  • Terminal 6 to Tom Bradley INTL Terminal
    Dec 9, 2015
I have a traveler flying into Terminal 6 arriving 9:40pm (Alaska) Departs Terminal Tom Bradly Intl 11:20pm (Qantas) to Brisbane Australia. Will he have time to go from one terminal to the other, go through customs, and catch his flight on time?

There is no US Customs when exiting the US. If both of your tickets are on the same reservation and your bags are tagged through to Brisbane, you just have to go from T6 to the International, get your Qantas boarding pass if you don't already have it, and go through security. You should have enough time in that case.

  • arriving from Sydney and flying to Denver
    Dec 8, 2015
Hi, my daughter will be arriving in LA from Sydney at 6.20am on Qantas and she will then be getting a connecting flight to Denver via Southwest at 9.00am. Will she have to get her bags at the International terminal and take them and check-in at Southwest or can she somehow check them in at the international terminal?

She will have to take them with her to terminal 1. Southwest doesn't interline bags with other airlines.

  • Terminal B to Terminal 6
    Dec 8, 2015
I am coming from London via British Airways at 13:55 (Terminal B) and have a connecting American Airlines flight at 16:20 (Terminal 6). I have a couple of questions: 1) Whether it's enough time to change terminal. 2) Process of Immigration and re-checking of luggage?

Assuming all your tickets were purchased on the same reservation, you will arrive in the International Terminal, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, follow signs for connecting passengers, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go outside the International terminal and walk to your right. American Airlines flights can depart from Terminal 4 or 6, most of them depart from 4, but if you confirm online that your flight is leaving from 6, you will walk for about 5-10 minutes to your right (with the flow of vehicle traffic), go in T6, through security and to your departure gate. You should have enough time.

Thanks ZAP.. You are awesome.. I read your comment in an earlier post.. It helped a lot.

  • Stroller for layover?
    Dec 7, 2015
We're travelling on Air NZ via LAX to London. Will I be able to have my stroller for my child during transit at LAX?

Yes, if you gate check it they should bring it to the gate in LAX.

  • Connect from Alaska 6 to American 4?
    Dec 7, 2015
Is there a tunnel that connects these two now? I know the map doesn't show it but someone said there actually is. Any updated info? Trying to make a tight connection today.

Yes, there is, it connects 4, 5, and 6 underground inside security.

  • southwest to Alaska terminals
    Dec 7, 2015
I'm arriving on Southwest at 5:30 pm and departing from Alaska at 8:30 pm. I'm traveling with a youngster and checked luggage. What is the fastest route to terminal 6 from terminal 1?

The fastest route is to walk, straight across the airport across the parking garages in the middle.

Thank you! Flight delayed 2 hours so it has cut our time in half. I appreciate the advice!

  • Tranferring and down time
    Dec 10, 2015
I am flying in from Sydney arriving at LAX at 6.25 am. I arrive on Qantas, then have a United flight to Cancun at 9.30am. Am I able to leave the airport to meet someone? Can I meet a local at the airport itself for breakfast? Do I have to collect and re-check my baggage, or is that done automatically? I am on an ESTA waiver and a New Zealand citizen....can I exit the airport?

You will be outside security after you clear customs. If you purchased two separate itineraries you will arrive in the International Terminal, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then follow the signs for passengers ending their journey in Los Angeles, then exit the International terminal (you could meet your friend here), then walk to your right (with the flow of vehicle traffic), then walk for 10-15 minutes until you get to Terminal 7 where you will re-check your bags with United and go through security. You should have enough time if your flight from Sydney is on-time.

What if it was all part of one itinerary? Thanks Heaps

If flights are on one reservation then you can recheck your bags at the recheck desk after customs in the international terminal

Hello I've never been to Lax airport but I have a flight arriving lax 7:20 am on united then I have to recheck my bags with Hawaiian air which is at terminal 2 and the flight departs 8:35am is that enough time ??

No, that's not realistically enough time. Either don't check a bag or fly in the night before.

We're flying YVR to LAX with Delta, arriving at 2215 and then on to BNE with Virgin departing at 2350. What are your thoughts on making this connection at LAX?

  • Transfer international to domestic
    Dec 6, 2015
Hello! We are excited to be traveling with American Airlines into LA, out of Sydney then straight to NY (same ticket) and need to transfer from international to Domestic. Arriving 6:35 and departing 9:00. Will we have enough time? We will be traveling with a 12m old and are a little concerned about the transit. Thanks!!

