I will be arriving to MIA from Lima, Peru via LATAM on January 11, 2017 at 2:30PM, my connecting flight is to ORD via AA at 4:50 PM. Will it be enough time to do all checking considering that I hold a non-immigrant visa, and will have checked luggage? Thanks

If both flights are on the same reservation that should be just enough time.

Tomas we fly AA from Cancun via Miami to Aruba. Done ned to pic up bags in Miami or can i check in My bag the whole way and go straight to My Aruba flight in Miami.

Since you are on an International to International connection through Miami all on American, you do not have to claim your bags in Miami. You will have to go through US Immigration, customs, and security.

I will leave with TAP at 3.30pm and flying with different airlines but checkin already done at 5pm with Interjet to Cancun. Do I have enough time?

Realistically no, that isn't enough time, especially if you have checked bags. You will have to go through US Immigration, customs, and security in Miami.

  • 43 minute layover

My family & I will be arriving at MIA from St Thomas USVI at 8:35 pm & then scheduled to depart for Minneapolis at 9:18 pm, allowing only a 43 minute layover. Both flights are American Airlines - Is this even feasible?

Yes, that is possible. Flights from USVI are considered domestic so all you have to do in Miami is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate both in Terminal D.

Thank you for your prompt response, ZAP.! You've been a big help as we've never traveled thru this airport before.

Hi Need help need to connect gate G11 to D60 and have 45 min between flight whats the best way to connect

That's not enough time. You'll have to exit security and go back through to get from G to D.

I made it in 20 min , had a bad queue at security gate 3 in terminal d so I skipped and went to security 2 and just took 2 min

Im flying in from MCO with 45 min connecting time to an international flight. I'm carrying Carey on only. Connecting flight is with same airline. I land gate D45 and connecting flight is d53...is 45 mins enough time?

Yes, that is enough time. It shouldn't take 5 minutes to get between your gates in Miami.

Hi, I will be flying from Toronto to Miami and then connect from Miami to Caracas. I have 1h 19minutes to catch that connection, is it enough time?

Yes, that is enough time. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. All you have to do in Miami on your way to Caracas is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Yes, that is enough time. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. There is no US Customs when leaving the US.

All flight with AA in 1 PNR. Itinerary changed by AA and I will arrived at Miami from London at 18:45, and flight to Santiago is 20:04. AA customer service confirmed it is feasible, while I am a bit worried. May I have your opinion here? Do I need to clear the custom? and re-check baggage? (I have valid US visa and Chile visa). Thank you!

You don't have to claim and re-check your bags since it's international to International on AA, but you do have to go through US Immigration, customs, and Security. You have just enough time if everything goes perfectly.

Hi! Me and my family are travelling to Dominican Republic from London via Miami. With American Airlines (arriving to North Terminal). Our layover time is just 2:15h - I am first time travelling through US - please advise what to expect - do I need to go through the US customs, then reclaim my baggage, then re-check in again and go through the customs again? From MIA to Dominican I have the same American Airlines. Thanks!

You will have to go through US Immigration, customs, and security but won't have to claim and re-check your bags. You have just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

Oh good. Thanks so much ZAP!

Hi! Me and my family are traveling to curaƧao. Our flight is set to land in Miami at 605p and our other flight home is set to depart from Miami to Nashville at 724. Is that enough time to go through customs? Or should I try to change my times?

This is your flight from Curacao->Miami->Nashville? no, that's not enough time. You need a bare minimum of 90 minutes, with 2 hours recommended to go through US Immigration and Customs and then connect to a domestic flight in Miami.

Thank you so much! I changed our flight now we have over three hours to make our connecting flight home.

I am travelling from Madrid to Managua with 2hs and 15 mins to connect flights in Miami Airport - Do I need an ESTA authorization just for connecting flights? - If so, is there enough time 2 hs and 15 mins to clear immigration, baggage pick up and customs? - Do I have to pick up my luggage if both flights are American Airlines? Thank you very much

Yes, you need ESTA. Yes, you should have enough time. If both flights are on American you won't have to claim and re-check your bags, just go through US Immigration, customs, and security.
