  • transit time sufficient?
    Feb 29, 2016
Hi, I am looking at booking a flight for my 17yrs old daughter from Raleigh to Sydney on american airlines for both legs of the route. the first flight arrives at terminal 6 at 10.05pm and the second flight departs from terminal 4 at 10.50. htis is only 45 mins transit. Is this enough time for her to make it? assuming she can check her bags the whole way through, does she still need to go through security again. I have also read something about a new tunnel connection that might help? thanks for any help you can provide.

She will not have to go through security. There is a tunnel connecting terminals 4, 5, and 6 inside security. She can make this connection as long as her flight from Raleigh is on-time.

  • Customs advice
    Feb 27, 2016
My husband is arriving tomorrow afternoon via AA (British Airways) in terminal B mid afternoon.. He's not a seasoned traveler and is nervous about where/how to proceed to clear customs. Any assistance I may pass on would be helpful.

Where to go to go through US Immigration and Customs will be quite obvious as literally everyone on his plane will be going there.

  • 3.5 hours enough time to transfer flights
    Feb 26, 2016
We will be coming into LAX from YVR on an american airlines flight and taking Al Nippon to Tokyo then to BKK. Our flight arrives in LAX at 9am and our next flight leaves at 12:35pm. These two flights were booked separately. Is this enough time to get through customs and security?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Vancouver. All you have to do is go to the AA baggage claim in Terminal 4, claim your bags, and take them to the ANA check-in desk in the International Terminal and go through security. You should have plenty of time. There is no US Customs when leaving the US.

Great! Thank you so much for your quick response!

What airlines are you on? Where is the first flight from?

Delta airlines. The first flight is from SFO. Thanks for getting back :)

Yes, that should be enough time. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

  • Connecting from Toronto to Brisbane, Australia
    Feb 12, 2016
I am arriving from Toronto and connecting to Australia (Brisbane then Cairns) on flights ticketed entirely through Qantas but the flight from Toronto to LAX is operated by Air Canada. Travelling to US destinations we clear US Customs/Immigration in Toronto before we leave. Air Canada has advised me that my luggage will be checked straight through to my final destination. I have 2 hours 17 minutes between flights. Do I simply proceed from my arrival gate to the Tom Bradley terminal (it sounds like I will need to go through security again, is that true?) and is there enough time? Does LAX offer services for hire such as a travel escort who would meet us at the arrival gate and take us to our departure gate, or at least as far as security? I am a nervous traveller and would feel better if I knew what to expect and what to look for. Thanks for any and all help!

Yes, all you have to do in LAX is go from Terminal 2 to the International Terminal, through security, and to your departure gate. You have plenty of time. There is no such escort service unless you are handicapped.

  • tight schedule
    Feb 10, 2016
arriving at 2pm on thursday the 25th of Feb from Korea. What chance does a foreign national have of making a 330pm flight on Southwest?

With checked baggage that would be impossible. Without checked baggage you would have a small chance.

  • Do I Have Enough Time to Make International Flight
    Feb 8, 2016
I am looking to fly to Bangkok from LAX, but I live in Tampa, FL and would take a different airline to get to LAX on separate tickets. My possible itinerary is as follows: Fly out of Tampa at 5:30 pm (cant leave any sooner) with Southwest and arrive at LAX at 10:05 pm. Then fly out of LAX at 11:55 pm to Bangkok on Korean Air. Since I would be buying these tickets separately my questions are 1) Do I have to recheck my baggage and go back through security and 2) Is almost 2 hours enough time if (1) is a yes? Thanks.

Third Question what would be a sufficient amount of time to get this done if 2 hours is not enough? Thanks.

Yes, you would have to claim your bags from southwest, take them to the International Terminal, re-check them with Korean, and then go through security. I wouldn't say that this is is completely impossible in the time allotted, but it's very very difficult.

I would want 3 hours to make that connection.

Thanks for your help. Also considering a flight that arrives in LAX at 9:30 am and leaves for Bangkok at 12:40 pm under the same conditions as my post. Should that be enough time even though this itinerary is in the late morning/early afternoon instead of late evening?

Yes, I think that would be easier.

  • International Terminal Check In
    Feb 4, 2016
Flying out of Tom Bradley Terminal. Can anyone help with check in process? Are you required to get your bag screened before checking in or can you go directly to the check in counter

You go directly to the check-in counter. What airline are you flying?

  • Travel Help!
    Feb 2, 2016
Hi everyone, I land at LAX at 5:25 am in terminal 2. I may have to claim my bags and check them back in and travel to terminal 4 and do the whole check in spiel again. My second flight leaves at 6:25 am, do I have a chance of making it?

No, I would say you have close to zero chance of making it. Also, where are you coming from that arrives in Terminal 2 at 5:25 AM?

  • Immigration processing arrival times
    Feb 2, 2016
Hi can anyone comment on the immigration processing times in Feb for International flight coming into terminal B , and up todate advice welcome i heard they fitted self processing desks which produce a print out which you give to the customs/immigration person

It really depends on the time of day you are arriving, but the Kiosks do speed things up.

I will be arriving in around 11am thanks for reply

It shouldn't be too crowded, that's later than most of the flights from Asia arrive but before most of the flights from Europe.

  • Enough Time? ORD to LAX to MEL
    Jan 29, 2016
Our United flight is scheduled to arrive at LAX Terminal 7 at 9:50pm on Saturday and our Quantas flight to MEL is scheduled to leave at 10:40pm. Is this enough time? I understand we'll have to go through security again too...

No, you won't have to go through security again. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both in Terminal 7/8. You have enough time.

    Thank you, ZAP!

You will go through US Immigration and Customs in Terminal 6.

  • Flight connection time.
    Jan 25, 2016
Hi, I'm flying AA from KOA (Hawaii) to LAX arriving at 23.17 and then catching the 23.55 AA flight to JFK. I only have 37 minutes to make the connection. Will this be enough time? Also, do I need to go through customs / collect baggage etc? - I'm British. Thank you.

Hawaii, California, and New York, are all part of the United States, so you don't have to go through customs or immigration. All you have to do at LAX is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time as long as your flight from Kona is on-time.

    Thank you
