We will be traveling on American (single booking) on the above route, arriving MIA 16.50 and departing 19.10. We have ESTAs under Visa Waiver.
Is this enough time and will I need to reclaim bags and recheck in or can I check them right through from CUN ?
Hey guys,
I've seen mixed information and experience on this.

I have a connection in MIA on a trip from Barcelona to Lima (Peru). They are on the same booking with American. I have 2 hours 5 minutes. Will i need to hurry?
Do i need to get my baggage for sure? And re-check it? I've seen some comments saying they were checked through to final destination (not US).

THanks a lot.
Your bags will be checked through to Lima if both flights are on American and you won't have to claim them in Miami. You should have just enough time.
Hi - I have 1 hour and 35 mins on a flight in from Barranquilla and a connection onwards to Indianapolis. Is the time enough time to clear passport control and customs. My flight arrives gate D1 and the connection leaves D60
That should be just enough time if everything goes smoothly.
I'm thinking about booking a flight from Orlando to London which has a 1hr20 layover in MIA on the way - is this enough time to make it through? I wouldn't have thought an airline would offer it if it wasn't doable but I have no experience with MIA so I have no idea what to expect.
Yes, that is enough time if both flights are on the same reservation. If both flights are on American all you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.
Hello everyone. Im going from Colombia to Sydney. The 1st part of my itinerary is Bogota - Miami arriving at 11:35, then Miami - LA departing at 14:10. Do I have enough time to go through costumes with checked luggage? Travelling with AA, both flights. Thanks.
Yes, in Miami you have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and to your departure gate. You should have enough time.
Thank you.
We are flying from Rome to Miami on TAP (Portugal) Airlines arriving in Miami at 2:30. We have booked AA separately leaving Miami at 5:25. Will we have enough time to make this connection? We will have checked in luggage to retrieve and check in via AA.
That is just enough time if everything goes smoothly.
Flying in from San Juan PR to MIA connecting to PHX all on AA. What would be a minimum amount of time to clear customs and do you have to go outside security and clear TSA security again once through customs?
There is no US Customs when flying from Puerto Rico to the mainland US. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.
We will have been on a cruise to other foreign ports. No customs even in that case? Or customs when disembarking from the ship?
Hi! I'm flying from Belize to DCA connecting in Miami, all one reservation on American Airlines. We arrive in Miami at 3:49pm on a Saturday and depart at 5:30pm. Provided we don't check any bags (and are American citizens), should this be enough time to clear customs?
With no checked bags you should have enough time. It would be more difficult with checked bags.
Can't find information on minimum connecting time domestic/international - will have to get bags from Frontier and recheck on American since 2 separate tickets....
I would want at least 3 hours, especially when considering that Frontier flights are frequently delayed.
I am arriving from Bolivia at 4:15 pm with American Airlines. I then need to take a new flight to Cancun at 7:45pm. Both flights are with American Airlines but on a different ticket so since we would need to take the luggage, go through customs and then check in our luggage again, would there be enough time to make the transfer?
That is just enough time if everything goes smoothly.
