Hi, Flight from London Heathrow arrives into Miami at 1740, with onward flight to San Diego leaving at 1959. Both flights operated by American and i have no checked luggage. Is this enough time?

Yes, that should be enough time if the first flight is on-time.

All flight with AA in 1 PNR. Itinerary changed by AA and I will arrived at Miami from London at 18:45, and flight to Santiago is 20:04. AA customer service confirmed it is feasible, while I am a bit worried. May I have your opinion here? Do I need to clear the custom? and re-check baggage? (I have valid US visa and Chile visa). Thank you!

You don't have to claim and re-check your bags since it's international to International on AA, but you do have to go through US Immigration, customs, and Security. You have just enough time if everything goes perfectly.

  • Connecting flight to Dominican Republic

Hi! Me and my family are travelling to Dominican Republic from London via Miami. With American Airlines (arriving to North Terminal). Our layover time is just 2:15h - I am first time travelling through US - please advise what to expect - do I need to go through the US customs, then reclaim my baggage, then re-check in again and go through the customs again? From MIA to Dominican I have the same American Airlines. Thanks!

You will have to go through US Immigration, customs, and security but won't have to claim and re-check your bags. You have just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

Oh good. Thanks so much ZAP!

Travelling from Jamaica...arrive in Miami at 2:15pm. connection flight to Grenada is 4:05pm. Is that enough time?

That's barely enough time if everything is on the same reservation and goes smoothly.

Hi! Me and my family are traveling to curaƧao. Our flight is set to land in Miami at 605p and our other flight home is set to depart from Miami to Nashville at 724. Is that enough time to go through customs? Or should I try to change my times?

This is your flight from Curacao->Miami->Nashville? no, that's not enough time. You need a bare minimum of 90 minutes, with 2 hours recommended to go through US Immigration and Customs and then connect to a domestic flight in Miami.

Thank you so much! I changed our flight now we have over three hours to make our connecting flight home.

My wife and I will be travelling MIA-YYZ on AC and we were wondering if we could commute between these 2 concourses without going through security checkpoints? We have a membership to the Delta Sky Club in Term H is why I'm asking. Thanks.

No, H and J are not connected inside security.

I'm sorry, yes, they are connected, I misread the map.

I am travelling from Madrid to Managua with 2hs and 15 mins to connect flights in Miami Airport - Do I need an ESTA authorization just for connecting flights? - If so, is there enough time 2 hs and 15 mins to clear immigration, baggage pick up and customs? - Do I have to pick up my luggage if both flights are American Airlines? Thank you very much

Yes, you need ESTA. Yes, you should have enough time. If both flights are on American you won't have to claim and re-check your bags, just go through US Immigration, customs, and security.

Arrival from DOH ti MIA at 16:55 with Qatar Airlines. Departure with American Airlines at 18:36 to MBJ (Jamaica). Do I need to go through Immigration and is it enough time. I have only hand luggage

Yes, you will have to go through US Immigration, Customs, and security. With no checked bags you have just enough time. This would be impossible with checked bags.

i have an international flight arriving in JFK , then flying from JFK to MIA through AA arriving at 2:27 pm , and i should catch another international flight to santa cruz bolivia on COPA at 5:10 pm .... is the connection time enough in miami?do i have to clear customs again?

There is no US Customs when leaving the US. That is just enough time if the flight from JFK is on-time. You will have to claim your bags from American, take them to Copa in the South Terminal, re-check them, and go through security.

I am arriving in Miami at 6.25am South Terminal (aerolineas argentinas), departing with american airlines to tampa at 9.20am. Is there enough time to clear immigration, baggage pick up and customs? Thanks a lot

That is just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

Arrival from FRA at 14:55 with Lufthansa. Departure with Copaair to PTY at 17:18h. Is that possible and will my one bag be checked through to PTY?

In Miami you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate. You have just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

Thank you, ZAP. I will give it a try

The fact that everything is in the South Terminal, where much fewer people are making connections than American's North Terminal, does help.

  • 2.26 minutes connection

Hi I am English and will be travelling from Guatemala City to Quito via Miami. The connection time is 2 hours 26 minutes and it is with two different airlines, is this enough time for me to go through immigration with my ESTA, claim by baggage and check it in again for the next flight? Thanks.

That should be enough time if the flight from Guatemala City is on-time. Actually, if both flights are on American and on the same reservation, you won't have to claim your bags since it's an international to international connection.

Hi, U.S. citizen flying from SXM to MIA arriving at 7:10 p.m. and connecting to Los Angeles at 9:49 p.m. Carry-on only, and it will be the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Thanks in advance.

Yes, that should be enough time.

  • Short connection time YYZ-MIA-BZE

I am booked on AA from YYZ-MIA-BZE. They just changed my flights, so the connection time is now only 1h13m. I will clear US Immigration in YYZ. Will I need to reclaim luggage, or will it be checked through to BZE? Do I need to go through security in MIA? Does this connection look ok? If it will be too tight, I should try to change the flight.

You don't need to go through security or do anything with your baggage in Miami on your way to Belize. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time.

Thanks, just one more question. In case of a small delay, do you know the minimum amount of time it takes AA to transfer luggage from one flight to the next in the same terminal?

You should be OK as long as you have 40-45 minutes.
