I'm flying to Rome on Alitala which departs from terminal H but I want to go to AE Centurion Lounge in terminal D. Will I have to go through security twice?

    Yes, you will.

  • Transiting Miami to Nassau

Hi, I am landing in Miami, via Hong Kong - LAX connecting flights. I understand I have to clear customs etc in Miami. I am then on a flight to Nassau. I have 2 hours 30 mins between flights in Miami. Is this enough time to collect luggage, clear and re check in? Thanks!

No, you do not have to go through customs in Miami. You will go through US Immigration, customs, and security when you enter the US at LAX. In Miami all you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. There is no US Customs when leaving the US. You will go through Bahamanian Immigration and customs in Nassau. You have enough time.

Hi, I'm arriving in Miami at 4.05pm with Alitalia and I have the AA flight to San Jose CR at 6.15pm. I travel only with hand luggage. It's enough time? thank you in advance

With only hand luggage you might barely have enough time. It's a very difficult connection. You will have to go through US Immigration and Customs, change terminals, and go through security.

Arriving at gate D15, departing gate D35 at 10am. How long does it take to walk with a carry on?

If the first flight is domestic it shouldn't take more than 15 minutes.

Yes, it is domestic. Thank you!

  • MIA concourse D to J and back

Hi. I'm arriving on AA from LHR at 17:05, Concourse D. I would like to have my Global Entry interview in Concourse J, and I'm thinking that 18:45 would be realistic (I'm a US citizen). I would then like to get back to Concourse D for a flight to Baltimore at 20:28. Do I have enough time to clear passport, customs, get to J, have my interview and get back to D? Thanks!

Without already having Global Entry I think that would be very difficult.

I am flying from SCL to MIA to MXP, with a 13-hour layover in MIA (4:30AM to 5:30PM). Both on AA. I do NOT want my bags checked all the way through-- I want to grab them when I land in MIA and leave the airport for a while. Is this possible, or am I forced to check them all the way through? How do I make sure I can get them in MIA? (Note this is an International-to-International connection). (Sorry, I posted this on another forum and didn't get a response)

You can ask the agent in Santiago if that is possible. Sorry I don't know for sure - it's an unusual request.

Yes, every time you fly international you must pick up your bags and re-check them so you can take them and check them again later without a problem

  • 2hr 33min Enough?
    Sep 1, 2016
I have to switch from CLT-MIA to an International AA flight by rechecking bags. Will that be enough time?

Also will 2hr 15min work to switch to Alitalia in CDG?

If both flights are on AA you don't have to do anything with your bags. That will be a difficult connection in Paris.

We are flying from belize to doha via miami. the first leg is with AA and the second one is with qatar. the layover at miami is 2:50 min. do you think it is enough time in the evening to make the connection, considering the immigration, baggage pick up and re-checkin of the bags?

Yes, that should be enough time.

We are flying from London to New Orleaans via Miami. Do we need to collect our bags and go through customs?

Yes, in Miami you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate.

Hi, I am flying from Madrid to Miami with Iberia arriving at 19:55 and I would like to book a flight to Vegas with frontier airline which departs at 21:20. I have one check-in bag. will I have enough time? do I have to pick my luggage and recheck it in?

That would not be reasonably possible. Yes, you will have to claim your baggage take it through customs, and re-check it with Frontier in G. You do not realistically have enough time for that connection. Plan on spending the night in Miami.

You might have a chance to make the connection if you had carry on luggage, not checked in bags.

  • International connection via Miami

Hi, I will be flying from Paris CDG to Kingston via Miami with AA. Do you know: (1) if I need to collect my checked in luggage in Miami; and (2) roughly how much time customs/etc... will take at Miami airrport? Thank you!

You do not have to claim your bags and re-check them in Miami since you are on an International to International connection on AA. You need at least 2 hours for your connection as you still need to go through US Immigration, customs, and security.

Thank you so much for your helpful reply!

  • Arriving MIA from GRU (Brazil)
    Aug 24, 2016
Hi, I'll arrive MIA 6pm on saturday and my connection flight for LAS is 8:17pm, flying AA. Will I have enough time? I'll be with 1 checked baggage and 1 handbag. Is there a "fast (or quick) connect" line on immigration? Thanks

No, there are no expedited lines for passengers with connections as most passengers on your flight will have connections. You have enough time.

    Thanks a lot.

Will 1hour 25 minutes be enough for this connection with carry-on and TSA precheck/Global Entry (to USA) on American Airline?

All you will do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time.

How long does it take to walk from gate D3 to gate D47. I have 1 hour to make my connecting flight. Both flights are American Airlines. Thank you!

As long as the first flight is on-time and domestic that should be enough time.
