We come from HK (CX884) and arrive LAX at 1110, and will transfer to Lima by Lan airlines LA2477 1355. The same terminal arrival and departure. Two tickets, but i suppose CX will help us to check through the baggage to Lima and will give us the Lan boarding pass (one world). Right?
Do we have enough time??
Cathay may not be able to issue your LATAM boarding pass, especially because it's two separate reservations. You will also still have to claim your bags in LAX to bring them through US Customs, even if you can get them tagged through to LIM. This is a somewhat risky connection.
We arrive in terminal b at 6:10am at LAX and have a layover of 1hr 50m with united before leaving from terminal 7. It's all one flight on the same ticket reservation. Do we have to clear the customs and recheck luggage for this? Is this enough time for an 8am flight out?
Yes, you have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate. You have just enough time if everything goes perfectly.
1 - we arrive international (Qantas) at LAX 7am and then connect UA to Cancun 9.30am. They are 2 separate tickets and we will have checked baggage. Both flights are booked business class. Is this enough time? I understand we have to collect our bags and change terminals, but is there a way of not having to go through immigration twice? 2 - Same for our return. We arrive LAX on Southwest from Cancun 8.10pm and then depart international (Qantas) 10.30pm for Sydney. Our return flight to Sydney is also business class.
You don't have to go through Immigration twice as there is no US Immigration when leaving the US. You will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, take them to Terminal 7, re-check them with United, and go through security.
Your return is a bit harder but at least then everything will be in the International Terminal.
Thank you for your quick response! Do you think I have allowed enough time? The issue I have is there are no other direct flights that connect up to our Qantas flights. I'm trying to avoid a layover or take 12 travel hours to get to Cancun.
I think they're both doable, but neither leaves much wiggle room.
Hi Zap, I found another return flight: UA Cancun - LAX arriving LAX 8.30pm, then onward to Sydney with Qantas 10.30pm. They are 2 separate tickets. It is only 20 min difference vs the Souhtwest option mentioned above. Which airline would Cancun - LAX would you choose?
I'm looking at a flight from Denver to LAX on United that lands at 8:51pm. The United connecting flight to Melbourne leaves at 10:30pm, so there's 1 hour, 39 minutes between flights. Is that enough time to make a connection? I will have checked luggage, but assuming that would be transferred automatically.
Thank you in advance for the help!
Yes, that is enough time. All you have to do on the way to Melbourne is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.
My husband and I will be flying in to Lax on Southwest Terminal 1 to Qantas to Australia. Our flight in from Denver is supposed to arrive in LAX at 7:30 pm and our Qantas connection is scheduled to leave at 10:10 pm...I am concerned we may miss our connection after getting our luggage and then going through security again once we get to Tom Brady...do you think this is doable?
Yes, I think this is enough time if the Southwest flight is on-time.
My husband and I will once again be arriving at the international terminal at LAX. We have a flight to home departing from terminal 8. Is there a way to get from the international terminal to terminal eight without having to go back through security?
You will have to go through security anyways after clearing US Immigration and Customs in order to access your departure gate. Personally, I think it would be faster just to walk to T7 and go through security there (T8 doesn't have its own security checkpoint).
My wife and I will arrive in terminal 7/8 on United Airlines. We will leave 2h 36m later on Fiji Airlines in the international terminal B. We will have checked luggage. Is this transfer realistic and, if so, what is the best way to negotiate this transfer?
That's just enough time if everything goes perfectly. You will have to claim your bags and move as quickly as you can with them to the Fiji Airways check-in desk in the International Terminal.
do you have to go through security again? I have the same connections
