Meadows Field Airport BFL serves California's Kern County, the city of Bakersfield and some of San Joaquin Valley.
The Airport is located on Skyway Drive, approximately seven miles north of the Bakersfield. Highway 99 and 7th Standard Road provide the most direct access to the passenger terminal. Bakersfield airport is situated at the southern end of the San Joaquin Valley which stretches east to the Sierra Nevada Mountains and south to the Mojave Desert.
With two runways, and an estimated 213,000 passengers a year, the Airport is served by United & US Airways offering direct flights to major US cities, with connections around of the globe, and by a number of commuter airlines. In addition, Allegiant Air, which offers package deals that include rooms, rental cars & shows, offers flights to Las Vegas.

The new two-level passenger terminal at Meadows Field Airport is open from 4:30 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. daily.
Departing passengers: On entry, you find voice-to-text flight schedules and ticket counters; after checking in you can proceed to the main lobby, go through security check to the passenger waiting area and proceed to your gates.
Arriving passengers will proceed to the baggage claim area, which has a gift shop, and rental car desks.

Parking options at Meadows Field Airport: If you need to pick up a passenger at the Airport, use the short-term parking lot near the terminal entrance, which offers the first 30 minutess free.  Long-term parking is available within walking distance. To get from Meadows Field Airport to your destination, you can rent a car, take a taxi or a bus:  Rental car desks for Avis, Budget, Hertz & National are in the passenger terminal. Taxis can be pre-arranged or called at arrival: American Cab (661-398-9000), Yellow Cab (661-325-5041).  A bus serves the surrounding areas and Bakersfield, where passengers can transfer to other buses.
