I have never been to MIA. I do not know how large the terminals are or how big the airport is. if I fly into MIA from AA and arrive at 619 do you think if I run I can make my flight at 709 (I understand they begin boarding before that time). my dad bought my flight to go see him and I am worried I will miss my connecting flight. side note- I am a Marine and a good runner :)

We are novice international travelers. We fly Atkanta to Miami and have one hour to catch flight to Curacao. I've heard so many horror stories about AA thru Miami. What are our chances?

All you have to do in Miami on your way to Curacao is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You should have plenty of time.

we are flying into Miami and have a 56 minutes layover going to Barbados. is that enough time to make connecting flight?

If the first flight is domestic and both flights are on AA, that is enough time.

I have tourist USA visa and I have a connecting flight back to London at 20.45 with BA. I'll be getting to MIA from Punta Cana at 19.20 with just a hand luggage. Did I leave myself enough time to catch the London flight?

With just hand luggage and an evening arrival you have a chance - it's still a very very difficult connection.

i am flying Cancun to NYC via MIA. Both flights are through American airline, I have an 1h 40m in between, is this enough time? Also will have luggage.

It's technically a legal connection, but I really recommend at least 2 hours for International to domestic connections through Miami.

  • Arrival from IST, Transit to San Juan Puerto Rico

Dear All, I will be arriving to MIA from IST via Turkish Airlines at 19:10 PM. I checked its terminal J I would like to take American Airlines flight to San Juan SJU, 21:40. When I checked , it generally departs D48 Will there be enpugh time for taking my bag and then take SJU flight? Or shall I wait 07 am flight Thanks in advance

With checked bags and on two separate reservations I don't think you would have enough time. I would wait for the morning flight.

JetBlue has a 2335 flight from FLL to SJU if you are willing to change airports. They also have a 0600 vs. the 0700 on AA so you would get to SJU earlier if you few JetBlue from SJU even if you waited until morning.

Thank you for your reply and advise. FLL seems 26,8 miles away and still may have the same risk for 23:35 flight It seems its better to wait for 07 am flight:(

Due to equipment problems, Delta has but us on a Delta flight arriving H3 to connect to Suriname G2 to Aruba. How do I get from H to G within 60 minutes? Not at all familiar with Miami.

You will have to exit the secure area, walk to G and go back through security. This will be difficult.

Thanks, to update, There was no line no waiting at G, a 10 minute walk today at most.

Hi, I'm arriving to MIA at 4:00 pm ( AA) and leaving for Colombia at 6:40 (AA)Is it enough time to make the transit? I dont know this airport and I dont want to miss my flight nor get lost in the airport! Thanks!

yes, that should be enough time. Where are you flying to Miami from?

From Paris. I have a transit in Madrid.

In that case it will be a little more difficult but should still be possible.

Hmm and what about this: 1)leaving from Paris and arriving at Madrid at 10:15AM (IBERIA) 2┬░then leaving from Madrid and arriving to Miami at 3:10pm (IBERIA). And 3) finally leaving Miami (AMERICAN AIRLINES)at 6:40 pm ( 3h30 layover) Would it be enough time? Itwo different airline in Miami, what about the time to get to the departire gate? OMG this is so scary...

Yes, I think that would be possible.

I am flying with American Airline from Kingston KIN to Los Angeles LAX and transit through Miami. There is only a 2-hour layover in Miami. the flight will be arriving LA at 1906. I am wondering if I will have enough time to make it to my Miami-LA connecting flight with a UK passport? I have another flight to catch in LA at 2345. Do you think I will be able to make it? Thanks

It's just enough time if everything goes smoothly in Miami.

5 of us are coming into Miami with connection to Washington DC with a 2.5 hour layover(early evening). Is that enough time to get through security & customs for all of us (US citizens)?

Where are you flying to Miami from? What airlines are you flying?

where does key west, fl flight arrive at mia airport, how do I get to american airlines flight to Charlotte, NC. Key west flight is am eagle flight. How long does it take to change terminals? any stairs? Am over 65 years old.

You should not have to go up any stairs. All AA gates in Miami are connected inside security. It shouldn't take you more than 15 minutes to get from your arrival gate to your departure gate. If you have a lot of trouble getting around you should maybe request wheelchair assistance by calling AA.

  • Time needed for layover

Hi! I am trying to choose a flight from LAX, connecting through Miami, to Grand Cayman. One option has a two hour layover and the other has a four hour layover. It has been many years since I've traveled internationally, so I don't remember the procedure for customs, etc. I would appreciate your thoughts on whether the two hour layover will be sufficient. We'll be traveling in early November, mid-week, and we are four U.S. citizens and one Australia citizen. We will be checking bags and traveling on AA. On the way to Grand Cayman, do we go through customs in both Miami and GCM? Will we need to re-check our bags in Miami? Thanks in advance! :)

There is no US Customs when leaving the US. All you have to do in Miami is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. 2 hours is enough time.

I am arriving on AA from Phila. Will one hour be enough to make my connection to an AA flight to Panama City? I will have checked baggage.

Yes, that is enough time if the first flight is on-time. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.
