That should be plenty of time.

  • Assistance from West Jet arrival to Quantas
    Mar 5, 2015

I am travelling from Calgary on West Jet , through Lax and then to Australia On Quantas. I have a 3 hour layover to do this.I don.t have a clue what the process is. is it clearly marked? I have one checked bag. Any help is appreciated!

Did you purchase your tickets separately or together? You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Calgary so your arrival in LAX will be like a domestic flight. If you purchased separate tickets you will claim your bags in T2, take them to the International Terminal (you can either walk or take a shuttle bus), then check in with Qantas and go through security to your gate. If you purchased your tickets together the process is the same except that your baggage will be transferred for you.

Thanks so much for your reply! You have reeassured me. I bought my tickets together through Expedia.

    What airline are you flying?

  • FLIGHT CONNECTION AND TIME

im flying from Narita to LAX - LAX to Raliegh NC.The layover once i touched down LAX is only 1h10min .do i have enough time to make it ontime for my flight to NC?

No, that is not enough time. You need to change your booking to allow at least 90 minutes if your tickets were purchased together and 2.5 hours if you purchased two separate tickets.

why is that not enuff time? Is the traffic in the terminal im going thru gets busy? im travelling thru Delta 1736 to Raliegh

Upon arrival in LAX you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the transfer desk, go through security and go to your departure gate. 90 minutes is the recommended time for that connection.

  • SWA to HA separate bookings

I will be traveling from Denver to LAX on SWA and can land at 9:45 in June, have luggage at baggage claim and transfer to HA for 1:30 flight. Is this enough time, knowing that HA is usually iready to close doors at noted departure time

Yes, that should be enough time, especially considering that you just have to go from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2.

Unfortunately my layover is super short - flying in from Denver with United (Terminal 7 or 8 it seems) and I have to make it to the international terminal in about 40 minutes. I know I already have to make it through security again but do I have to recheck my bags? Insight would be appreciated if I should even attempt this.

Assuming you purchased all your tickets together, your bags should be transferred automatically.

Thanks, that helps a lot. I read that you have to go through security again when entering the international terminal. My flight lands all 11:35 PM. Anyone have any insight as to how busy it might be?

There are a number of flights to the South Pacific and Asia that leave around that time, but security lines are still reasonable 5-10 minutes.
