Hi, I'm travelling from Orlando to Sydney via MIA and LAX... layover in MIA is 42 minutes (airline is the same). Do you think this would be long enough to make connection?
Thanks so much in advance!
That's enough time - all you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, but it leaves no time to spare.
I'm travelling from Brisbane to Miami via Los Angeles. I arrive at Miami at 4.08pm on AA and want to book a flight Miami-Havana at 6.35pm also with AA but the tickets won't be on the same booking. Is that enough time to make the flight?
Yes, that's enough time. You will have cleared US Immigration and Customs at LAX so all you have to do in Miami is claim and re-check your bags. You might even be able to get the Qantas agent in Brisbane to check your bags through to Havana by showing your confirmation to HAV - (you'll still have to claim your bags to go through US Customs in LAX, but then you won't have to do anything with your bags in Miami).
Hi, first trip to San Juan. We fly Air Canada to MIA landing 11:30am. I need to get to AA for 2:00 departure. I have never been to Miami and its looks very complicated. Could anyone help walk me through the procedure of claiming bags and getting to the AA departure. I am worried if I make a mistake we might miss our flight. Thank you so much
You will arrive in Terminal J, claim your bags, then follow the walkways to Terminal D, re-check your bags with American and go through security. You should have enough time.
Thank you.
If I arrive from Jamaica to Miami at 17:24 with America airlines and then have a connecting flight to Madrid also with America airlines at 19:15 do I have enough time? If I didn't what would happen?
That is barely enough time if everything goes smoothly. if you miss your connection you will probably be rebooked on the Madrid flight the next day as it's unlikely there are any later departures to Europe that evening.
Hi, I Arrive at MIA at 4:38am on an AA flight from Quito. Will I be able to make a 7am AA flight to Dallas? There's another flight to Dallas at 9am but that will only give me a one hour layover to catch the last American eagle flight of the day to my hometown. Trying to decide on the best option, knowing delays can always happen. Any advice? - The international and domestic AA tickets were purchased separately, Thanks
The 7 AM flight should be no problem.
Have booked AA flight Orlando-Mia-Punta Cana
We delibertaley booked the early morning MCO-MIA segment to have plenty of time to change gates for the PUJ flight
AA have just emailed they have changed our flights, and now we only have 40 minutes to change gates in MIA
Worried this is not enough time, and even if we get on PUJ flight, worried not enough time for our luggage to get on the PUJ flight with us
You can call AA to reject the schedule change and either ask for a refund or different flights. I agree that 40 minutes, while theoretically possible, is too risky.
Hi, I'm flying with AA from Curacao to British Columbia, with connecting flights in Miami and then Dallas. I arrive in Miami at 10:15 and depart for Dallas at 12:15. A couple of questions (1) do I collect my luggage first and then go thru US customs or will it go all the way through because I'm travelling with AA the entire trip? (2) will 2 hours be enough time to get from arrival to departing gates? Thank you!
Yes, in Miami you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate. You have enough time if everything goes smoothly.
We are flying AA (both flights) from Boston to Miami, with a 1.5 hour layover and then on to St Lucia. As there are no flights after this until the next day, I want to be sure we have enough time. We usually fly in the day before but this time we are not.

I am hoping that this is plenty of time but I know in the past we have had to go clear across the airport with Tram, etc. on our return flights and it took a long time to get to our connecting gate.

Do we have to claim our luggage from the first flight or does it go directly to our connecting flight. It seems from some of the posts that the terminals are closer together. We flew two years ago through Miami to Mexico and prior to Turks but don't ever remember the gates being that close.
Yes, that is enough time. You will not have to go all the way across the airport. All you have to do on your way to St. Lucia is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.
Hi, I'm getting into MIA at 8.46am mar 20th (flight # 958) from ATL and connecting flight to BGI at 9:44am (flight # 1089)-both on american airlines. Will this be enough time? Would it be faster to request special assistance if I am pregnant to minimize stress of connection? If I miss flight to BGI, will I placed on next available flight free of charge?
All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. If you do miss your connection because the first flight is delayed, you will be put on the next flight to Bridgetown, but it's not until 6:25 PM.
I already bought a ticket to go to Miami and will be arriving at 17.00hs... the last flight to Chicago is at 20.20hs. Both flights would be American Airlines. Can I make it? is it too risky?
First time going abroad but I will probably study what to do there beforehand.
Yes, that is possible.
