  • 3h20h layover
    Jun 8, 2016
In Aug. 10, I plan to have a 3h20m layover in Miami. Should arrive from Frankfurt at 14h50m and should depart to El Salvador at 1810h. I will have checked baggage and I am not American. Do I have enough time?

Forgot to mention I would be using different airlines (arrive with Lufthansa, depart with Avianca)

It's possible, especially if everything is on the same reservation.

  • Layover time (Domestic AA - Internation Qatar) 1 hour 10 min
    May 16, 2016
Will 1 hour 10 minutes be enough to get the connecting from Domestic flight (AA) to International flight (Qatar) on 28-May. First time to Miami, so need help.

Yes, that should be enough time. if both tickets are on the same reservation you just have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

  • Afraid to miss connecting flight b/c of immigration lines
    Apr 22, 2016
Coming in to MIA from Paris. 2+ hours layover before flight to MCO. Is this enough time? We are only bringing carry-ons.

With carry-ons only you should have enough time if both tickets are on the same reservation.

They are! We will have to go through the visitors line though.

I am traveling from Guatemala to Washington DC. I will arrive in Miami at 7PM, my connection to Washington is at 9:20. Is 2:20 hrs enough to catch my connection

Yes, that should be just enough time assuming everything goes smoothly.

  • 1 hour layover!
    Apr 11, 2016
Hi, I'm getting into miami intern at 8.45pm and connecting flight to JFK at 9.50pm, both on american airlines - carry on luggage only, will this be enough? thanks

Where are you flying into Miami from?

  • 5 hour layover
    Apr 11, 2016
I have a 5 hour layover coming in from the Caribbean and going to Connecticut. I was hoping to leave the airport for lunch. Would I have enough time?

I really don't think so, especially considering that MIA isn't exactly in the greatest neighborhood and traffic in Miami is pretty bad.

  • Layover 24 hours
    Apr 5, 2016
In June i will have a layover of 24 hours. Is it anyway possible to leave the Airport inbetween to visit the city? Thanks for your answers

Yes, you can. If you are arriving off an international flight you will already be outside security when you clear customs.

  • From Portugal to Miami and then to Caracas
    Mar 17, 2016
Hi, I have a Flight with TAP from Portugal arriving in Miami at 15:10 and then a different flight with Santa Barbara Airlines from Miami to Caracas at 16:30. Will this be too short? As we are exiting the US should be easier I belive but will hate to miss the flight to Caracas. Any comments?

This is completely impossible and the fact that you are exiting the US doesn't make anything easier. Absolutely do not book this.

  • overnight layover - hotel?
    Feb 24, 2016
Family of 4 Flying ORD to CUN. Arriving 7:15pm into MIA, departing next morning 7:10am for CUN. Any reasonably priced hotels with free shuttle service - maybe close to dinner options. I'm thinking Luggage is checked through to CUN so will carry-on overnight stuff. Thanks for ideas!

Your baggage likely won't be able to be checked through to Cancun due to the overnight connection.

thank you for pointing that out - you prompted me to called AA and they confirmed that because the connection is within 12 hours, they will hold and transfer the bags to the next flight. Our flight is just 10 minutes under!!!! But, I will definitely confirm at the airport before leaving for the evening.

Coming from Punta Cana. Is a 2 and 1/2 hour layover enough time to go thru customs and security? Will have carry on luggage

Yes, with carry-on only that should be plenty of time.

  • Layover 1.40 min in Miami
    Jul 3, 2016
Hi, My family with 2 kids travelling from Delhi to London and from London to Miami and Miami to Costa Rica. In Miami they have 1.40 hour layover to catch another flight to Costa Rica. All AA flights. Would like to know if they have to pass to US immegration? Pick baggage and submit again? and is this time ok to take another flight? Please help with your valuable response.

Yes, in Miami you will have to go through US Immigration, customs, and security. Since you are on an International to International connection through MIA you will not have to claim your bags. You have barely enough time if everything goes smoothly. If you are Indian or Costa Rican citizens you will need US Transit Visas.

They have US Tourist Visa. Thanks for information. I am having bad experience with Houston US immegration, they have more then 40 counters and open counters are only 5-7 at a time which takes long time for immigration. Is it the same case in Miami?

    Miami is pretty bad too.

I am travelling from Jamaica to Miami on the first flight and will arrive at 8:47am my second flight is at 9:38am. Is it at all possible to catch the flight. And oh I am not travelling with a luggage. Also both flights are AA.

My second flight is to Atlanta

  • International to Domestic transit at MIA
    Jan 13, 2016
I am planning to fly in to MIA from Curacao, and flying out to Los Angeles. Both flights are American. I only have 2:15 hours for the transit. Do you think it is enough? Is is safe to have 3 hours? I have a checked luggage. Thanks!

That is barely enough time if everything goes smoothly. if you can choose 3 hours instead, I would do that.

Hi Zap, Thank you for your advice! (I see in your comment on 12/29, you have responded 2 hours was enough for Ecuador-MIA-Orlando transit. Is this because 12/25 is not busy day? So do you think 2 hours transit time is too risky for the regular weekday...?)

Yeah, it was also because there are more options if he were to miss MIA-Orlando (UIO-MIA arrives early in the day and worst case you can drive or take a bus to Orlando) also, 2.5 hrs vs. 2 hrs 15 minutes is a meaningful difference.

  • TAM to AA - Worried about short interval
    Jan 2, 2015
Hi, I'm flying from Brazil (GRU) to Miami (mia) by TAM. The arrival time will be 4:40 am (sunday morning) and I have another to Cancun by AA departing 7:10am. Considering I'll have baggage to claim and imigration. I'm very worried to lose the AA flight. TAM terminal J and American terminal D, right ? I found that I should do my check in at AA at least 45 min before the flight. This interval is enough ? Thanks

You should have enough time if your TAM flight is on-time.

Thank you for your time Zap

  • Connection AA Boston-MIA-Bogota. 1 hr long enough?
    Nov 29, 2015
Hi! i'm taking a flight with AA on decemner 27th from boston to bogota with connection in miami with a 1hr long layover... would that be long enough? Thanks in advance!

Yes, as long as your flight from Boston is on-time that is enough time. All you have to do in Miami on your way to Bogota is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. All AA gates in Miami are connected inside security.

  • Connection Time
    Nov 29, 2015
Hi, we will be arriving at MIA from an international flight departing from Quito - Ecuador on December 25th, and have 2 hours to make it to our connecting flight to Orlando. Since its Christmas Day and we have to re-check our baggage and go through customs, I was wondering if the 2 hours will be enough. If it helps, we arrive at MIA at 12.00 pm and our flight to Orlando leaves at 2.00 pm

2 hours should be enough time. Christmas Day itself is not a busy travel day.
