  • Arrive Delta Terminal 5 depart International 1 Sydney

I arrive at 8:40 pm from PDX and depart to Sydney at 10:10 pm .is that enough time to go from terminal 5 to International 1

There is no "International 1" It is the International Terminal or TBIT. If your tickets were purchased together that should be enough time. if you purchased two separate tickets you will have to transfer your baggage yourself and will have to hurry to the International Terminal to get there before the checked baggage cutoff.

  • Moving luggage from domestic baggage claim to intl check-in

I will be arriving domestically on American and need to claim my luggage to check it for an international flight. I will have extra luggage with me. Is it possible to take a luggage cart from the baggage claim area to the international check-in desk? Thanks!

What airport? What airline are you flying on the second flight?

I fly into LAX, I believe at terminal 4. My international flight is China Southern. They are on separate tickets so I don't think AA will check it all the way.

OK. If you can find luggage carts in the T4 baggage claim, you can take them to the international terminal, but you may have trouble finding one. You may just want to purchase an inexpensive foldable luggage cart and pack it in your checked baggage if you're bringing a lot of baggage.

    Thank you for your help!

I arrive at LAX at 10.30am on Air New Zealand. Can I safely connect to a United flight at 1.20 pm to Washington DC?

Yes, that should be plenty of time, especially if you are purchasing tickets together on one reservation.

  • Purchasing Separate Tix SFO-LAX, LAX-GYN Brazil. Save $600- bad idea?

I'm a mom traveling alone with my 3 year old trying to save money on a last minute trip next week. Thinking of buying separate tix from SFO to LAX then connecting from LAX to GYN Brazil. This saves $600 but how much trouble will it be to recheck bags & go thru security on a Tuesday morning with a kid? Would be arriving at LAX United Terminal 7 going to Delta Terminal 5. Bad idea?

It's not that much trouble, those terminals are pretty close to each other, but you need to leave at least 2.5 hours between flights.

  • Coming from India and Connecting to San Jose

I am reaching LAX on a Sunday at 11.15 AM by Cathay Pacific from Hong Kong in Terminal B. Same Airlines has issued ticket to San José by American Airlines at 13.15 Hrs. Cathay and AA have confirmed 2 hours is sufficient. How difficult is luggage transfer? How far are the two terminals to walk. We are a family of Four with two grown up children. Is 2 hours sufficient?

That should be enough time. You will arrive in the International Terminal, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then follow signs for connecting passengers, re-check your bags at the AA transfer desk, then exit the building and walk to the right (with the flow of traffic), the next building you arrive at will be Terminal 4 where you will depart. Go through security and to your departure gate.

Thank you so much for your instant response.. It is such a big help.. Grateful to you.. God bless you...

  • Australia to LAX - LAX to Vancouver (return)

Hi there! Just wondering if 4hrs is enough time to transfer, Am traveling from Australia to LAX (arrive 1415 terminal B) and then heading from LAX to Vancouver (depart 1645 terminal 2). The return flight has less than 3hrs to transfer -arrive LAX 1915 -depart 2200. Should i book a later flight?

also - both flights have been bought on a single ticket. Does this mean I wont have to pass through custom before my connecting flight? Will my baggage also be transferred automatically?

What airline are you flying from Australia? If you purchase all tickets together you will not have to claim your baggage or go through Customs in LAX on the Vancouver-LAX-Australia route. You will have to go through customs and claim your baggage in LAX on the Australia-LAX-Vancouver route, regardless of airline or ticket status.

Goimg to Fiji. Will be arriving on a domestic flight and will have to pick up luggage and recheck at International terminal. Should I get a cart and walk from domestic terminal to international with 2 large luggage bags plus carry-ons or take a shuttle? Six hour layover.

Whatever's easiest for you. You have plenty of time. if you arrive in Terminal 3 or 4 I'd definitely walk.

Thank you for this forum! I'm leaving LAX to Copenhagen at 8:30pm. I will first fly from Denver to LAX and have not purchased this leg of the trip yet. If my first flight arrives at LAX at 3pm, is that enough time to get my check-in bag, walk over to International Terminal, and check into my CPH flight? Your advice is much appreciated, Thank you again!

Yes, that would be plenty of time.

  • Connecting flight question for Qantas and Air Canada...

We will be arriving from Brisbane on Qantas at 6.25am on Sunday morning. We will have checked baggage. Will we have enough time to catch an 8.30am flight with Air Canada to Toronto or should we book a later flight? If so, how much later? Also, do we need to clear immigration at LAX or do we do that in Toronto? We have 2 separate tickets. Also, is it possible for baggage to go through to Quebec or do we collect it at LAX? Thanks in advance

Yes, in LAX you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, and go through US Customs. 2 hours is not enough time if you are buying separate tickets as you will also have to transfer from the International Terminal to Terminal 2 with your baggage, which would take awhile.

Thanks heaps for that. Do you think 3 hours would be enough time if we caught a 9.30am flight or would a 10.40am flight be better? Thanks again

    9:30 should be OK.

  • AA to WN - no bags
    Apr 3, 2015

I will be arriving from LIH on AA at 629 am without any checked bags and only my briefcase. I need to connect to a WN flight at 725 am. What is the best way and will I make it?

Without checked bags that would barely be possible assuming the first flight is on-time. You need to RUN across the center of the airport from T4 to the other side, then go right to T1. You also need to check in online for your Southwest flight before you leave Kauai and hope that security lines at T1 are short (they usually aren't). I would try to change to a later Southwest flight if possible.

THANK YOU! You are so kind to reply so quickly! Wish me luck!

  • Connecting flights with two different airlines

I am landing at LAX at 6:23 at terminal 3 then have a flight out at 8:00 to Denver from the same terminal. If I have 1 checked bag will this be enough time to make my flight? Also how far is check-in for Frontier from terminal 3 and baggage claim from when I land to check my bag on the other flight?

Terminal 3 is pretty small, baggage claim is on the lower level and ticketing is on the upper level. You will probably have enough time if your first flight is on-time but it doesn't leave much time for delays.

  • Terminal 4 to 7

I have 4 hour layover flying in on American (Term #4) & out via United (Term #7) to Hawaii. Do I have to exit airport & go back through security? I'll have 1 checked bag & 1 carry on. Will I need to pick up bag & check it again? How much time do I need to allow for this transfer between terminals?

Did you buy your tickets together or separately? If separately and checking a bag you need to leave at least 2 hours between your flights.

  • Hong long it takes from Terminal B to 1 reconnect flight

I never being to LAX airport, with 2 different tickets. I am a senior but able to walk

Leave at least 3 hours between flights if you have checked bags. You will have to carry your bags with you to Terminal 1 as Southwest does not have interline agreements with any other airline. Without checked bags 2 hours should be enough, especially if you check in online before your first flight.

  • how long to clear immigration?
    Apr 1, 2015

Hi I'm planning a flight to Washington from Brisbane (Australia). I will need to clear immigration at LA. How long should I allow to clear immigration and then get to a different terminal (?) to catch a flight to Washington (Dulles). Just don't want to cut it too close. thanks for advice

If you're booking two separate tickets, leave 3 hours. If on a single tickets, 2 hours is sufficient.
