  • Enough time to check in on next flight?
    Sep 24, 2013
I will be arriving at LAX from Vancouver, @8:40pm( flying Air Canada) at T2, my next flight departs from TBIT @12:05am (5mins pass midnight). 1) do I have enough time to do passport check, get luggage, go through custom, go to TBIT, re-check in, passport check/immigration, and go through security?

You will not have to go through immigration or customs. You will pre-clear US immigration in Vancouver. What airline are you flying out of the TBIT? Were your tickets bought on one reservation?

My flight from TBIT is with Cathay pacific. The tickets are bought seperately, therefore I'm stressing because having to do all the above to board a plane again.

You should have plenty of time since you will just have to claim your bags once you get to LAX and take them to the TBIT. Your connection shouldn't take more than an hour or so.

    Appreciate your help ZAP!

Do I still need to go through customs after I have collected my bag?

No, you will do that in Vancouver too.

  • going thru customs at Terminal 5 / Delta Airlines
    Sep 22, 2013
My son and his new bride at fliying in from Belize 1/11/14 Delta flight 658, arrving at 1:30 PM. They are then booked on flight 4834 at 5 pm to LAS. Is this enough time to clea customs, etc. And how exactly will they clear customs in LAX at Terminal 5?

They go through immigration in T5, then claim their bags, then re-check them, then go upstairs and back through security in the same terminal. They should have plenty of time.

On 9/25 I must go from T1 to Air France for Paris. Will Air France still be at T2 or will it be at TBIT?

If your Air France flight is on the A380 it will be from the TBIT otherwise it will be in T2. If you post your Air France flight number I can help you.

  • Term 2 to Term 6
    Sep 16, 2013
What is the fastest/best way to get from Term 2 to Term 6? I have 2.5 hours to get one from one to the other before my connecting flight leaves.

The fastest way is to walk straight across the parking garages in the middle of the terminals on the ground level. However, you have enough time that you could also take the terminal shuttle bus that runs on the lower level.

  • Term 1 to Term 3
    Sep 16, 2013
How long is the walk from Term 1 to Term 3? Can you take a luggage cart?

It's about 10-15 minutes. Yes, you should be able to take a luggage cart.

  • Enough time?
    Sep 16, 2013
I will be flying from Santa Barbara to LAX, arriving at 12:44 pm on united Express. My flight to D.C. leaves on United at1:14 pm. This leaves very little time to connect. How close are these planes & should I be able to take an earlier one from Santa Barbara?

The planes will be very close together. You will arrive in Terminal 8 and depart from Terminal 6 or 7 (likely 7). All United gates at LAX are connected beyond security and are a maximum 15 minute walk between planes. United will probably charge you extra to fly on an earlier flight to LAX unless your flight has already posted a delay.

  • Access between T6 & T8
    Sep 16, 2013
Arriving in terminal 8 - departing from terminal 6, can I walk through to terminal 6 without having to go through security?

Unfortunately you need to exit T8 and walk to the left, past T7 & to T6, where you will need to go through security check again.

That is 100% INCORRECT. Terminals 8 and 6 are connected beyond security. frsep, stop posting false information.

ZAP, Thank you for clarifying. I assume that the walk through is well marked with signs? Thanks again for your help.

Yes, the signs just say "gates 60-69" or something like that, not "Terminal 6"

  • Gate 8 to 1
    Sep 12, 2013
Hi I am landing at gate 8 and departing 1 and 1/2 hours later from gate 1. Will I have enough time if I have to check in for the 2nd flight. I will be taking carry ons so do not need to check luggage. What is the quickest way to get from gate 8 to one? Is it faster to walk from terminal 8 over to terminal 7 then across to 1? Thanks

The fastest way is to walk across the middle of the airport (there are walkways). You should have enough time if your first flight is on-time and you hurry.

I have 1 1/2 hours between flights in terminal 1 and & do i have enough time to make it

  • Do we have enough time from term 7 to 2
    Sep 12, 2013
We're flying into LA arriving at terminal 7. Quick turnaround to Beijing at terminal 2. Is 2 hrs enough time to make it without stress?

Do you have checked bags? If so were both tickets bought on one reservation? If your bags are checked through to Beijing and your first flight is on-time you should have enough time.

  • Arv Term 7 - Leaving at Terminal 2
    Sep 12, 2013
is 2 hrs enough time to get from terminal 7 to terminal 2?

  • is 1 hour enough time from terminal 3 to terminal 4
    Sep 11, 2013
I will be taking two separate airlines and not checking any bags, I will only have my one carry on. My virgin america flight lands at 8:40 in terminal 3 and my American Eagle flight leaves at 9:40 out of terminal 4. Is one hour enough time? Can I walk to terminal 4 or do I need to take a shuttle. Do I have to go through Security again?

Yes, you can walk between the terminals, in fact you'll probably want to run! Yes, you will have to go through security again in T4. Make sure to check-in for your American Eagle flight before you leave (either online and print out a boarding pass or on a mobile device/with the AA app), as you will be past the check-in cutoff by the time you get to T4.

Additionally, once you get to T4 and through security, you will have to take a shuttle bus from the main part of T4 to the American Eagle satellite terminal.

Thanks, and 1 hour is enough time to do all this? How long will it take to run? and how long is the shuttle to american eagle satellite terminal?

Running between them will take maybe 10-15 minutes. Security shouldn't be too bad because you will be getting there at a pretty dead time. The shuttle will probably take another 15 minutes.

  • TBIT to Terminal 7
    Sep 8, 2013
How long does it take to walk from TBIT to Terminal 7?

    15-20 minutes door-to-door

  • Terminal one, baggage claim and then to TBIT
    Sep 11, 2013
I would appreciate advice: I fly into Term. 1 on SW Air. Must go to baggage claim, then go check in at TBIT for Cathay Air. I have three hours. It sounds like I should take the A Shuttle. Do I have plenty of time?? THX

Yes, that should be plenty of time. You can take the shuttle on the lower level or it's about a 20 minute walk.

    Thank you, ZAP!!!

  • Terminal 1 to 8
    Sep 4, 2013
I have 47 minutes to connect to from terminal 1 to terminal 8. Is this possible? Can I walk or do I need to take a shuttle? Thank you!

Maybe, if your first flight is on-time and you run and you have no checked bags. Southwest won't transfer your bags to United Express, so if you have checked bags, you'll have to claim them and take them to T7 (not enough time to do that). You can walk, but it's a bit of a difficult walk across the center of the airport terminals. You will also need to check in for your united express flight online or on your mobile device before you leave on your first flight. You will likely be past the check-in cutoff by the time you get to T7/T8.

both flights are on united. I was surprised when the united guy said I'd be landing at terminal 1. Do you think that's wrong?

Yes, that is wrong. United does not use Terminal 1 at LAX. All United and United Express operated flights operate from Terminals 6,7, and 8. United doesn't even have any codeshare partners that use Terminal 1.
