Can anyone provide the "DOOR" number travelers would use to check in for a Delta Airlines flight to Cuba from MIA? I believe it is South Terminal (H gates) but would love to have a door # to provide for some clients. Maybe there is only one door for South Terminal? Trying to determine a good meeting spot for the group. Thanks for your time!
Actually heard back today from Miami Airport Customer Service with exactly the information I needed. Good to know this forum exists however.
Hello All, I am travelling to Memphi, TN from India. MY journey is via Mumbai -> Doha -> Miami -> Memphis. Till Miami i am travelling in Qatar airways and to Memphis in American Airlines. My questions is regarding baggage collection and CBP clearance. Do i have to collect my checked in bags in Miami? If so do i have to cross the CBP check point with the bags ? Also are there any paid/free wifi available in the airport ?
Yes, you will have to collect your bags in Miami to take them through US Customs, then you will re-check your bags at the re-check desk. Wifi at MIA is paid http://www.miami-airport.com/wi-fi.asp
Thanks You ZAP, I have seen in Dallas airport where i need to collect my baggage and place it again in another domestic transfer conveyer belt before going for CBP. so Miami is a bit different :)
Traveling from India to Miami and onwards to Atlanta with aged parents and 2months baby. How to manage
Do you have a specific question? Just leave at least 2 hours, preferably 3, and follow directions.
Thanks for the response.my query is that after landing at Miami I have to catch Atlanta flight.the transfer process may be explained.since I am not aware of the layout from international to domestic flight as they are different airlines i.e. Qatar and American airlines
You will arrive, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go to your departure terminal, through security and to your departure gate.
I am flying into Miami from the UK, and have a connection to San Juan. Both flights are AA and both seem to use Terminal D. I have a 3hr40min (17:50 x 21:30) connection time ... which should be OK. I have no issue with the times, but I would like advice on procedure. I understand / accept that I have to negotiate immigration and customs but what happens then? Am I still "airside" or do I have to go through security again? I understand that there is an AA recheck desk involved somewhere along the line, so again .. is this "airside" or "landside"? Thanks.
You will have to go through security again after you clear customs and re-check your bags. The re-check desk is right after you clear customs.
Zap, thanks for the answer ..... nothing is simple nowadays.... same at LHR .... I fly in (sterile) and have a controlled - and sterile - terminal transfer and am then deposited landside of security Ah well ... no pain no gain?
I am expecting a friend from Prague on a delta direct flight to Miami. As a Delta passenger will she have to go through Immigration check at Level 3 of Concourse H or J ? Will she have to retrieve baggage at H or J Concourse? Would like to know so that I can provide her with directions regarding where I can pick her up by car at Ground Transportation Level 1 which is the same level as Baggage
Your friend will go through US Immigration and Customs in New York. There are no nonstop flights from Prague to Miami.
Hi, I have family friends from Brazil traveling from Europe to San Paolo with flight over in Miami for 4 hours. Can they come out of the airport? If so, they have to pass immigration simply for tourist stamp or they need an esta? How would it work?
Yes, when they clear US Customs they will be outside security. However, they'll be unlikely to have more than 30 minutes to spare before they have to go back through security. If they are Brazilian citizens they need a US Transit Visa.
Hi, I am afraid I have made a mistake and need advice from an experience traveler.
I am leaving ATL (7:45 AM) and flying Delta to MIA (arriving 9:17). My next flight out of MIA was purchased through American Airlines so the tickets are not connected at all. I will be leaving on AA to Marsh Harbour Bahamas at 10:30 am. When I arrive in MIA will I have to go back through security? What will be the process for me? I will not have a bag with me, only bringing a personal item/purse. So bags are not an issue. I didn't even think about having to do this when I bought my tickets last week and am leaving on Wednesday. Can anyone offer advice?
Yes, you will have to go through security again in the North Terminal. You will have to hope your Delta flight is on-time and then RUN to the North Terminal to go through security. Try to check in for your AA flight online before you leave Atlanta.
Thank you. So I called American Airlines today and the CS agent told me that as long as I was not checking a bag that I would not have to go back through security. She said I would already be in the secured area so as long as I didn't have a bag to pick up then I would just be able to go to the next gate and get on my AA flight to the Bahamas. Do you think this is not the case? Thank you for replying!
Whoever told you that doesn't know what they are talking about. The Delta terminal and AA terminal are NOT connected inside security.
oh my. now I am worried. so when I onboard the first plane, I will then head out toward ground transportation or where do I go?
you will follow signs to North Terminal and/or Terminal D.
Thank you, I did have to go back through security and over to the main terminal. I actually had everything run smoothly with flights on tight and very small lines at security. Also highly recommend mobile tsa customs app. Without it, I may not have made my return flight!
