I have a child arriving at LAX Terminal 1 and he must get to the Tom Bradley Building for an International flight. I cannot go with him and really would like to know the process of getting from Terminal 1 to Tom Bradley. He is not disable and has exceeded the age for airline assistance. I will make sure he has at least 2 hours of layover time in LAX. I have asked the originating flight S.W. to assist and get her baggage to the next airline but they will not do so since he is flying with a different airline to Australia. I am a worried mom and would appreciate it someonecould perhaps give us the steps needed to get from Terminal 1 to Tom Bradley. Thankyou.

I see no problem. When he/she arrives, follow signs down to Arrivals, then exit terminal 1. Thereafter he/she will catch the LAX bus Route A on lower arrival level island (in front of each terminal), under sign 'LAX shuttle airline connection', which runs every 12-15 mins. His next stops will be Terminals 2, 3 and then TBIT (the international terminal) - 3 stops - 7 minutes. At TBIT (Tom Bradley Terminal) he/she will have to pass security check, before proceeding to gates. TBIT has the following gates: 101-106 & 119-123 on opposite sides. He/she can simply follow signs. (tell your child that any airport employee will be happy to direct him if he/she needs assistance. He/she will be just fine!!

I will be arriving into LAX T3 on V Australia from BNE (international arrival) then connecting to YVR on Alaskan which also operates from T3. If my arriving and departing flights are in the same terminal do I have to perform the immigration procedures and collect & transfer luggage etc?

Yes, you do need to go through international arrivals process by going through passport control, picking up bags, going through customs clearance, and re-checking in your bags (a 30-45 min. procedure) before proceeding to your Alaska departing gate.

  • How to make a reservation for Skycap

We will fly from Narita/Tokyo to LAX-TBIT by JAL and take a connecting flight(Southwest) to SAT. Southwest's terminal is no.1 . Exceptionally, Southwest isn't allowed to use Baggage Drop Off service after clearing customs. We have a lot of baggage! Do we have to take a Shuttle bus with them by ourselves and recheck in? Is there Skycap service available there? If so, how can we make a reservation for Skycap service in advance? Thank you for your help!

How do I get from Terminal 4 to the Internatinal Terminal?

There is a secured connector between those two terminals. You can also exit T4 and walk over to the TBIT terminal - the first one to your left.

  • Which terminal for United and Lufthansa

Which terminal will a flight arrive from Frankfurt that is a United flight operated by Lufthansa?

You will either arrive at Terminal D (gates D1-12) or Terminal E (gates E1-24) - look at your ticket to see which gate you arrive at. Note also that on arrival you need to go through passport control, pick up your bags and go through customs clearance before you can exit your terminal.

  • Connecting from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2

If arriving in terminal 1 at 3:50 p.m. need to get bags and re check in and leave at terminal 2 at 6:10 p.m. - is there enough time?

Have you checked with your arriving airline if they would forward your bags to T2? Only if they don't will you have to re-check-in your bags. Without bags you would be able to walk from T1 to T2, while with bags you need to take the LAX bus Route A on lower arrival level island (in front of each terminal), under sign 'LAX shuttle airline connection', which runs every 12-15 mins, and takes at most 3 minutes to get there. Either way, you will have to go through security again at T2. No matter what option, you have plenty of time.

  • Walk T5 to T7

How long would it take to walk from Terminal 5 to Terminal 7. Are they connected so we would not have to go through TSA again?

T5, T6 & T7 are connected by an underground tunnel - At T5's arrival level follow signs to the escalator down to the tunnel. At T7 you need to pass security control again before proceeding to your departure gate. Estimate from gate to gate - half an hour.

We are arriving from Canada at terminal 2 and connecting to Tahiti at TBIT what are our options to get to the other terminal? How long will it take? Will we have to go through security again? Will AC transfer our baggage?

    1. Unless you have gone through US customs clearance by participating Canadian airport, you need to go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance and re-check-in bag (the baggage tags should indicate layover and final destination) - Count on 30-45 mins. If both of your flights are by the same airline your bags will automatically be transferred; if a different airline, contact your first airline to make sure they transfer, as not all airlines do (if not you need to take your bag and re-check it in at the connecting airline's terminal. 2. TBIT is in the curve of a U-shaped terminal complex with terminals 4-8 to the right and 3-1 to the left. You can now transfer by foot or post-security connection from TBIT to either T3 or T4. All other terminals need to be accessed from TBIT by the LAX bus Route A on lower arrival level island (in front of each terminal), under sign 'LAX shuttle airline connection', which runs every 12-15 mins. Starting from TBIT, the next stops are at T4 through T8, it then goes on to the opposite side with T1, T2, T3 and back to TBIT. Count on 2.5 minutes for each stop. When entering your connecting terminal you need to go through security again before proceeding to your gate. To find out which Terminal & gate you depart from, look at your ticket: T2 has gates 21-39; T3 30-39; T4 42-49; T5 40-69; T6 60-69; T7 70-77; T8 80-88.

