GREATER MINNEAPOLIS/ST.PAUL METRO AREA AIRPORTS
Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport is by far the dominant Airport of this area. Another option is to connect via the St. Cloud Regional Airport STC.
1. Minneapolis/ St.Paul International Airport MSP, located south of Minneapolis, near Fort Snelling and close to State Hwy 5, has four runways and two passenger terminals: the Lindbergh Terminal with Concourses A through G and the Humphrey Terminal, each with its own separate services. The Airport is being served by all major domestic and most international airlines offering over one hundred direct and a multitude of connecting flights to all points of the globe. To quote a remark of a seasoned traveler, it is 'one of my most favored hubs ...and in all kinds of weather ...it does not disappoint '. Hardly any negative comments were made about the airport, other than the long distances via walkways, a fact of life in big airports. Some tips: If you don't have a Worldclub membership, there is a 'lounge' above the mall that hardly anybody knows of - just before concourse F, take the elevator next to the Worldclub--much nicer than down below, and plenty of power outlets to get your work done. Advice: Use carry-on bags only, park in the red ramp, level 5, then clear the skyway security checkpoint, and check the monitors, because even if you printed your boarding pass at home, gates change frequently at MSP and the airline shuffles equipment and crews around. For the infrequent traveler, look at your departure time listed on the boarding pass and subtract 20 minutes, then show up at the gate at that time. By the way, you find a walkway connecting concourses C & G at the end of G, which connects to the 2d floor of C where you find the food court and bookstore.
2. Rochester International Airport RST, 94 miles southeast of Minneapolis, off I-90, offers many domestic and some international connections, as well as seasonal charter flights. It also has shuttle service with many daily departures to Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport and Mall of America.
3. St. Cloud Regional Airport STC, 72 miles northwest of Minneapolis, around I-94 offers domestic connections via Mesaba Airlines, as well as seasonal charter flights.
