  • JFK - LAX - MELB

I leave JFK and arrive at LAX at 21:04 flying Qantas operated by Ameican Airlines and my flight with Qantas departs from LAX for MELB at 22:50. Is this anough time between terminals? and do I need to pick up bags and recheck them at LAX? my flights are on the same ticket.

Your bags will be checked straight through to MEL. All you have to do is walk from T4 where you will arrive to the International Terminal where you will depart and go through security.

Im flying houston to manila on EVA via connection at LAX. My flight to LA is on United and I know EVA is over at the international terminal and I have a 3 hour layeover. Will I have to recheck my bags at TBIT or can I go straight to security? My ticket is under one reservation

You will not have to collect your bags in LAX. Just walk from T7 to the International Terminal and go through security.

  • Help with baggage between terminal 7 and international

My wife will be taveling through LAX, flying in on United, flying out on Air Fiji (International). She has two separate tickets so she will need to pick up her bags from terminal 7 and take them to the international terminal. She will have 3 large check-on bags, plus her carry-ons. What is the best method to get from Terminal 7 to the Internation Terminal? Thanks for any help

If she has plenty of time she can try to hustle them on and off of the shuttle bus. If she wants to bring them herself then she should purchase and pack a foldable luggage cart.

Thanks, but I forgot to mention that she has trouble with her legs and needs someone else to help lift the bags. Will a skycap take them for her? What about using a taxi? And how much would that cost? Thanks for any help. And, yes, she has plenty of time (about 5 hours).

Oh, and one more thing - if she uses the shuttle will there be someone who can help her put the bags on and off? Thanks.

There's nobody whose job it is to help people, but there's a good chance she can get someone to help her.

    Thank you much

I am an Australian and already completed ESTA. I am flying in from Hong Kong on 7 March arriving LAX 0650. I have a connecting flight to Houston Hobby via Southwest departing terminal 1 at 0955. I have one checked baggage. Will I have enough time to get the connecting flight knowing that I have to do baggage check in again at Southwest counter?

Yes, as long as your first flight is on-time that should be enough time.

Thank you. It is nice to have such a quick response.

I am arriving delta thu 2:45 and departing Hawaiian air 5pm. Tickets purchased separately so will need to get bags. Will we make it?

That is barely just barely enough time. If your flight is delayed at all you won't have enough time to get your bags to Hawaiian on-time to check them.

I have a 55min connection between two different United Airlines flights (UA357 from SEA to LAX arriving at 9:30pm, then UA1542 from LAX to MCO leaving at 10:28pm). Is this enough time to get from one flight to the next?

Yes, that should be plenty of time. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. All United gates at LAX are connected inside security.

  • SFO to LAX to Heathrow connection

I am flying American from SFO to LAX arriving at Terminal 4 at 2:22 pm tomorrow. I need to connect to my American (British Airways) flight at 4:10 pm out of International. Will I have enough time - do I have to get my luggage and re-check in at the terminal?? Or can I check my luggage through to Heathrow form SFO?

If you purchased your tickets together your bags will automatically be transferred to British Airways and you should be issued both boarding passes in SFO. All you have to do is walk from T4 to the International Terminal and go through security. They are building a secure area walkway from T4 to the International Terminal but it isn't finished yet.

Yes my tickets are on the same itinerary. Thank you SO much for taking the time to answer my question! This is very helpful and reassuring, now I don't have to jam everything into a carry-on for a one-week trip! You rock!

i am taking vergin america first arrive in LAX in terminal 3 at 8:05 am , and i have a connecting flight in terminal B depart at 9:40am . will that be enough time for me to get my two checked baggage and connect to the next flight? thank y'all so much

Yes, that should be enough time, assuming your first flight is on-time. It doesn't leave much to spare if you are delayed though as most check-in counters in the International Terminal close an hour before the flight.

  • Arriving by United, then travelling by southwest
    Feb 3, 2015

Hi. I am travelling by United airlines from Honlulu to LAX and arriving at 5 Am. I then need to catch the next flight at 7:20 AM by southwest. I will need to collect the baggage and then drop it off at southwest. I will check in online for southwest. but bagge will still need to be collected and dropped. Will that be enough time to go from one terminal to the other and make the connection.

I think that will be barely enough time. The fastest way between T7 and T1 is to walk straight across.

I will be arriving at LAX on Southwest (Term 1) and will have approximately 1.45 hours to get to Terminal 4, obtain my new tickets for outbound flight, and get though security before my flight departs. Will I have time?

You will be very hurried and it depends on your Southwest flight arriving on-time.

Thank you! I booked my flight to LAX from Southwest and then my outbound flight from LAX was booked on Orbitz. Do you know if I will have to gather my baggage at baggage claim after arriving at LAX on Southwest and then get over to Term 4 get my tickets and check my bags again with the new airline? Or is there any type of 'check though" to avoid this? Does this change your opinion any on whether I would have enough time to catch my departing flight?

Southwest does not check bags through to any other airline. You can check in online for your American flight from Terminal 4 before you depart on your Southwest flight. However, you will still have to collect your bags from Terminal 1 and take them to Terminal 4 and check them at the counter. It is still a very difficult connection.

  • Arriving Southwest; Departing United

Hello - need a consult please. With no checked bags and boarding passes in hand, plus we can walk reasonably fast can we make a 40 minute connection between where ever Southwest lands and United departs? How much time to hoof it? Does this involve leaving and re-entering security?

It's not realistically possible. You have to go through security again in T7. Under ideal circumstances it may be possible. But I wouldn't bank on it.

I am very nervous about my connection at LAX. I arrive on Virgin Australia at 6.60 AM (TBIT) and need to catch a Dalta connection to Boston at 9.15 AM from Terminal 5. What are my chances of making this, if flights are on schedule? Also How would I get to T5 (if I have check in luggage)? Many thanks in advance for your advice!

Sorry. Arrival time should read 6.30 AM.

Yes that should be plenty of time. Just walk from the TBIT to T5

    Many thanks....much appreciated indeed.

Hi there, I'm arriving NZ2 AKL/LAX arriving 2pm, departing NZ2 LAX/LHR 4pm. Staff travel ticket so will have to clear customs and security. Can I make this connection?

Yes. That should be enough time.

SW flight arrives at 3:30 and virgin flight departs at 4:45. I will not have any checked bags. Is this enough time between flights?

Yes, if you check in online for your Virgin America flight and your first flight is on-time you should have enough time. It will take about 10 minutes to walk from T1 to T3.

I have a 35 min layover from LAX to Sacramento. Is that even enough time?! Please help

What airline or airlines are you flying? Where are you flying from? I need more information to answer your question.

From Las Vegas to LAX for a 35 min layover to Sacramento

    Delta

Yes, that should be enough time. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both in Terminal 5.

Thank you so so much! What a relief. I have never been to LAX