I will be travelling on Qatar airways from Washington Dallas to Doha. I will be reaching at washington on a domestic flight at gate D10. My Doha flight is from gate A15. I have only 1 hr as transit time. Is this time enough to reach A15? Do I again need to go through secuity check again? Also how can I reach from D10 to A15. . (Aerotrain or shuttle is needed) ? If anyone has any experience with the same please share.

how time it will take to go from domestic terminal to tom bradely terminal

That depends on the airline and terminal. The Bradley terminal ("TBIT") is in the curve of the U-shaped terminal complex; T4-T8 are to the right, T3-T1 to the left. These are your connecting options: 1. Fom T3 or T4 to TBIT: (a) A secure connection is now available between the Tom Bradley and Terminals 3 & 4 at each side of it. (b) Outside of T3 or T4 you can walk to TBIT; (c) Arriving Qantas passengers at T4 will be picked up by special shuttle to TBIT. (d) T4 to T3: On arrival go down to baggage claim, step outside & take elevator/ecalator back up to departure level. From there walk to your left about 200 yards, past TBIT, to T3. 2. Terminals 5, 6 & 7 are connected by tunnel, and Terminal 7 has a walkway to Satellite/T8 and Terminal 6. 3. LAX's terminals are arranged in a U-shape, served by the LAX bus Route A on lower arrival level island (in front of each terminal), under sign 'LAX shuttle airline connection', which runs every 12-15 mins. Starting from TBIT, the next stops are at T4 through T8, it then goes on to the opposite side with T1, T2, T3 and back to TBIT. Count on 3 minutes for each stop.

Landing at Tom Bradley ( British airways) at 13.00. Seperate booking to fly to Hawaii with AA at 16.30, is this enough time to transfer? By bus or walk ? thanks

    1. On arrival at Tom Bradley you need to go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance and re-check-in bag (the tag should indicate layover and final destination Airport Codes)- note, however, that you need to contact British Airways to find out if they will transfer your bags automatically to your AA departure flight at Terminal 4 (not all airlines do that). If they don't - you need to take your bag along and check it in at Terminal 4 before proceeding to your gate. Count on 30-45 mins for international arrivals procedures. Terminal 4 is to the right of Bradley - a secured connection is available on foot. Otherwise, you would need to exit Bradley and take the LAX bus Route A on lower arrival level island in front of each terminal, under sign 'LAX shuttle airline connection', which runs every 12-15 mins, in which case you would have to go through security check again at Terminal 4. Either way, you have plenty of time.

    Thanks very much for that

I am taking AA out of LAX and checking bag. It's my first time. Do I go to ticket window first and then what do I do with my bag and where do I find the security line to go through.

Piece of cake! Checking in is at Terminal 4, which has gates 42-49. (Your ticket will indicate gate number. When you get in go straight to the ticket counter, pay and get your ticket, then deposit your bag next to the counter where it will be weighed (each bag incurs a charge, plus overweight charges (over 50 lbs). Your bag will get tagged, and passed on to get to the plane's hull. You can proceed from there to the departure level and to the gate area - signs will guide you. Make sure you arrive at the gate area half an hour prior to the plane's scheduled departure. Good luck!

I will be coming from Maui on AA at 5:45am and connecting to Frontier at 6:30 am will I have enough time to make my connection?

Exit your arrivals terminal 4 and take the LAX bus Route A (on lower arrival level island in front of each terminal, under sign 'LAX shuttle airline connection'), which runs every 12-15 mins, to Terminal 6, which takes about 5 mins. At T6 you need to go through security check again and to your gate (T6 has gates 60-67). Hurry if your arriving plane is late!

How to go from terminal 5 to terminal 2

If you arrive from an international flight you need to first go through passport security, collect your bags, go through customs check and then re-check-in your properly tagged bags before you can exit the terminal. The LAX bus Route A on lower arrival level island in front of each terminal, under sign 'LAX shuttle airline connection', runs every 12-15 mins. Your next stop will be T6, T7, T8, T1 and T2 - 5 stops taking about 15 mins. At T2 (with gates 21-39) you need to go through security check, then proceed to your gates - 20 mins estimated.
