BNA Airport Overview
Nashville International Airport BNA is located 8 miles East of downtown Nashville, and is named as one of the best places to spot a country star and it is the gateway to the country music capital of Tennesee. BNA also takes care of everyday folks just fine with art exhibitions and live music performances on the ticketing level, a children’s play area and a massage bar for those with achy-breaky muscles. Earlier in 2009, BNA received top honors for Best Concessions Management, for Airport with the Best Customer Service, and for Airport with the Most Unique Services in the medium airport division from Airport Revenue News. Nashville airport is served by a good number of major and minor airlines with destinations and direct-flights to most US cities, as well as to Cancun, Guadalajara, Ixtapa, Curacao and Montreal, to name a few. Note that due to Delta's acquisition of Northwest Airlines Northwest Airlines’ ticketing and baggage claim operations at the Airport are being consolidated with Delta Air Lines. and Delta will operate from Gates 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7.
Nashville International has just revamped its 20-year old passenger terminal by adding more restaurants and stores, as well as its first two lounges. Due to its renovations, passengers can now enjoy a taste and feel of Music City through local favorites such as Sweet’s, Tootsies, Neely’s Bar-B-Que and CMT Loot, and have access to national brands like Starbucks and Hudson News. Other upgrades include new carpeting in the concourse and terminal; renovation of the restrooms; and upgrades to elevators, escalators and HVAC units. Also, thanks to the stimulus money, the entire Terminal Apron was overhauled. .
Across from the passenger terminal is valet parking and the short-term parking lot; behind it is the long-term parking lot; a little farther over is the economy lot--with a Cell Phone Waiting area at its edge (stay with your car there until your party has called you to be picked up at the curb); there is also an overflow lot off Donelson Pike. To get from the Airport to your destination, you have an extensive choice of rental cars, taxis & limos, shuttles and buses. For the price of $1.35, you can take the MTA route 18 Airport/Elm Hill bus, which serves the airport and downtown Nashville on an hourly basis, seven days a week (615-862-5950, or nashvillemta.org)--schedules are posted at the Welcome Center on the baggage claim level.
