Hi. I'm arriving from Rio with LATAM, at Terminal J I think, and then connecting to the American Airline flight to Barbados, at Terminal D or E. I have over 4 hours for the connection, so I guess that's plenty of time.

I know that I have to go through immigration and pick up my bag, and then have to check in at the AA desk.

My questions are: how easy is it get from J to D/E ? And can I access other airline lounges (eg British in Term E) whilst I kill time ?
It's not too hard to get from J to D. There are signs to D/E. If you are Oneworld Emerald or above or traveling Business class you can access the American lounges in D, otherwise you would have to pay for lounge access.
Many thanks for the fast and helpful response
How far and how long?!
About 20 minutes, but you will have to go through security again in D.
I am flying in from San Jose, Costa Rica, on AA arriving at 12:24 p.m. on a Saturday. Can I make a 2:12 AA flight to LGA?

Thanks for any advice!
It's not impossible, but will be pretty difficult.
We arrive and depart from a gate at D but have 2_3 hours layover. Can we walk to a lounge at F or J without passing thru immigration etc? If so, which is better?
Where are you flying from and to? D is not connected to F or J inside security.
Hi, I'm traveling from LAX to MIA to POS (Trinidad) my flight from LAX is at 9am arriving at 4:57pm in Miami. My flight to POS is at 6:11pm that leaves me with a layover of 1hr 14 mins, do you think that is enough timer or connection or should I try to switch to an earlier flight? Also if I arrive from LAX at terminal E do I have to go back through security?
Sorry I meant if that was enough time for the connection, and also if I arrive from LAX to Miami at terminal E, if I would have to go through security to make my POS connecting flight.
Hello, I'll be traveling from BWI (Baltimore Washington) to Panama City, Panama with a short layover in Miami. Both flights are through American Airlines and are part of a connected flight. I only have approximately 52 minutes in between flights. Will I have difficulty making that transfer? Thank you!
That should be enough time. All you have to do in Miami on the way to Panama is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.
Hi there,
I would like to book a flight from SJO through MIA to SXM on AA, however they don't offer the two legs as a combined flight, there would be just over an hour in between flights. I am wondering if they do not offer them because you would have to go through customs in the US in order to pass through to fly to St Martin? Or can I stay in the same terminal arriving from Costa RIca and departing for St. Martin, thus an hour would be sufficient? Thank you!
Yes, you will have to go through US Immigration, customs, and security. That's why the connection is impossible.
Hi we will arrive on Austrian air at 3:15pm and then connect to Newark wit United at 5:40 pm, will we need to go thru security and if so will we able to use the lounges in J or F with our priority pass membership?
United flights depart from G, so you won't be able to use the Priority pass lounge. Yes, you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate.
I fly into Miami gate E-20 @ 11:18 from JAX and then have a Flight departing Gate D60 @ 12:15. Do I need to claim my bag and recheck it since the second flight is international? I don't think I will have time to do all that also will I have to go through immigration when leaving the country? Sorry for the silly questions
No, you don't have to do anything with your bags in Miami if both flights are on the same reservation. There is no US Immigration or Customs when leaving the US.
Hi there - we are transiting through Miami from Grenada on the way to London. We are due to arrive in Miami at 7.07pm (American Airlines) and the flight to London (BA) leaves at 8.40pm. Is this likely to be too tight? (We will have the benefit of Executive Club membership with BA and are prepared to beg our way through immigration and to collect our checked in bags!) Any thoughts/opinions/comments welcome.
An hour and forty minutes should be sufficient, but everything will depend on clearing customs and immigration. If you arrive on time, you should be okay as long as there aren't excessive lines. My experience has been that the busiest times are in the afternoon, so perhaps by early evening you should see less of a backup in Customs.
