I have two flights booked separately. One from Lisbon Portugal flying TAP landing at 3:50pm. My second flight leaves from Newark to Denver via Southwest at 6:15pm. If I don't check luggage, can I pull it off?

With no checked bags you have a chance assuming everything goes smoothly and you check in for your Southwest flight before leaving Lisbon.

Hi, I will be travelling from New Delhi to Phoenix, AZ with a 1.5 hr layover at EWR. Is 1.5 hr enough time for transfer? I know that I need to go through immigration, get my baggage and go through custom to catch connection. Thanks.

That is just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

fly with United air from Boston to Beijing china, I have to transfer at Newark with 1:47 min layover. Do i have to collect my luggage and re-check in? what is the distance between the two terminals? the time enough? .

If both flights are on United you don't have to do anything with your bags in Newark and likely don't even have to change terminals. You have enough time.

I booked a flight with United and have 1hr 45 minutes layover between the flight (Spain-EWR) to the domestic flight EWR-IAH. I need to get through customs and straight to the gate? Do I have to pick up and check again my luggage? Will this be enough? Any advice?

No need to ask the same question twice.

hI. I am travelling from OMAHA to EWR reaching at 15:30 and then have connecting flight to Mumbai at 20:25. Flying with United. Need to know as I have 5 hour lay over at EWR, can I go out of airport to meet friends. My baggage will be checked in through from Omaha to Mumbai.

Yes, you can leave the airport to meet your friends, but you need to be back at the Terminal C security checkpoint by about 8 PM.

There's a flight New Delhi to EWR. The lay over is 3 Hours. and then a flight from there to toronto. Would i require a transit visa?

If you are an Indian citizen, yes, you will need a US Transit Visa.

Hi. I am a tourist, travelling from Newark airport, with a 1.5hr layover at PHL before heading to New Hampshire Manchester airport. I bought tickets under American AIrlines from EWR straight to MHT. Do I have to go through US customs & check in my baggage again at PHL?

There is no US Immigration or Customs when flying on domestic flights. New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New Hampshire are all located in the United States of America. You will go through security in Newark. All you have to do in Philadelphia is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Hello, I am flying from San Francisco to Newark and the to Ottawa in Canada. Do I need to do security in Newark? I am flying with United. Or would I just do security when I'm in Ottawa? Also, my terminal is C to A. Are the distances far a apart?

You will not have to go through security in Newark. United runs a shuttle inside security between Terminal C and Terminal A and there is no US Customs when leaving the US.

How long does this normally take? My layover is 1h 30 min

That should be enough time if your flight from San Francisco is on-time. It shouldn't take more than 30 minutes.

Do you know where this is exactly located ? And what are the wait times for it?

The shuttle in A is fairly well marked. It arrives at the base of the side off Terminal C closest to Terminal B. It runs about every 10 minutes and takes 10-15 minutes.

  • Connection in EWR for 2 hours to London

I'm flying into EWR at 5:05 pm and have to go from Terminal A to Terminal C to get on a 7:30 pm flight to London. Will I realistically make that connection in time? Any tips on how to make this process go faster?

Also, I'm flying from Vancouver to EWR with United Airlines for both flights

The 5:05 PM Arrival is operated by Air Canada, not United. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Vancouver. In Newark you will just take the AirTrain from Terminal A to Terminal C and go through security. You have enough time.

Arrive from ORD in the morning and out to England in the evening. What is the best and fastest way to see as much of New York as possible--tour?? And what terminal do we depart from when flying all United?? And does United lounge have shower facilities??

Both flights will be in Terminal C. There are showers at the United Club near gate C120. It takes an hour each way to get to the city so you'd only have 3-4 hours.

I am arriving at Newark at 5.20 by United from Mumbai at Terminal C. I have connecting flight at 7.55 by Air Canada from Terminal A. Can you let me know how can I travel from Terminal. Do I need to collect my luggage and re-check-in. Do I need to go through Customs also.

Yes, you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk (if they are already tagged to your final destination), then take the AirTrain to Terminal A and go through security.

Yes, that is enough time if your flight from LA is on-time. All you have to do is walk from one gate to the other.

  • Leaving the Airport on a Through Ticket
    May 6, 2016

I'm flying from Panama City to Dublin with a 6.5hr layover in Newark on a through ticket with United. I'm thinking of heading into Manhattan for an hour or so to kill time. I'll have 1 checked bag that is checked through for the duration, I'm wondering can I leave the Airport and go into New York, leaving my luggage being checked through in the airport?

Yes, when you arrive from Panama City you will have to claim your bag to go through US Customs. You can then immediately re-check it at the re-check desk. After that you are free to go where you want. However, keep in mind that the trip on the train into Manhattan takes over an hour, so you will have to leave Manhattan about 3 hours before your flight to Dublin.

  • No time?...

Hi, I will be arriving/connecting at EWR from Orlando travelling to Belfast, N.I and the reverse on return. My connection time is 3h 55m would i have enough time to go quickly to Manhattan and get back in time or would i miss my flight? What would be the outcome of missing my flight? Many Thanks.

That is not enough time. You'd have to turn around to come right back to the airport when you got there.

Thanks, I thought not, if I done it on the return and missed my flight to Orlando would I be allowed to catch the next flight? Thanks

No, if your flight from Belfast was on-time they'd count you as a no show and flights to Orlando typically go out full, so you may be waiting awhile even if they were willing to rebook you. You also would definitely not have time as on the return you'll have to go through Immigration and Customs in Newark.

Ah ok it's not worth the risk, thanks for the info been a real help. I may just do with seeing the skyline from Newark lol, which side of the plane is best to get a good view? Thanks.

It depends on the wind, but they more commonly land to the Southwest than the Northeast, so in that case sitting on the left hand side of the plane (the A seat) would have the best view.
