  • Connection in EWR for 2 hours to London

I'm flying into EWR at 5:05 pm and have to go from Terminal A to Terminal C to get on a 7:30 pm flight to London. Will I realistically make that connection in time? Any tips on how to make this process go faster?

Also, I'm flying from Vancouver to EWR with United Airlines for both flights

Arrive from ORD in the morning and out to England in the evening. What is the best and fastest way to see as much of New York as possible--tour?? And what terminal do we depart from when flying all United?? And does United lounge have shower facilities??

Both flights will be in Terminal C. There are showers at the United Club near gate C120. It takes an hour each way to get to the city so you'd only have 3-4 hours.

I am arriving at Newark at 5.20 by United from Mumbai at Terminal C. I have connecting flight at 7.55 by Air Canada from Terminal A. Can you let me know how can I travel from Terminal. Do I need to collect my luggage and re-check-in. Do I need to go through Customs also.

Yes, you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk (if they are already tagged to your final destination), then take the AirTrain to Terminal A and go through security.

Yes, that is enough time if your flight from LA is on-time. All you have to do is walk from one gate to the other.

    thank you so much.

  • Leaving the Airport on a Through Ticket

I'm flying from Panama City to Dublin with a 6.5hr layover in Newark on a through ticket with United. I'm thinking of heading into Manhattan for an hour or so to kill time. I'll have 1 checked bag that is checked through for the duration, I'm wondering can I leave the Airport and go into New York, leaving my luggage being checked through in the airport?

Yes, when you arrive from Panama City you will have to claim your bag to go through US Customs. You can then immediately re-check it at the re-check desk. After that you are free to go where you want. However, keep in mind that the trip on the train into Manhattan takes over an hour, so you will have to leave Manhattan about 3 hours before your flight to Dublin.

  • No time?...

Hi, I will be arriving/connecting at EWR from Orlando travelling to Belfast, N.I and the reverse on return. My connection time is 3h 55m would i have enough time to go quickly to Manhattan and get back in time or would i miss my flight? What would be the outcome of missing my flight? Many Thanks.

That is not enough time. You'd have to turn around to come right back to the airport when you got there.

Thanks, I thought not, if I done it on the return and missed my flight to Orlando would I be allowed to catch the next flight? Thanks

No, if your flight from Belfast was on-time they'd count you as a no show and flights to Orlando typically go out full, so you may be waiting awhile even if they were willing to rebook you. You also would definitely not have time as on the return you'll have to go through Immigration and Customs in Newark.

Ah ok it's not worth the risk, thanks for the info been a real help. I may just do with seeing the skyline from Newark lol, which side of the plane is best to get a good view? Thanks.

It depends on the wind, but they more commonly land to the Southwest than the Northeast, so in that case sitting on the left hand side of the plane (the A seat) would have the best view.

im flying from Mumbai(India) to orlando. ill be reaching EWR by 5:30 AM and will be catching my next flight by 8:00 AM. Both my flight will be by united airways. what all stages will i have to face from the point i get of from my first flight till i reach my connecting flight. i will be travelling on a C1-D visa. i will be reaching Terminal C and will be leaving from Terminal C as well. so will about 2 and a half hour be enough for me to go through the process over there

You will arrive in Terminal C, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate. You should have enough time.

What will be the approx time for me to clear the entire procedure (thinking its the busiest day and the busiest time), and if I somehow miss my flight due to reaching late, what can I do?

It could take up to 3 hours in a worst case scenario. If you miss your flight to Orlando you will be rebooked on the next available United flight to Orlando. United flies several flights from Newark to Orlando daily (today they have 10 flights)

Will the rebooking be on my expense or the airline

There will be no cost to rebook you if you miss your connection.

  • International connection at EWR. Can I step out of the terminal?

Hello, I fly into EWR from New Delhi on United and have an approx 12 hour layover with a United flight to SJO (Costa Rica). Can I leave the airport for a few hours? I have a valid US tourist visa. I believe that international-international transit passengers have to complete immigration, customs and bag drop their luggage. I was planning to "bag drop" my checked baggage and go meet a friend for a couple of hours. Wondering if this is allowed since I'm technically a transit passenger?

Yes, when you clear US Customs and re-check your bags you will be outside security and free to go where you want.

I have a 1 hour 15 minute layover from a domestic flight to an international flight -- both United. Is that sufficient time to make the international connection

Yes that should be enough time. If you have to go from Terminal A to Terminal C then United runs a shuttle bus between the two terminals inside security.

Traveling from SAN to CDG with a 7 hour layover. Son lives nearby and would like to have dinner (no car, will be using train). Can he get through security somehow to have dinner inside terminal (better restaurant choices there). Or do I need to exit security to visit him?

No, he cannot go through security. You will have to meet him outside security.

  • Dallas to Delhi

Hi, i have 2 hours and 30 minutes layover time with United Airlines. I will be coming from Dallas and catch a flight to New Delhi, India. Is it feasible?

That is plenty of time. You just have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Thanks for the quick reply. Since i will be leaving USA from Newark will i have to go through customs / immigration here before flying out?

There is no US Immigration or Customs when leaving the US. You just show your passport to the United gate agent when boarding your flight to Delhi.

Between arrival from Costa Rica and departure to Europe both in Terminal C I have a stop over on Sunday of about 12 hours in Newark. Does it make sense to visit down town New York for a few hours? Are there lockers for my hand luggage and my backpack inside the Terminal? And please let me know the quickest and best way to town f.e. Manhattan.

There are no lockers in the airport. The best way to manhattan is to take the Airtrain to the NJT (New Jersey Transit) train station and then the NJT to New York Penn Station http://www.njtransit.com/rg/rg_servlet.srv?hdnPageAction=AirportConnectionsTo There is a business near Penn Station that does luggage storage named Schwartz Luggage Storage.

  • Connection fly layover 54 mins

Hi, I fly from YOW to SGN with a connection at newark. will I need to reclaim and re check my luggage? also I arrive at terminal A and leave at terminal C, how long would it take to get there? i have 54 mins layover time, thanks

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Ottawa. All you have to do in Newark is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. united runs a shuttle bus inside security between A and C. you have enough time if your flight from Ottawa is on-time.

What's if my flight from Ottawa is not on-time - what should I do for a long flight, Thanks for the advise. (since I had delayed 5 trips to Orlando with United at YOW)

I'd still take the shuttle, since if you take the AirTrain you have to go through security again, which is a hassle, even if you have time to spare.

Hi, I am travelling to Newark on Air Canada from Toronto and then further to Brussels and Mumbai on Jet Airways. The travel is a on a single ticket from Toronto to Mumbai. Do I need a Transit Visa or I can board the Jet flight directly?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. Whether you need a transit visa or not depends on your nationality.