    That's 6:30am to 9:00am!

Yes, that should be plenty of time. You will arrive, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs re-check your bags at the re-check desk immediately after, then go through security and to your departure gate.

Thank you! A huge weight off our mind. Btw great site, great service!

  • Changing from a domestic flight to an international flight
    Dec 5, 2015
I arrive in LAX, Terminal 4 on Dec 22 on AA 2280 at 6:55pm from Dallas, TX. Then I need to catch a flight to the Philippines PR103 at 9:10p in Terminal B. I have a few questions. 1. What is the fastest way to get from Terminal 4 to Terminal B? 2. Do I need to pick my luggage and check in again? 3. I have never done this kind of flight plan before. What is the whole process? 4. Do you think I have enough time to catch my flight to the Philippines? I am scared I made a mistake as I purchase this ticket from Orbitz. A round trip ticket from LIT, AR to Dallas, TX to LAX to Manila, Philippines. Any ideas and suggestions are welcomed. Thank you.

Terminal 4 and the International Terminal are right next to each other, just walk. If all your tickets are on the same reservation then the agent in Little Rock should be able to check your bags through to Manila. In LAX you will arrive in Terminal 4, exit it, walk to your left, the next building you come to will be the international terminal. Then you will probably have to get your Phillipine Airlines boarding pass (last time I was there it was on the left side of the building in front), then go through security and to your departure gate. You should have enough time if your flight from Dallas is on-time.

Thanks, Zap. I also, called AA and they said I would need to pick up my luggage when I get to LAX and check in at the Philippine Airlines kiosk. Would you know how far baggage claim is from Terminal 4? With this new dynamic, get off plane, get luggage, walk to TBIT, check in at Philippine Airline kiosk, then go through security again (right) - in your opinion will I make it in time? I really appreciate the help.

The AA baggage claim is IN terminal 4 on the lower level. You should have enough time. People form a huge line at the Philippine check in counter before it opens and the line should just be clearing up by the time you get there. It's literally like a 1-2 minute walk from Terminal 4 to the International Terminal

Thank you for all your help! Take care!

  • Transfer from TBIT to terminal 5
    Dec 5, 2015
I will be arriving at LAX on China Southern Air at 9:40am. Then I continue to SLC on China Southern Air operated by Delta at 11:40 am. Is it enough time for me to go thru custom. Do I need to get my luggage and re-check luggage? Do I need to go terminal 5? Thank you

Yes, you will arrive in the International Terminal, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then follow the sigh for connecting passengers and re-check your bags at the re-check desk. Then you will exit the International Terminal, walk to your right (with the flow of traffic), the second building you come to will be Terminal 5. Go inside, get your Delta boarding pass if you don't already have it, and go through security. You should have enough time.

    Thank you!

  • connecting flight
    Dec 4, 2015
We have 2 1/2 hours between returning flight from Australia to connecting flight with Southwest. Will that be enough time? Also how long does it take to walk from TBIT to Terminal 1?

That is barely enough time. It's about a 10 minute walk from the TBIT to T1.

  • Short Transfer TBIT to Terminal 1
    Dec 4, 2015
My flight from Sydney id ETA TBIT at 6:30. I am planning a separately booked Southwest onward flight ETD 8:20. I am familiar with LAX and plan to walk from TBIT to Terminal 1. Think this might be possible?

I think that would only be possible without checked baggage.

  • Delta Flight From Sydney Connecting Southwest Flight to Tucson
    Dec 4, 2015
I am arriving at Terminal 5 at 6:10am on a Delta flight from Sydney. Purchased connecting flight separately on Southwest airlines from Terminal 1 at 8:35am foolishly as a friend told us we would have plenty of time to make the connection. Will be 4 travelers in all with luggage that we will have to pick up and recheck.. Please any advice on how to make this connection will be greatly appreciated!!! I just dont see how we will clear customs and immigration in time!!!

It's possible. It doesn't leave you a lot of time to spare but you should be the only flight arriving at that time. If you hustle to Terminal 1 you can make it.

  • Connecting from South West or American to New Zealand Air
    Dec 3, 2015
I have a round trip reservation on New Zealand Air. I need to make my own reservation on probably American or South West to connect the New Zealand. I will have to check in and re check my luggage. How far are these terminals from each other. I will need to allow plenty of time. Thank you.

American's terminal 4 is right next to the International Terminal that Air New Zealand uses. Southwest's Terminal 1 is about a 10 minute walk. You will need about 2.5 hours each way.
