Arrive 5.25am from Brazil on AA with 1.40 hrs to connect to AA domestic flight to Boston. Enough time?

With that early arrival that should be enough time.

I'm flying in from Belize to Miami, landing at 15.04, then making a connecting flight to Orlando at 17.00. Is that enough time to clear immigration/customs?

Yes, that should be just about enough time.

    Thank you!

Hello. I'm flying on the 1st January 2016, frome Grenade (West indies) to Cartagena (Colombia) with a transit in Miami. The first company is American Airlines then Avianca. I have 2.5 hours connection. Is that enough to fetch my luggage and go again through the whole process? And how much liquids and medicine am I allowed to have with me in my personal luggage? Thank you for your answer!

I'm flying from Lima to Miami at 15:05, and have 1:55 to catch my flight to Moscow. Only hand luggage. Different airlines, but on the same ticket. Do you think I will make it?

That should be barely enough time.

Thank you, ZAP, normally there is a separate line for those, who are in a hurry, right? Last time I've been to Miami, I wasn't, but I've seen other escorted to another place, so they can make it for their flights. Just that the alternatives are either way more expensive, or are very long, am thinking whether to risk or not. I know the airport already, so won't be lost on the way, and normally am very quick in moving around , have been to US as well recently, so probably shouldn't be checked very hard.

I'm flying from London to Costa Rica with American Airlines. I need to change flights in Miami, and connection time is 1.30 minutes. Will I have enough time? Do I need to go through US Customs? Do I need to collect my luggage and check it again?

That is barely enough time. You will have to go through US Immigration, Customs, and Security but since you are on an International to International connection all on American, you should not have to claim your baggage.

You do need to pick your bags at the luggage carrousel and pass it through customs. Then just drop it at the AA band and RUN to security to make the screening process and run to your gate. As soon as you get out of the plane and reach the inmigration line ask the employees that organice the lines to go straight to the inmigration officer or if you are from a USA TRUSTED COUNTRY go to your proper line inmediatly. MIA is a very large airport and usually the 130 hr. is from touchdown to takeoff so you are gonna waste about 30 minutes. Greetings from Costa Rica.

Since you are on an International to International connection you do NOT have to claim your bags. The only US Airports to have this program are Miami, Dallas, and Houston.

Good to know! Probably it's a new thing because I travel from Costa Rica to Shanghai entering USA thru Miami and I had to take my bags to customs and to the AA band after, but it was back in 2012. One question: sjo costa rica to miami to lisboa is the same process? It's AA to mia and TAP to Lisboa. Best regards.

Since AA and TAP aren't alliance partners and use different terminals you'll probably have to claid your bags on that trip. Also, since AA does not fly MIA-shanghai nonstop that means you have a domestic flight in between - that's why you have to claim you bags in Miami on those trips.

Yes. It was Sjo mia lax shanghai. Thanks a lot.

    Thank you very much! :)

I'm flying from Brussels to Santiago Chile on American Airlines 10 days before christmas. My first stop is Philadelphia, 3 hours, so enough time to do immigration and check my bags. Next I'm flying to Miami and my flight's scheduled to arrive a sharp 49 minutes before the scheduled departure to Santiago! (min. connecting time Domestic->International is 45m, but still..) Indeed, I'm asking if that'll be enough time to catch the flight myself and if my luggage is likely to join me? Thanks!

Yes, as long as your flight from Philadelphia is on-time that should be enough time.

Hi. We are arriving from Orlando into Miami then connecting onto Cancun. We have 59 mins between flights. I have been assured by my Travel agent that this is enough - is that right?

Yes, as long as both flights are on American all you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate in Miami. That is enough time.

I will be arriving MIA (International flight) to take another flight to LGA. Would 4 hours for connecting time in MIA be enough time for pick up luggage and check in it ffor the second flight? I would be arriving MIA around 7AM

Yes, 4 hours should be plenty of time.

Hello, I am a Canadian citizen travelling to Guatamala, the flight I am looking at has a one hour 24 minute layover in Miami between Dallas and Guatamala, flights all with AA. Is this a possible connection? Would I have to pick up my bag and go through international customs or security while in Miami?

There is no International customs or security when going from a domestic flight to an International flight. All you have to do in Miami on your way to Guatemala is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You should have plenty of time.

Im flying into MIA internationally and have a 2 hour layover until my flight to boston. Is this enough to recheck my bag and go through customs with an ESA dog?

That should be just about enough time.

Hi, We are considering flying from Montreal YUL to Key West EYW in August. I understand that this connection is considered domestic to domestic. Will we make our flight with an hour connection? Will we be able to walk from gate to gate without lenghty security checkpoint?

Yes, you will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Montreal. All you have to do in Miami is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, no security required.

  • MAD-MIA-LPB 1.55 hr enough ?

Hello. I am thinking about buying a ticket from Brussels to Bolivia through MAD and MIA and am worried about the connection in MIA for the part MAD-MIA-LPB. All would be on a same ticket bought through AA (MAD-MIA being operated by Iberia). First, the only connecting time really cheap is 1.55 hrs. I guess it's kind of thight, since we are european citizens but won't be able to use the kiosk (for ESTA less than two years?). The trip would be mid-july, so I suppose high season, and the connection would be in the evening (20:25 to 22:20). We've done it in the past, same route, but during easter season and 3hr connection and we got time to spare in the airport. So what do you think ? Should I go for it ? The other thing is about collecting luggage, going through customs and recheck luggage. Last time we did this route, with thicket bought through AA, coming in MIA with Iberia and leaving with AA, I surprisingly did NOT have to collect my luggage. My girlfriend, who flew in earlier, also on AA ticket, but with flight coming in from LHR and operated by BA (still leaving MIA for LPB with AA) had to collect and recheck the luggage. Since everyone I know has to collect and recheck, and that I always had to do it on my rare other US connections, I was wondering if you knew the reason why, on that particular occasion/route/ticket we did not have to collect them ? And of course, if it's going to happen again on this thight two hours MIA connection in july. Thank you very much !

I think 1 hr 55 minutes in the evening would be enough time. Miami does have ITI (International to International) baggage as long as all tickets ar eon the same reservation, so you shouldn't have to claim your bags if both flights are on AA. But as you know, things are always changing and they don't exactly communicate well.

  • Connection time LIM-MIA-CDG on two separate tickets

I will be flying LIM-MIA on a ticket, and MIA-CDG on another. Would 3 hours for connecting time in MIA be enough time? Or shall I allow for more time? I would be arriving around 3:30 PM.

That would be just about enough time if everything goes perfectly.
