Lost Ipad in Terminal last Friday morning October 5th

If your flight arrives on time you should be ok. You definitely need at least 45 minutes to make the connection if you have to claim luggage.

  • Layover Connection Time Enough?
    Sep 17, 2012

I will be travelling from CUN to EWR then onto DTW in early March. I have a 1 hour 32 minute layover in EWR. Assuming no major snowstorm, is this enough time to clear customs and reboard the flight to DTW?

International arrivals, with the exception of United, come in at Terminal B and United at Terminal C, at both of which they need to go through passport check, pick up bags, go through customs clearance, and if continuing journey re-check-in your bags - count on 35-50 mins. for this procedure. All domestic flights, including some of United, use Terminal A; while most of United's flights are out of Terminal C. Your ticket & overhead screen on arrival will show you which Terminal /gate you need to transfer to. If you need to switch terminals, take the Airtrain, which takes only minutes, but serves pre-security areas, so you need to go through security check at your connecting terminal before proceeding to your gate. You have sufficient time.

  • Transfer from Montreal to Stockholm

I am a swedish national arriving at treminal A on saturday 14th september at 16:41. I have a connecting flight to stockholm sceduled at 17:25 from terminal C, do I have enough time to make that transfer?

On arrival at EWR, Terminal A, you have two connection choices to Terminal C - take the shuttle bus from gate to gate or the elevated Airtrain - follow signs (departing & arriving at pre-security--you would need to go through security check at TC: Terminal C's Concourse level has three gateways leading to (a) gate area C1 is arranged in a Y-shape, with gates C70 to C99; (b) Gateway C2 has gates C101 to C115; and (c) Gate area C3 has gates C120 to C139. The Shuttle Bus from Terminal A stops at gateway area C1, near gate C71.

    Thank you very much!

  • considering skipping second flight

My family will be returning from a trip to Dublin in Sept. Our flight is from DUB-EWR-PHL, all on United. Our flight from EWR to PHL has been pushed back so that we now have a 3 1/2 hr layover. We're considering skipping the EWR-PHL flight, as we can take the train or have someone pick us up from EWR and be back in Philly before the flight even departs EWR. My question is this: since we will go through customs in Dublin before our flight, will we have to collect and re-check our bags in EWR, i.e. will we have access to our bags when we land at EWR or will they go straight to PHL? Thanks!

You will be arriving via United at Terminal C and do not have to go through passport clearance. Just pick up your bags. My suggestion: Take the The AirTrain is free within the Airport and also connects passengers to NJ Transit and Amtrak Northeast Corridor train lines via the Newark Liberty International Airport Train Station, taking only 15 mins. Then take the Amtrak service to Philadelphia (tel. 800-872-7245).

  • Arrival Gate for Continental/United Intl

I checked the EWR website and it states United International Flights arrive in Terminal B. However iFLY states they arrive in terminal C (apparently all United does..) the flight i am travelling is a United flight operated by Continental. Which Terminal will I arrive in? (I need to connect to A afterwards...what level is the Airtrain on?)

    1. At EWR all international arrivals (other than those coming from airports with US pre-clearance) are landing at Terminal B. 2. Continental has merged into United, which uses mainly Terminal C, but also uses some flights at Terminal A. The Airtrain serves all three terminals inside security. Terminal A is now in the process of converting to new level designation (the other two have completed it) - Open www.ifly.com/ewr and click on "Terminal Map" under QUICK LINKS; scroll down and read details.

