Arrive MIA from Managua at 5:25 pm connecting flight to RDU departs at 9:45 pm. Flying American. Will I make connection? Is the international terminal a long way from terminal of my RDU flight? Thank you!

Yes, that is plenty of time. They are the same terminal. You will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate.

    Thank you!

So nervous, as I have only flown one other time before without connecting flights. Please advise.. We arrive from Charlotte in Miami at 9:01am and depart for ANU at 10:07am. Does that give us enough time for the connection? Checked luggage an issue with that connection time? TIA!

All you have to do in Miami is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time.

I will be arriving at MIA from LHR with AA on December 9th at 4.05pm. My connecting flight to Orlando will leave at 6.16pm, also with AA. Do you reckon I will make it?

Forgot to mention that I'm not a US citizen, but I have visited on the same ESTA earlier this year. How is the wait time at the kiosks compared to the 'normal route'?

The kiosks usually save some time. You should have just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

Hi, I am arriving from Doha on Qatar Airways to DFW (Terminal D) at 4:20pm and my onward travel is at 08pm on AA2299 on 21 Aug. The booking does not specify the arrival/departure terminal. So is the connection in the same terminal ?

SORRY ! MISTAKE IN THE QUERY PLEASE IGNORE

Hi, I am travelling from Orlando to Cozumel with a 59 minute connection time in Miami. Will this be enough time? do I need to collect bags & go through security again? Flying with AA. Thanks

Yes, that is enough time. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate on the way yo Cozumel. There is no US Customs when exiting the US.

This is my first time at MIA. I will be connecting to NY FROM AA to another AA flight. Do I have to claim baggage and go through security. How far is the departure lounge for the connection. Landing 6:50 and scheduled to leave MIA 9:50. Is that enough time for my connection? Thanks

Where are you flying into Miami from?

    St Kitts

Then yes, upon arrival in Miami you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate. You should have enough time.

So although I will be continuing on an Anerican Airline flight I have to reclaim my bags then recheck them?

Yes, you have to do that in order to go through US Customs. it is a federal law.

Ok. Thanks much. Just hope there is enough time.

  • Rio to Miami to Dublin connecting flight

Hey! I have a connecting flight that stops in Miami from Rio de janerio and then on to Dublin. Will I go through customs and immigration Brazil first? Because I only have a hour and 30 mins in miami

No, in Miami you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk (if they are tagged through to Dublin) and then go through security and to your departure gate. Also, there are no nonstop flights from Miami to Dublin - what airlines are you flying?

Hello we are travelling ti miami via orlando and then to cancun with same airline do we have to clear customs and can we go out of airport

SO you are flying ???-Orlando-Miami-Cancun? If so there is no US Customs when leaving the US. You can leave the airport in Miami if you want, but you have to go through security again when you return, so be prepared, it can take awhile. Also the Miami airport isn't really close to anything worth seeing.

First time fliers, headed to Rio from Toronto with a connection at MIA, all on AA. Arrive at MIA at 8:20pm and depart at 10:20pm. Do we have lots of time? Not sure if we have to go through security again or not.

Yes, that is plenty of time. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto so all you have to do in Miami is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

    Thanks!

I'm flying from Quito to Los Angeles with connecting flight in Miami. My flight from Quito gets to Miami at 7:20pm and Los Angeles flight is at 9:30pm. Is that enough time to collect my bag and go through security line? Both flights are AA.

You won't have to claim your bag since you are on an International to International connection all on AA. You do have to go through US Immigration, customs, and security. You should have just enough time.

I am flying from London on british airways arriving in Miami airport at 14:50. then i have a connecting flight to Caracas on SBA airlines at 17:00 same day. is that enough time to clear immigration, collect bags then check in for the next flight?

That will be very difficult since you will have to transfer your bags between airlines yourself.

Flying from Lima Peru on LAT arriving at 7:45 a.m. on Sunday. Will have to go through customs and immigration. I have a 10:10 a.m. flight to Chicago, will that be enough time? Do I have to leave security and go back through?

That should be barely enough time. Yes, once you go through customs and re-check your bags you will be outside security. You will have to go back through security in your departure terminal.

Coming from Portugal with TAP will arrive at Miami 03:10 PM terminal 1. After proceeding from Us Customs Passport Control and collect Bagage will get the AA flight to Cancun Schedule to 06:20 at terminal 3. According to my previous experiences Miami is quite busy and waiting time on line to Us Customs clearance too long. Once I will manage to obtain electronic chek-in, 3 hrs time between flights are enought ?? How in advance do I have to chek bagage at AA counter ???

You have just enough time if everything goes smoothly. You will have to have your bags checked with AA by 5:20.

Both Flights are in American Airlines, connection in Miami

I fly into Miami on Delta and my flight to Orlando is on American. Do I need to go to baggage claim to get my bag and go to departures to check in and go back through security?

Yes, you do. You'll want at least 2.5 hours between flights.
