2.Self-Service Check-In You have several options - take advantage of these efficient new processes:

(a) Using the self-service kiosks allows you to check in at the airport easily and quickly and to avoid the traditional airline counter lineup. The kiosks are user-friendly: simply follow the on-screen instructions. If necessary, you can ask an attendant at one of the assistance stations for help. The kiosk will prompt you to identify yourself with either a credit or loyalty card, a passport or even a bar code using the appropriate reader. You also have the option of manually entering information such as your reservation number. You can also use the kiosk to check in the people traveling with you and all your checked luggage, choose your seats and print your boarding cards for each segment of your flight. Other types of transactions are, or soon will be, available using the kiosk.

All self-service kiosks are equipped with a luggage-tag printer so that you can tag your own checked luggage. Montréal–Trudeau is the first airport in the world to offer this feature in a common-use environment. However, only some airlines currently offer luggage self-tagging.

(b) A growing number of airlines are allowing their passengers to check-in by Internet. It couldn’t be simpler! Simply follow instructions on your carrier’s website. Don’t forget to print and bring your boarding card(s) with you.
Once you are at the airport, you will be able to use a self-service check-in kiosk to print your boarding cards (if you don’t already have them), your luggage tags (if you are bringing checked luggage) or to complete any other available transaction.

(c) The latest development in self-service check-in is “mobile” check-in using a cellphone or Web-enabled PDA (personal digital assistant). Check with your carrier for terms of use. Once you are at the airport, you will be able to use a self-service check-in kiosk to print your boarding card(s) and luggage tags.

(d) Some carriers allow you to receive your boarding card in the form of a bar code sent directly to your mobile device. Check with your carrier for terms of use. Once you are at the airport, if you want to use a self-service kiosk, for example to print your luggage tags, you can identify yourself with your bar code by simply placing the screen of your mobile device against the reader indicated on the kiosk.

INTERNATIONAL ARRIVALS AT YUL AIRPORT:

ARRIVING PASSENGERS - UNITED STATES:

Customs and immigration – primary inspection.

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is responsible for providing integrated border services in Canada, including customs, immigration and luggage inspection services. In major airports, CBSA agents are assisted by dog handlers and dogs that have been specially trained to detect restricted or prohibited items, such as fruit, meat and cheese, by sniffing travellers’ luggage.

When you arrive in the Canada Customs area, you should have your travel documents on hand, as well as your completed Customs Declaration Card (E311), which you were given on the plane. The primary inspection line has 26 customs points as well as three self-service kiosks for people registered in the CANPASS Air/NEXUS program.
You will be asked to answer a few questions, particularly with respect to the duration of your stay outside the country and the goods you are bringing back into Canada.

* The personal exemptions to which you are entitled vary based on the duration of your stay.
* In general, the merchandise that you may include in your personal exemption must be intended for your personal or domestic usage.
* Certain conditions apply to tobacco products and alcoholic beverages.
* There are restrictions on firearms, food products, animals and vegetables, endangered species and cultural goods.

Luggage pickup

Consult the illuminated display panels to find the luggage carousel number assigned to your flight. All fragile luggage, oversized bags and pets are delivered on a specially designed conveyor belt, located on the periphery of the carousel area.

Luggage delivery is the responsibility of your air carrier. If one of your suitcases is missing or damaged, or for any other similar problem, please go to your airline’s luggage service counter. Before leaving the terminal, you should also double-check that the suitcases you have picked up are indeed yours.

Please note that luggage trolleys are available free of charge on the arrivals and departures levels at Montréal-Trudeau. You may also request assistance from a porter by contacting your airline—a representative will call a porter for you.

Secondary inspection

Before going into the public hall, you must give your customs declaration card to a representative of the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), who will tell you whether you need to go to the secondary inspection area. This inspection consists of a manual inspection of your luggage and, in some cases, a search.

If you are travelling with a pet, you must present the animal’s health report and pay the entry fees. You will also be expected to pay any fees owed in relation to your declared purchases at the payment counter.

There is also a foreign exchange office/counter in this area.

Services

In the public arrivals hall, you will find a variety of useful services: an information counter and terminal, foreign exchange office, ATM machine, hotel reservation, a payment terminal, as well as a café-bar, mini-market and flower shop. The tourism information counter is located in the international arrivals area, near Carousel #6.

The luggage pickup service counter (for delayed or withheld items) is located at the end of the corridor. Use one of the telephones provided to speak with an attendant.

As you leave the terminal, all the transportation services are immediately available (Aérobus, taxis and limousines, etc.). If you require assistance, simply contact someone at the Aéroports de Montréal counter. Car rental services are all located in the same kiosk located outside the terminal on the ground floor of the multi-level parking area.

To drop off or reclaim a lost item, contact the lost and found office (cloak room) at YUL Airport, located in the public area on the arrivals level. Information: (514) 633-2076. If the item was lost on board a plane, please contact your airline. Should you lose your passport, contact Passport Canada at 1-800-567-6868.
Stamps can be purchased at Maison de la presse newsstands and mail boxes are located in the public area of the terminal at YUL Airport.
Pets at YUL Airport:

Pets are allowed in the terminal as long as they are in a cage or on a leash. If you are travelling with your pet, please ask your airline before you leave about the options available to you, the type of cage to use, how to prepare your pet, restrictions and applicable fees, etc. In most cases, this information is provided on your carrier’s website. If your pet travels as cargo, you must pick it up from your airline’s cargo services area.

Airline policies regarding pets vary widely and it is highly recommended that you contact the airline prior to making a reservation. Here are some helpful tips for traveling with pets:

Tips for Traveling with Pets:

· First, contact your airline to find out the rules and regulations they have on pet travel.
· Do not tranquilize your pet, as the effects of tranquilizers on animals at higher altitudes can be unpredictable.
· The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has set up rules and regulations for the transportation of live animals, and your pet is required to be at least eight weeks old and fully weaned before traveling by air.
· Whenever possible, book a direct, nonstop flight and avoid holiday or weekend travel. Try to plan schedules that minimize temperature extremes.
· The kennel that you use must be sturdy, properly ventilated, and large enough for your pet to freely be able to stand, turn around and lie down.
· Get your pet comfortable with the kennel prior to flying; this reduces stress on your pet.
· Give your pet food and water within four hours before your flight. You will have to sign a certification of the time when you last offered food and water to your pet.
· Give yourself plenty of time for check-in so there is no rushing and everything is done properly