What is happening at Newark? Husband travelling says all at his gate escorted back to Security due to security breach

  • Newark baggage handlers

Sunday April 22, 2012 at 6:30 pm in Pittsburgh PA my husband and I each checked a bag for our Flight on UN4894 to Newark NJ through to Houston TX on Flight UA1194. While passing time for our morning flight we were walking around the airport. We found our 2 bags on a luggage carousel. Some man had picked up one of them and said that he thought the bag was his. We took the bags to the Luggage Claim Department and explained what had happened. " No, we can't take the bags back because you touched them". The manager came over and we had to explain it all over again. He takes takes one bag and throws it onto the nearest carousel. Not a gentle toss, a heave as in -you people are bothering me. He told us "to leave the bags and go on your way. Someone from luggage will come by with a cart and return all the bags to the luggage area." The guy he pointed out wore nothing to indicate that he worked at the airport - not a name tag on a lanyard or pinned to his shirt or any piece of an uniform. We got a cart and took our bags with us. Is it standard procedure to send luggage that has been checked through to another location to the Baggage carousel? Any bag left on the carousel could be stolen while the customer is upstairs thinking his bag is secure because it was checked through to his final destination when in fact it is sitting there for the taking. Are those bags rescanned by TSA before being reloaded onto the planes? Anyone could walk in off the street and place something in those bags and walk out again with no one the wiser.

  • Terrible Security Lines at USAIR concour

I arrived at Newark on a flight from Zurich with 1 hour 40 min to make my connecting flight on US AIR. After picking up my luggage, going through customs, and returning my bags to be sent to their final destination, I arrived in the main terminal on the shuttle, and was requiried I to get a new boarding pass(why?) at USAIR ticketing. I still had 40 minutes to catch my flight. I thought,"piece of cake".. Silly me! The TSA screening for that terminal was the worst handled i have ever seen in the past ten years. it took one-half hour to go about 30 feet. And I was traveling Business-1st Priority. There was only one lane open at that time (about 2:45), but there were probably 50 people in line. Priority merged with economy about 10 feet passed the boarding pass checkpoint. At one point, the line did not move at all for over 10 minutes. I, finally arrived at the gate 15 minutes before the scheduled departure only to find that the door of the plane had already been closed. 3-4 other would-be passengers also were denied access during the next 2-3 minutes. Consequently, I had to wait two hour to continue the additional 2 legs of my flight to Ft. Myers, FL. From the time I got up at 4AM Zurich time until I landed in Ft. Myers after 12 midnite, I had been up for 24 hours. In addition, no first class seats were available on my rescheduled connections. There were no weather or flight issues involved, just monumental mismanagement at the TSA screening point and an airline more concerned with its on time record than its passengers. But the way the plane left the gate before its scheduled departure time--not with a full roster of passengers however-as 4-5 of them had been denied boarding by over-zealous gate agents.

Is there a direct number to the Continental Baggage Claim area. I have the 1-800 number but I'd prefer to speak to a live person who could actually go physically see if the bag is there. Anyone have the local phone number?

  • Flying from edinburgh in June
    Feb 6, 2012

HI, I am flying myself on the 12 June on a direct flight from Edinburgh to Newark. I am a 19 year old girl and I am slightly worried because I have never flew myself. I am going to stay with relatives in Neptune. I am wondering what will happen when I go through customs and passport checks. I will have straightners, makeup and toiletries in my case, will I need to declare these, and also spending money as well, this all confuses me, I am a nervous first time flyer. Thanks if you help.

First of all you need a passport which is valid at until at least 6 monhts after arrival at the U.S. When packing keep in mind that the maximum weight for your bag is 50 lbs - you will be charged for each bag, plus overweight charges - each airline has its own fees. Your carry-on bag needs to fit either into the overhead bin of the plane or under your feet - all valuables need to be in the carry-on. Read the 1-2-3 regulations on liquids and pack them in 1-quart plastic bags. When arriving at the Airport, after checking in your bag(s) & getting your boarding passes, you go through security check, where you put your belongings into bins go through sceening, pick up your belongings and move on to your gate area where you wait for boarding your plane. EWR has 3 terminals - A, B & C - Unless you arrive by Continental Airlines (in Terminal C) you will arrive in Terminal B. On arrival you go through passport control, pick up your bags, go through customs clearance and proceed to the exit (or where you will be picked up). I strongly advise you to check up on ifly.com/ewr - look at "first-time flyers" and other releavant material. YOU CAN DO IT!
