Hi iim arriving from Cayman on AA connecting to a BA flight to London - I have 90 mins is that enough time
No, that is not enough time. Cayman Airways flights are on virtually the opposite side of the airport from BA. You will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, take your bags across the airport, re-check them with BA, and go through security.
Sorry, I didn't realize you were flying AA FROM the Cayman Islands. In that case you do have a chance but it is still a VERY difficult connection.
I'm flying from Pittsburgh (PIT) to MIA, then from MIA out of the country to Costa Rica (SJO) on May 27. I have yet to book my flight, but there are layovers ranging from 1 hr 20 mins to 3-4 hrs. I've never flown out of the country before; what's the minimum time my layover should be in order to get through customs etc? Is 1 hr & 20 mins too short? Not sure how big the airport is
There is no US Customs when leaving the US. If both flights are on American and on the same reservation then 1 hr 20 mins is possible. All you have to do in Miami on the way to Costa Rica is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.
Thanks for the info! I have some more specific gate information: I'll be arriving to "AA 4632, E75-Embraer RJ-175" and flying back out from "AA 1153 738-Boeing 737" 1 hour and 20 minutes later. I'm not sure how the gates work or if they are close; can you tell me if 1 hour and 20 minutes is still possible or very likely? Thanks!
Will arrive from Madrid and depart to Colombia all with AA, is a 2 hour and 21m connection time sufficient?
Yes, that is enough time if everything goes smoothly.
Thanks very much
Hi i am presently in the same situation as you were, am flying from madrid to colombia Cali with AA but only have 1hr 45mins connection time. Is that enough? Also were your bags transferred automatically? could you give me a rundown an your process i,e immigration. security and what terminal and gate?? i am worried as its my first time flying internationally. Thank you
Hi Shino, the flight is in in July so I'll tell you then haha. I know someone who did the same route in January, they were told when checking the bags in that it may or may not be checked.
Only advice I have for generally transferring with a short time is pay to sit near the door if you can and walk as fast as you can but keeping calm once you disembark!
Is this enough time for this connection? Is it possible after passport and security checks to transfer to the AA terminal/gate without having to go through further security checks?
You are outside security after you go through US Immigration and Customs. You then have to re-check your bags at the re-check desk and go through security to get to your departure gate. You should have enough time.
Im planning to travel from havana to Providencials (Turks and Caicos), on American airlines For some odd reason its almost 200 USD cheaper to book each flight separately (Havana-Miami) thrn (Miami-Providencials) which means ill have a 2:40 minutes transit in Miami, my questions are - if i book both tickets separately will i be able to checking for the second flight from havana? -if not this means ill have to go through passport control, take my luggage and recheckin? - would 2hrs 40 min be enough for such a long process? Thanks in advance for the advice
You may or may not be able to check in for the second flight in Havana. Regardless of whether you are able to check in for it or not, you will have to go through US Immigration and Customs in Miami. You have just enough time if everything goes smoothly.
