TSA Baggage Screening Information for Travelers
100% of checked luggage will be screened. If you have luggage that you will be checking through to your final destination, you will give them to the airline ticket agent when you check in for your flight. The agent will tag your bags and send them on the belt to be screened by TSA before they go onto the aircraft.

Your luggage may be opened. You have the choice to lock your bags or not, but TSA recommends that if you do lock your bags, use one of the new "TSA recognized locks" which can be opened only by TSA and will be re-locked once screening is complete. For information about these locks and places where they can be purchased, please visit www.travelsentry.org. If a non-TSA recognized lock is used, screeners may need to break a lock in order to screen a piece of locked luggage. At this point, TSA is not liable for the locks that must be broken for security purposes.

    Packing Tips
    * Do not put film in your checked baggage. Some screening equipment at other airports will damage undeveloped film.
    * Avoid packing food and drinks in checked baggage, and put small items and toiletries into clear sealed bags to avoid spilling and unnecessary handling by screeners.
    * Avoid over-packing your bags. This will make it easier for screeners to put things back neatly if they do open your bag.
    * Avoid packing valuable or breakable items in checked luggage. After screening, bags travel a long way in the possession of airline baggage handlers and are often moved from one place to another quickly. TSA is not responsible for damage/loss caused by other handlers.
    * Items considered flammable, explosive or hazardous materials will not be allowed by the airline in checked luggage.

    Prohibited Items In Carry-On Baggage

All carry-on items will be x-rayed. Many items that are allowed in checked luggage are prohibited in carry-on luggage or on your person, as you will have access to these items in-flight. Any items that are detrimental to the well-being of a flight will not be allowed. Please see "Prohibited Items" link of the "Key Travel Tips" http://www.tsa.gov/public/display?theme=175 for more information about items that are permitted and prohibited for airline travel.
