Hi, I am arriving from Caracas (Santa Barbara airline) to MIA at 10:30am, need to go through immigration, retrieve bags, go through customs, check-in bags again, and then to my connecting flight to D.C. at 2:00 pm with American Airlines. Will I have enough time to make it to my connecting flight? What do I need to do? Thanks!

That should be just enough time. You will have to take your bags with you to the American Airlines check in desk after you clear customs then go through security and to your departure gate.

Heard that many people are missing their flights because of higher security measures. What is MIAMI AIRPORT security lines going to Paris France running these days? How early do we need to get to airport for 6:20PM flight?

If you can, arrive at 3:30 PM.

I arrive from Orlando into Miami on 8th August at 16:10. I leave for LHR London Heathrow at 18:15. Both flights are with American Airlines. Is this enough time to make the connection?

I arrive from orlando to Miami at 16.10 and take off for London Heathrow at 18:15 on 8th August 2016. Is this enough time? Do I have to collect my baggage, past customs and immigration and then check in again?

There is no US Immigration or customs when leaving the US. All you have to do in Miami is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have plenty of time.

We are UK visitors on ESTA planning a visit to Florida in November.and our flight is due to land in MIA at 18.45. I want to know if we would have enough time to clear immigration and customs to catch a 19.45 onward flight to Orlando. Think it is too tight, but just want confirmation we would make a 19.45

No, 1 hour is absolutely not enough time to make an International to Domestic connection in Miami. You need to contact whoever you booked that ticket to and get it changed.

Thanks for that - haven't booked that flight yet just wanted to know if possible!

My flight from colombia arrives at 8pm. Then i have a connecting flight at 9:50. Only traveling with a carry on, US citizen. Will it be enough time? I have done layovers in MIA but during the day. I dont know if its just as bad in the evenings.

It shouldn't be as bad in the evening. With carry-on only I think you can make it.

  • Elder couple - enough time to connect between flights and customs?

My elder parents (from abroad) will land in NY before catching their next flight to MIA, which leaves 2 hrs later. They walk slow and my mother needs a wheel chair. Do they have to go through customs in NY or in MIA? Will they have enough time? Thank you!

In New York they will go through US Immigration, claim their bags, go through US Customs, re-check their bags, and go through security. What airlines are they flying and where are they flying from?

They are coming from ZRH (Switzerland) with AA; business class. Can they manage to catch their flight in a 2hrs frame? Waiting for a wheel chair might take some time too. Ty.

I forgot to add, they will continue with AA to MIA.

2 hours should be enough time.

  • Bahamas transfer for London Flight

Hi - I am on a flight from the Bahamas on March 3, 2016 that gets in at 1536, we then have a connecting flight to London at 1725. So we have just 1 hr 50 minutes to make the connection. The flight is booked as BA outbound and AA / BA on the return. I am wondering a) is baggage checked straight through from Bahamas or do we have to go through immigration / customs etc. Is there enough time for this?

If you are coming from Nassau or Freeport you will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in the Bahamas and not have to go through US Immigration or Customs or do anything with your bags in Miami. If you are coming from Marsh Harbour or somewhere else you will have to do that in Miami. You should have enough time.

Hi. I arrive on a charter from Cuba to Miami at 2:45pm. I am considering buying a 4:45pm flight to Chicago. Is that enough time to obtain bags and go through customs? Thank you for your help.

No, I wouldn't book anything until 6. Immigration and Customs in Miami is notoriously slow and you will have to transfer your bags to your second airline yourself, possibly in a different terminal.

hI. i'M A BRITISH CITIZEN FLYING INTO ORLANDO VIA MIAMI. I ARRIVE IN MIAMI WITH BA AND FLY TO ORLANDO WITH AA. HOW MUCH TIME SHOULD I ALLOW BETWEEN FLIGHTS?

If both tickets are on the same reservation then 2 hours is recommended. If two separate reservations I recommend 3 hours.

  • Miami American Airlines Baggage Claim Contact Info

I recently had an issue with some lost bags while traveling with American Airlines that caused my bags to be stranded in MIA instead of getting all the way to California. Contacting the right people at AA was a nightmare, but eventually I was able to find the number for AA baggage claim at MIA Airport. The numbers are: 305-526-7773 305-526-1761 They were able to better assist me there, and had more information than the standard AA number for baggage claims (1800-535-5225). Hope this helps!

going to be on AA from MEX to MIA with a layover for 2 hours. is that sufficient? but i'd be on LAN airlines (codeshare AA) from MIA to SCL

That's barely enough time if everything goes smoothly. You will arrive in the North terminal and depart from the South terminal J gates and will have to go through US Immigration, Customs, and security in Miami.

I will arrive 3 hours before an international flight from Concourse E. However the checkin counter will close 90 minutes before the flight. Will that be still enough time? Also is the checkin counter before the security checkpoint?

Yes, all check in counters are before security checkpoints. Yes, you should have plenty of time. Also, if your first flight is on the same reservation as your second flight then you don't have to check in again in miami - I assuming by you saying you "will arrive 3 hours before" you are connecting in Miami.

No it is the First flight. However current travel arrangements only allow me to be there about 3 hours before the flight.

    That is PLENTY of time.

  • Connecting flight MIA

Hi I will arrive in MIA saturday 5 december at 3:40PM, and I have a connecting flight for Cancun at 6:20. That's mean that I have 2 h 40 min. Is enough time to inmigration control and customs? To save time, is possible apply for ITI program avoiding the step of recollect luggage? Are there different queues for passenger in transit that have to be faster in the procedure? Thank you very much Kind regards Stefano

That should be enough time. If all tickets are on the same reservation on AA then ITI baggage should be done automatically - there's no applying for it. The different lines are based on your immigration status. If you are a US or Canadian citizen or ESTA user then you can use the APC kiosks, but if you are a first time ESTA user or using a transit visa you have to wait in the regular lines.

sorry, I meant "repeat ESTA user" can use the APC Kiosks.
