computer systems down at Customs BorderMay 19, 201300Why does the Customs Border Patrol have unreliable computer systems and have no backup? I connected through LAX last week and almost missed my connecting flight because CBP computers went down and Customs held the passengers in a hallway and refused to process most passengers. The Customs computer systems are mission critical and need a hot failover backup system so that passengers can be processed without interruption. My taxes should be better used to help travelers get through LAX faster, not wasteful government spending.travelerposted on Sun, May 19

luggage cartsMay 8, 201310My wife and daughter are flying into LAX with our grandchildren, ages 4 and 5 months. They are carrying 2 suitcases, 2 cosmetic bags, 2 carseats, and a double stroller. If it's a Skywest United Express flight it will still be going from United's terminals - In this case it would actually leave from Terminal 8 but you'd go through security in Terminal 7. changing terminals for connecting flightApr 10, 201310I am looking at a flight from LAX to HNL. We would arrive on Alaska Airline and need to get to Terminal 4 for AA. It is a connecting flight and our luggage would be transferred. Layover time is 1hr 45mins on a Monday morning (10AM.) Is this doable? I understand there is a shuttle for terminal transfers, would you suggest that or should we walk? We would just have carry-on totes. 12 hr lay over--baggage questionSep 28, 201210On my way to South America, I have a 12-hr gap in LA. I arrive 10 am and leave 10 pm on a flight to Bogota via Hollywood. Does anyone know whether my bag will be automatically transferred to the Hollywood flight? if not, will I be able to check in my bag for the hollywood flight 10 or so hours before it leaves? Therefore, I suggest you open both www.ifly.com/lax and /fll - then click on "Terminal Map" under QUICK LINKS and scroll down to the detailed text for airlines and connections. Some airlines do not transfer bags to a different airline's connecting flight - contact your airlines to make sure. If they do not transfer, you need to claim your bags on arrival, then re-check them in at the connecting terminal's airline counter.
