What airlines are you flying? Are both flights on the same reservation or two separate reservations?

I am flying with Air Canada (partner with United) and second flight, air Canada Jazz. I is the same reservation.

  • United Club Access from B Terminal / United Award Ticket

I have a United Award ticket for travel to DUB on Aer Lingus with United confirmation code and would like to use a United Club Lounge pass prior to the trip. I believe Aer Lingus departs from terminal B but United Lounges are in A&C. I assume I check in/bags at Aer Lingus terminal. Will I be able to get the the A or C United lounges after passing through security and return to B without difficulty? Thanks!

No, I would not advise doing that.

    For what reason? Thanks.

Because getting from the Aer Lingus gates to the United Clubs in C inside security is difficult if not impossible.

Just trying to understand the issues. So there is no way to get between terminals B and C and back with out going through security checkpoints for passengers at each terminal? How about between terminals B and A? Thanks.

That will be very difficult if not impossible.

  • Terminal B to C connection

I have a United flight arriving at Terminal B at 14:15 from Madrid, Spain, and a connecting flight from Terminal C to SFO at 15:50. Will I have enough time for this connection? Will I need to collect luggage for the transfer? I am travelling business class - is there fast track security for business? Many thanks,.

Yes, you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then take the AirTrain to Terminal C and go through security. Yes, there is a Premier Access security line for First/Business class passengers in Terminal C in Newark. You have just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

  • SW to UA International-question on best approach

Flying on SW to terminal A arriving 4:40 to catch a UA intl flight to Spain departing 7:20 from terminal C. Should I just take carryon to stay in secure area or do I have enough time to pickup checked bag in terminal A then check-in said bag at terminal C and go through security?

You can't stay in the secure area. You'll have to exit security anyway to take the AirTrain to Terminal C. If you don't need to check a bag, then don't check a bag, it's one less thing to worry about, but you will have to go through security again in Terminal C anyway.

Oh! I didn't think that would be the case. You are the best! Thank you!

  • Connection flight from ottawa to newark to fort wayne

First time flyer here. Im looking to a book a flight that I am unsure of and just wanted to know if this layover gives me enough time. The flight would be United Express from Ottawa to Newark and United Express from Newark to Fort Wayne with a 45mins layover in Newark. My question is if I do a pre clearance in Ottawa (Canada) will I bypass customs in newark? and will I need to recheck my baggage or will it go all the way to Fort Wayne since both flights are United Express? Also would it be difficult to make my connecting with 45mins?

Yes, you will not have to go through US Immigration and Customs in Newark as that is taken care of in Ottawa. Your arrival will be like a domestic flight. You won't have to do anything with checked bags in Newark. All you have to do in Newark is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate, which should both be in the same area of Terminal A.

  • Transit via Newark to San Jose, costa Rica

I am travelling from Frankfurt, Germany to San Jose Juan Santamaria Airport in Costa Rica via Newark with United Airlines. I arrive at Newark Terminal B at 14.35 and leave at 16.30 for the connecting flight to San Jose. Both flights are with United Airlines on one reservation on a Saturday. I have a number of queries. 1) Will I have to collect my hold baggage at Terminal B and re-check for onward flight or will the baggage go straight through? 2) Will I have enough time to travel from Terminal B to Terminal C? 3) will I have to clear immigration and customs at Terminal B? 4) Will I have to go through immigration checks at Terminal C? I have found conflicting answers on this forum regarding collection of baggage - some answers say one must collect baggage and re-check, others say that the baggage goes straight through to destination.

Yes, you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, take the AirTrain to Terminal C, go through security and to your departure gate.

Do I have to pass through security if I am catching a connecting flight from terminal A to terminal C? BOS-NEWARK-PUNTA CANA

United runs a shuttle inside security from Terminal A to Terminal C. However, most flights from Boston arrive in Terminal C.

  • Arrive Domestic - Depart International

Domestic (PIT to EWR) and international flights (EWR to DEL) are both United. Will check baggage thru to DEL at PIT. Must I pick up baggage and recheck for the international leg of the trip? Will 1 hour 15 minutes present a problem?

Your bags will be checked through to DEL in PIT. All you have to do in Newark is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. If you arrive in Terminal A, there is a shuttle inside security to Terminal C where you will depart.

    You are wonderful. Thank you.

  • Inquiry regarding immigration check at Newark

hi, my scheduled plan is to travel from Mumbai to Chicago via a transit at Newark. The time gap between connecting flight is 1 hr 25 min. In this context , I would like to know whether the stop over will require me to have an immigration chk, in which case my concern is the time gap available is too short. It is a tourist visa. Pl guide.

Yes, in Newark you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags, go through security and to your departure gate. That is a very difficult connection, however, if you miss it and both flights are on the same reservation, United has nearly hourly flights from Newark to Chicago that you can be rebooked on.

  • 33 Minute domestic layover too short?
    Feb 9, 2017

Hi, Im flying from Miami to Vancouver and found a ticket that has a 33 minute layover in Newark for time time/price range I want (it's a total of 3 flights, lol). I was wondering if 33 minutes was long enough to go from the terminal to my next flight that goes to San Francisco. If so, what if my first flight is delayed for some reason? I leave in April 4th, so would there be any risk of bad weather that could affect my flights? Never had a short layover like this so I'm just trying to decide if I should get it or it's too risky. Thanks!

It's pretty risky, even if both flights are on United.

Risky in what way? If the first flight is delayed? Or transit time in the airport?

Was actually able to switch to an earlier flight (thanks United for their free switching of flights in the first 24 hours!) And thank you for messaging me, completely forgot about the earlier flight I saw when booking

Go for it. Make life an adventure.
