Hi, we've got a flight from Auckland into LAX, then connecting onto Denver, with 2hr. 25 minute layover. We get into LAX around 3pm and the tickets are all on one reservation with United, but the first flight is operated by Air New Zealand. I'm just worried about customs, etc. because we have checked bags and seats at the rear of the plane. Is this enough time and what is the easiest way to transfer? Will we need to take our bags to the new terminal?
Yes, that should be enough time. You can re-check your bags in the International Terminal after you clear customs.
If I am flying from San Francisco and have a layover in LAX before I go to Tokyo will I have to recheck my bags and go through customs/security? My time connection at LAX only 53 min, is it enough to do this connection?
I can't answer this question unless you post what airlines you are flying. What airlines are you flying?
I will use Japan Airlines, on Dec 17, depart from SFO (8 AM) to LAX (9:47 AM) using JAL 7555, from LAX (10:40 AM) to HND (Tokyo) (3:55 PM) using JAL 7017.
Ok, both of those flights are actually on American. All you have to do in LAX is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have plenty of time.
I arrive at TBIT by Emirates at 1.55pm. I am taking an Alaska Airlines plane to Seattle at 4.25pm. Do you think I have enough time to make it through immigration, collect my bags, go to Terminal 6, check in again, go through customs again? Any advice? Thanks.
If both tickets are on the same reservation that is just enough time. You don't have to go through customs twice. You will go through security in Terminal 6.
I'm going to fly to Japan(NRT) from Las Vegas, transit at Los Angels. Do I need to pick up my check-in baggage at Los Angels Airport?
Yes, you have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and to your departure gate. You may also have to change terminals. If you post what airlines you are flying I can help you with the terminals.
I am arriving on an Air Canada flight from Vancouver and connecting to a LAN flight to Lima at LAX. AC tell me as its one ticket and my hold bag is checked through I don't need to pick it up at LAX and check it in again. Is this right?
You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Vancouver, so yes, if everything is on the same reservation your bags will be transferred automatically to LAN at LAX.
Great - thanks. So can I just go straight from terminal 2 to the Tom Bradley terminal without having to go through customs again? I have a 2 hour turnaround.
Correct. You just have to go through security in the International Terminal.
I arrive from Tokyo on JAL 62 at 1120hrs (Terminal B) and depart for Salt Lake City at 1525hrs (Terminal 6) on Compass.
This is a single reservation booked under JAL.
Will I have sufficient time to go through Immigration & Customs to catch my flight to SLC?
Yes, that is enough time. Note that your flight to SLC is marketed as American Eagle (you won't find a "Compass" sign anywhere) and that it will depart from the American Eagle Remote Terminal, which is accessible by a shuttle bus from Terminal 6.
Have a Southwest flight arriving at 5:45pm with Fiji Airways connection at 9:30pm. Ordinarily this would seem to be plenty of time but the flight is taking place the day after Thanksgiving. I know, historically, the day before that holiday is amongst the worst but am unsure of the day after. Given the variability of holiday travel would it be recommended to get an earlier flight into LAX?
The day after (the Friday) is not a busy travel day. That is enough time.
